Journal Guide

Our journal showcases the latest peer-reviewed academic research on contemporary Chinese-language literature and its translation and global reception, alongside features on practitioners. The combination of academic articles and practice-based notes provides a platform for, and facilitates dialogue between, both primary and secondary actors in the field. A key objective of our journal is to engage directly with scholarship in East Asia, and to this end one section in each issue features newly commissioned English translations of the latest Chinese-language research. This journal is proud to be entirely Open Access.

The Journal of Applied Ichthyology publishes articles of international repute on ichthyology, aquaculture, and marine fisheries; ichthyopathology and ichthyoimmunology; environmental toxicology using fishes as test organisms; basic research on fishery management; and aspects of integrated coastal zone management in relation to fisheries and aquaculture. Emphasis is placed on the application of scientific research findings, while special consideration is given to ichthyological problems occurring in developing countries. Article formats include original articles, review articles, short communications, technical reports and book reviews. Fields of interest: All aspects of applied fisheries research and aquaculture, development and management of fisheries resources, ecotoxicology, fisheries ecology, fish health and pathology, genetics and coastal zone interactions with fisheries, fisheries in developing countries. The merger with AFMR broadens the scope to include basic science aspects in marine and freshwaters resource research, and ecological and economic scenarios that determine the success or failure of any application of biological research.

Journal of Coatings Technology and Research (JCTR) is a forum for the exchange of research, experience, knowledge and ideas among those with a professional interest in the science, technology and manufacture of functional, protective and decorative coatings including paints, inks and related coatings and their raw materials, and similar topics. JCTR offers Research papers, describing investigations of chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering studies relevant to surface coatings; Applications papers on experimental solutions for technological problems in the design, formulation, manufacture, application, use and performance of surface coatings; Review articles offering broad, critical overviews of advances in coatings science; and Brief Communications, presenting notes and letters on research topics of limited scope or immediate impact. JCTR is published in cooperation with the American Coatings Association (ACA) and the Oil & Colour Chemists' Association (OCCA).

Applied Nursing Research presents original, peer-reviewed research findings clearly and directly for clinical applications in all nursing specialties. Regular features include "Ask the Experts," research briefs, clinical methods, book reviews, news and announcements, and an editorial section. Applied Nursing Research covers such areas as pain management, patient education, discharge planning, nursing diagnosis, job stress in nursing, nursing influence on length of hospital stay, and nurse/physician collaboration. Archives of Pharmacal Research is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of original scientific research papers and reviews in the fields of drug discovery, drug development, and drug actions with a view to providing fundamental and novel information on drugs and drug candidates.

Manuscripts will be considered for publication on the condition that the results reported are based on original research that has not been published elsewhere in any journal.

Upon acceptance for publication of an article in Archives of Pharmacal Research, the author tacitly agrees to make available any materials used in the published experiments, or novel or natural products disclosed in the article that are not commercially available, so that other researchers may confirm the observations.

For the studies using natural extract, the journal will determine the acceptability of such papers on an individual basis. Natural product contribution must meet the following specific criteria: a) any n

1. The nature, processing and utilization of coal, petroleum, oil, shale, natural gas and biomass
2. Applied catalytic research in the chemistry of synthesis of new or alternative energy sources, such as hydrogen energy, fuel cell, synfuels, biofuels and C1 chemistry
3. Related research includes pollution control and environmental protection during fuel conversion and utilization processing, such as elimination of environmentally hazardous effluents, waste (refuse)-derived fuels and waste treatments

Research in Autism (REIA) publishes high quality empirical articles and reviews that contribute to a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) at all levels of description; genetic, neurobiological, cognitive, and behavioral. The primary focus of the journal is to bridge the gap between basic research at these levels, and the practical questions and difficulties that are faced by autistic individuals and their families, as well as carers, educators and clinicians. In addition, the journal encourages submissions on topics that remain under-researched in the field. We know shamefully little about the causes and consequences of the significant language and general intellectual impairments that are very common among the autism community. We know even less about the challenges that autistic women face and less still about the needs of autistic individuals as they grow older. Medical and psychological co-morbidities and the complications they bring with them for the diagnosis and treatment of ASD represents another area of relatively little research. At REIA we are committed to promoting high-quality and rigorous research on all of these issues, and we look forward to receiving many excellent submissions.

Research in Economics, formerly Ricerche Economiche, is one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious economics journals. It publishes selected original research papers in all areas of economics, both theoretical and applied, and related fields.Papers submitted are processed by one of the Associate Editors, who cover an extremely broad range of research areas in Economics in order to maintain the general-purpose nature of the journal whilst enforcing high-quality standards.Research in Economics welcomes survey articles and short notes. SEE is an international, open-access, peer reviewed journal that provides a venue for high-quality research conducted in all settings and contexts relevant to engineering education, with an emphasis on contextually rich reflective discussions of issues and approaches important to engineering education researchers and practitioners.

