Research in Biomedical Engineering and Technology

ISSN: 2996-0347eISSN: 2996-0355

Brain-Computer Interfaces ( BCI) publishes high quality, original research articles encompassing analysis of theoretical and practical advances in brain-computer interface (BCI) technology.  Articles should expand upon novel and innovative research where the methods, analysis and conclusions are robust and of the highest standard.

A BCI measures brain activity and translates it into a form that can allow machines to compensate for lost or damaged brain functions, provide supplementary or augmented functions, or entrain lasting improvements in existing functions. The Journal recognizes that the field of BCI research is highly multi-disciplinary, and strives to integrate a range of perspectives from various disciplines in order to deepen understanding of the issues, challenges and solutions in the field. Brain-Computer Interfaces will be of interest to experts within the following fields:
  • neuroscience
  • biomedical engineering
  • neurosurgery
  • rehabilitation engineering
  • psychology
  • human factors
  • computer science and engineering
  • machine learning
  • electrical engineering
  • industrial and systems engineering
  • mechanical engineering
Brain-Computer Interfaces covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:
  • development and user-centered evaluation of engineered BCI applications with emphasis on the analysis of what aspects are crucial to making the system work, in addition to straightforward assessment of its success.
  • scientific investigation of patterns of brain activity that can, or show promise to be able to, be used to drive BCI applications.
  • development and evaluation of signal processing methods that extract signal features, classify them, and otherwise translate brain signals into device commands.
  • new invasive and noninvasive methods to monitor and acquire brain signals.
  • applications of BCI technology to understand human perception, affect, action, and various aspects of cognition and behavior.
  • ethical and sociological implications of BCI applications.
  • human factors and human-computer interaction (HCI) concerns in the design, development and evaluation of BCIs.
  • clinical trials and individual case studies of the experimental therapeutic application of BCIs.
  • behavioral studies of BCI use in humans and animals.
  • studies of neurosurgical techniques relevant to BCIs.
  • proposal, review and analysis of standards for BCI hardware, software and protocols.
All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Co-Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, will enter rigorous peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. The Journal operates single blind peer review and Submissions are to be made online via Editorial Manager
All published articles will be made available on PubMed Central and indexed in PubMed at the time of publication.

Journal of Micro and Bio Robotics

ISSN: 2194-6418eISSN: 2194-6426

The Journal of Micro-Bio Robotics is the synergistic integration of micro- and biotechnologies with Robotics. Strong research efforts are being focussed on development of micro/nanoscale or miniature robotic systems, which are biologically inspired, integrated with biological entities, or used for biological or biomedical applications.  This new journal aims to report the significant progress in these new research efforts. The Journal of Micro-Bio Robotics, a quarterly journal, is devoted to the theory, experiments,  and applications of micro- and biotechnologies and robotics. The Journal promotes both theoretical and practical engineering research based on the analysis and synthesis from the micro level to the bio level of robotics. The journal includes survey papers, technical papers, and short papers in the field of Micro and Bio Robotics.Potential authors are invited to submit original research articles for publication consideration.  Reviews and short communications may also be considered. All submissions will be peer reviewed subject to the standards of the journal. Manuscripts based on previously published conference papers must be extended substantially. Electronic submissions must be in PDF format and should be prepared according to the journal guidelines. The submissions should be performed through the journal submission system.

Journal of Phycology: An International Journal of Algal Research

ISSN: 0022-3646eISSN: 1529-8817

The Journal of Phycology was founded in 1965 by the Phycological Society of America. The Journal is a leading international journal and publishes research from all over the world. All aspects of basic and applied research on algae are included to provide a common medium for the ecologist, physiologist, cell biologist, molecular biologist, morphologist, oceanographer, acquaculturist, systematist, geneticist, and biochemist. The Journal also welcomes research that emphasizes algal interactions with other organisms and the roles of algae as components of natural ecosystems. Papers are accepted on the basis of their original and meritorious data and ideas; our focus is on research articles but mini-reviews and reviews are solicited on especially important and timely subjects. Comments, which are reviewed, may describe methods or equipment, discuss papers previously published in the Journal, or discuss other topics of interest to our readership. Other features include Algae Highlights, which draws attention to some of the important papers being published in each issue of the Journal or elsewhere, and Book Reviews. The Luigi Provasoli Award, named in honor of the founding Editor of the Journal, is presented annually by the Editorial Board to the authors who in the Board's judgment have published the best research paper in the previous year in the Journal.
