Food and Foodways is a refereed, interdisciplinary, and international journal devoted to publishing original scholarly articles on the history and culture of human nourishment. By reflecting on the role food plays in human relations, this unique journal explores the powerful but often subtle ways in which food has shaped, and shapes, our lives socially, economically, politically, mentally, nutritionally, and morally. Because food is a pervasive social phenomenon, it cannot be approached by any one discipline. We encourage articles that engage dialogue, debate, and exchange across disciplines. Food and Foodways publishes work by anthropologists, biologists, economists, ethnobotanists, historians, literary critics, nutritionists, psychologists, sociologists, and others who use food as a lens of analysis. SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS: Cognitive and Motivational Mechanisms Compensating for the Limitations in Performance on Complex Cognitive Tasks across the Adult Life-SpanThe purposes of Aging, Neuropsychology, and Cognition are to (a) publish research on both the normal and dysfunctional aspects of cognitive development in adulthood and aging, and (b) promote the integration of theories, methods, and research findings between the fields of cognitive gerontology and neuropsychology.The primary emphasis of the journal is to publish original empirical research. Occasionally, theoretical or methodological papers, critical reviews of a content area, or theoretically relevant case studies will also be published. Emphases of interest include information processing mechanisms, intellectual abilities, the impact of injury or disease on performance, cognitive training, cognitive and pharmacological approaches to treatment and rehabilitation, metacognition, and the social and personal aspects of cognitive functioning.Articles on both normal and dysfunctional development that are relevant to the interface between cognitive gerontology and neuropsychology are particularly welcome. Dementia is an international peer reviewed journal that acts as a major forum for social research of direct relevance to improving the quality of life and quality of care for people with dementia and their families. For the first time an international research journal is available for academics and practitioners that has as its primary paradigm the lived experience of dementia.

Prolegomena publishes articles in all areas of contemporary philosophy, as well as articles on the history of philosophy, particularly those which aim to combine a historical approach with current philosophical trends. Much of the most important learning happens through social interaction. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus.The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Also, issues of collective forms of learning characterizing systematic change, institutional development and communities of practice are central for the journal.The journal is multidisciplinary and invites scholars from relevant disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, communication studies and all areas of educational research. Data may come from ethnographies, experimental approaches, intervention studies, case studies, interviews, questionnaires, self-reports, cross-cultural comparisons, archives etc. Articles of different kinds will be welcome: reports of empirical research, theoretically orientated analyses, contributions to method, literature reviews, meta-analyses of research etc. There will be no restrictions when it comes to age levels or social settings. A strong expectation will be that authors write clearly and accessibly for an international and multidisciplinary audience.

International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS) is devoted to academic and professional public management and public administration. It is the oldest scholarly public administration journal specifically focused on comparative and international topics. IRAS encourages reflection on international comparisons, new techniques and approaches in governance, the dialogue between academics and practitioners, and debates about the future of public management and public administration.

Language Learning and Development (LL&D) serves as a vehicle for interaction among the broad community of scholars and practitioners who investigate language learning, including language learning in infancy, childhood, and across the lifespan; language in both typical and atypical populations and in both native- and second-language learning. LL&D welcomes scholars who pursue diverse approaches to understanding all aspects of language acquisition, including biological, social, and cross-cultural influences, and who employ experimental, observational, ethnographic, comparative, neuroscientific, and formal methods of investigation.The journal is multidisciplinary and seeks to examine language development in all of its many guises. The Utrecht Law Review is an open-access peer-reviewed journal which aims to offer an international academic platform for cross-border legal research. In the first place, this concerns research in which the boundaries of the classic branches of the law (private law, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, European and public international law) are crossed and connections are made between these areas of the law, amongst others from a comparative law perspective. In addition, the journal welcomes research in which classic law is brought face to face with not strictly legal disciplines such as philosophy, economics, political sciences and public administration science.
The journal was established in 2005 and is affiliated to the Utrecht University School of Law.

Evaluation Review (ERX) is an interdisciplinary forum for social science researchers, planners, and policy makers who develop, implement, and utilize studies designed to improve the human condition. Consistently highly ranked and cited, Evaluation Review brings together the latest applied evaluation methods used in a wide range of disciplines. It presents the latest quantitative and qualitative methodological developments, as well as related applied research issues.

The History of the Family: An International Quarterly makes a significant contribution by publishing works reflecting new developments in scholarship and by charting new directions in the historical study of the family. Further emphasizing the international developments in historical research on the family, the Quarterly encourages articles on comparative research across various cultures and societies in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific Rim, in addition to Europe, the United States and Canada, as well as work in the context of global history. While firmly rooted in history, the Quarterly is interdisciplinary; it publishes articles on historical anthropology, historical sociology, economic history and psychology as they relate to the family and the life course. The History of the Family: An International Quarterly publishes essays submitted by individual authors as well as special topical issues on the history of the family, the household and kinship, marriage, childhood and youth, life course and aging, and historical demography as it relates to the family. The Quarterly also publishes book review essays, methodological reports, descriptions of databases and other source materials and conference reports.