SEE focuses on interpretive research paradigms and invites a wide range of studies that help expand the body of knowledge in engineering education, including ethnographic, anthropological, phenomenological, and other forms of empirical research, as well as literature reviews and theoretical or conceptual articles that seek to frame critical issues in the field. Studies can be conducted in any context relevant to engineering education, including K-12, higher education, classroom settings, and the engineering workplace.

To support an intellectually vibrant vision of the field, SEE encourages rich and thorough descriptions of all aspects of research, including theoretical frameworks, epistemological underpinnings, researcher backgrounds and perspectives, impacts of contextual factors in data collection, research quality, and other appropriate aspects.

To promote dialogue among scholars, the journal also welcomes respectful and productive commentary & response pieces that engage individual articles and authors in deeper discussions of the implications of the work.

The principal aim of Biological Rhythm Research is to unite in one scientific journal all reports in the field of biological rhythm research which in the past were scattered over many scientific journals covering a great number of different disciplines. By bringing these papers together the Editorial Board stimulates interdisciplinary rhythm research not only because of the similarity of the methods applied in different fields of research, but also because of the increasing conviction of many scientists that, apart from the direct mechanisms involved in various rhythmic phenomena, many of these may be subjected to common extraneous controlling or masking influences. The Journal of Marine and Island Cultures, an international journal, is the official journal of the Institution for Marine and Island Cultures, Republic of Korea. The Journal of Marine and Island Cultures publishes peer-reviewed, original research papers, reviews, reports, and comments covering all aspects of the humanities and cultural issues pertaining to the marine and island environment. In addition the journal publishes articles that present integrative research conducted across interdisciplinary boundaries, including studies examining the sustainability of the living environment, nature-ecological resources and the socio-economic systems of islands and islanders. The journal particularly encourages the submission of papers relating to marine and island cultures in the Asia-Pacific Region as well as in the American, European and Mediterranean Regions.

Mining bioinformatics data is an emerging area at the intersection between bioinformatics and data mining. The objective of the IJDMB is to facilitate collaboration between data mining researchers and bioinformaticians by presenting cutting edge research topics and methodologies in the area of data mining for bioinformatics. This perspective acknowledges the inter-disciplinary nature of the research in data mining and bioinformatics and provides a unified forum for researchers/practitioners/students/policy makers to share the latest research and developments in this fast growing multi-disciplinary research area.

Language Teaching Research (LTR) supports and develops investigation and research within the area of second or foreign language teaching. Research of both a quantitative and qualitative (including ethnographic) orientation is of interest to the journal, which as a matter of policy publishes work related to the teaching of any second language, not just English. A wide range of topics in the area of language teaching is covered, including: programme; syllabus; materials design; methodology; the teaching of specific skills and language for specific purposes.

BioEnergy Research fills a void in the rapidly growing area of feedstock biology research related to biomass, biofuels, and bioenergy. The journal publishes a wide range of articles, including peer-reviewed scientific research, reviews, perspectives and commentary, industry news, and government policy updates. Its coverage brings together a uniquely broad combination of disciplines with a common focus on feedstock biology and science, related to biomass, biofeedstock, and bioenergy production.

Neurobiology of Sleep and Circadian Rhythms is a multidisciplinary journal for the publication of original research and review articles on basic, translational and clinical research into sleep. It focuses on the mechanisms of sleep/wake and circadian regulation at the molecular and systems level and on research to examine the function of sleep. The translation of basic research findings to understand and treat sleep and circadian disorders is a key aim of the journal.

Water Resources Research (WRR) is an interdisciplinary journal that focuses on hydrology and water resources. It publishes original research in the natural and social sciences of water. It emphasizes the role of water in the Earth system, including physical, chemical, biological, and ecological processes in water resources research and management, including social, policy, and public health implications. It encompasses observational, experimental, theoretical, analytical, numerical, and data-driven approaches that advance the science of water and its management. Submissions are evaluated for their novelty, accuracy, significance, and broader implications of the findings. 

The aim of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education (popularly known as QSE) is to enhance the practice and theory of qualitative research in education, with 8220;education8221; defined in the broadest possible sense, including non-school settings. QSE publishes peer-reviewed empirical research employing a variety of qualitative methods and approaches, such as ethnographic observation and interviewing, grounded theory, life history, case study, curriculum criticism, policy studies, narrative, ethnomethodology, social and educational critique, phenomenology, deconstruction, genealogy, autoethnography, etc. In addition, innovative or provocative approaches to qualitative research as well as the way research is reported are encouraged. Theoretical papers are also welcome. We publish discussions of epistemology, methodology, or ethics of qualitative research from a range of perspectives, including (but not limited to) interpretivism, constructivism, critical theory, feminism, and race-based, lesbian/gay/bi/transgender (including queer theory), and poststructural ones. Furthermore, there is a strong interest in qualitative research conducted by researchers throughout the world, and the Journal publishes book reviews.