Social Movement Studies is an international and inter-disciplinary journal providing a forum for academic debate and analysis of extra-parliamentary political, cultural and social movements throughout the world. Social Movement Studies has a broad, inter-disciplinary approach designed to accommodate papers engaging with any theoretical school and which study the origins, development, organisation, values, context and impact of historical and contemporary movements active in all parts of the world. We understand our inter-disciplinary approach to include both contributions that engage with particular schools of thought relevant to social movements and popular protest and contributions that extend across disciplinary boundaries. Social Movement Studies aims to publish soundly researched analyses and to re-establish writing as intervention. From this broad and inclusive perspective we are interested in contributions dealing with social movements, popular protests and networks that support protest. Established in 1895 as the first U.S. scholarly journal in its field, American Journal of Sociology remains a leading voice for analysis and research in the social sciences. The journal presents pathbreaking work from all areas of sociology, with an emphasis on theory building and innovative methods. AJS strives to speak to the general sociological reader and is open to sociologically informed contributions from anthropologists, statisticians, economists, educators, historians, and political scientists. AJS prizes research that offers new ways of understanding the social. AJS offers a substantial book review section that identifies the most salient work of both emerging and enduring scholars of social science. Commissioned review essays appear two or three times a year, offering the journal's readers a comparative, in-depth examination of prominent titles. The only two-year college journal that is international in scope and purpose, Community College Journal of Research and Practice is published twelve times per volume year. She Ji publishes seven types of articles:
• Original research articles. She Ji welcomes conceptual, theoretical, and empirical articles. All research articles are subject to double-blind, refereed peer review. Following peer review, She Ji works with authors on a final round of copy editing to ensure highly readable articles that will reach and influence a wide audience of scholars, researchers, and professional designers, teachers and students, as well as leaders in business, industry, and government.
• Review articles. She Ji encourages literature review and research review. Review articles use double-blind, refereed peer review followed by copy editing.
• Case studies. She Ji publishes two kinds of case study articles. The journal welcomes original research articles involving rigorous case studies and reflection. Research case studies use double-blind, refereed peer review followed by copy editing. The journal also welcomes shorter reports in the short communications category.
• Short communications. She Ji welcomes short reports or and research announcements that describe work in progress and preliminary research results. Short communications are not subject to peer review.
• Book reviews. Books reviews focus on analysis and discussion of individual books as well as extended book reviews covering several books. She Ji also publishes short book notes. contents. Book reviews are not subject to peer review.
• Discussion articles. Discussion articles include interviews, opinion leader commentary, and dialogues. Discussion articles are not subject to peer review.
• Letters. She Ji encourages written responses to articles and original comments on issues relevant to the journal. Letters to the editor are limited to 1,500 words. All letters commenting on articles will be sent to the author of the original article for response. Selected letters will be published in She Ji. Letters are not subject to peer review.

The British Journal of Guidance & Counselling exists to communicate theoretical and practical writing of high quality in the guidance and counselling field. It is addressed to an international, interdisciplinary audience and welcomes submissions dealing with diverse theoretical orientations from practitioners and researchers from around the world. The focus of this multidisciplinary journal is the synthesis of research and application to promote positive development across the life span and across the globe. The journal publishes research that generates descriptive and explanatory knowledge about dynamic and reciprocal person-environment interactions essential to informed public dialogue, social policy, and preventive and development optimizing interventions. This includes research relevant to the development of individuals and social systems across the life span -- including the wide range of familial, biological, societal, cultural, physical, ecological, political and historical settings of human development.The applied developmental science orientation is defined by three conjoint emphases. The applied aspect reflects its direct implication for what individuals, families, practitioners, and policymakers do. The developmental aspect emphasizes a focus on systematic and successive changes within individual and social systems that occur across the life span. This assumption stresses the importance of understanding normative and atypical processes as they emerge within different developmental periods and across diverse biological, physical, social, cultural and political settings. The science aspect underscores the need to utilize a range of research methods to collect reliable and objective information in a systematic manner to test the validity of theory and application. The convergence of these three aspects leads to a fostering of a reciprocal relationship between theory and application as a cornerstone of applied developmental science, one wherein empirically based, developmental theory not only guides intervention strategies and social policy, but is influenced by the outcome of these activities. Furthermore, the convergence calls for a multidisciplinary perspective aimed at integrating information and skills drawn from relevant biological, medical, social, and behavioral science disciplines. Given this multidisciplinary orientation, the journal publishes hypothesis-generating as well as hypothesis-testing research employing any of a diverse array of rigorous qualitative as well as quantitative methodologies - multivariate-longitudinal studies, demographic analyses, secondary analyses of large data sets, evaluation research, intensive measurement studies, ethnographic interpretations, laboratory experiments, analyses of policy and/or policy engagement studies, or animal comparative studies - when they have important implications for the application of developmental science across the human life span. Manuscripts pertinent to the diversity of development throughout the life span -- cross-national and cross-cultural studies, systematic studies of psychopathology, and studies pertinent to gender, ethnic, and racial diversity -- are particularly welcome. The journal does not typically publish pilot studies.
