The primary aim of the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery is to provide a medium for the publication of high-quality original scientific reports documenting progress in cardiac and thoracic surgery. The journalpublishes reports of significant clinical and experimental advances related to surgery of the heart, the great vessels and the chest. Special emphasis is placed on contribution from the European countries. The journal is supported by a number of leading European societies.The European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery welcomes original articles, editorials, case reports, how-to-do-it reports, reviews, Imagesin cardio-thoracic Surgery, and Letters to the Editor. Papers are submitted to a peer review by the members of Editorial and Advisory Board and by other invited reviewers. The European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing is the International Journal of the European Society of Cardiology dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in the field of cardiovascular nursing: promoting evidence-based clinical practice. The journal publishes original articles, short report reviews and editorials in order to improve the quality of nursing care for patients with cardiovascular disease. Original contributions on the broad field of cardiovascular nursing are welcome, including chronic and acute care, paediatric cardiology, grown up congenital heart disease, cardiac rehabilitation, primary and secondary prevention, heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, interventional cardiology, cardiac care, preventive cardiology, and vascular nursing.Scientific contributions can be related to all aspects of care: education, research, patient care or organisational aspects. The European Journal of Cell Biology, a journal of experimental cell investigation, publishes reviews, original articles and short communications on the structure, function and macromolecular organization of cells and cell components. Contributions focusing on cellular dynamics, motility and differentiation, particularly if related to cellular biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, neurobiology, and developmental biology are encouraged. Manuscripts describing significant technical advances are also welcome. In addition, papers dealing with biomedical issues of general interest to cell biologists will be published. Contributions addressing cell biological problems in prokaryotes and plants are also welcome.

EJCI considers any original contribution from the most sophisticated basic molecular sciences to applied clinical and translational research and evidence-based medicine across a broad range of subspecialties. The EJCI publishes reports of high-quality research that pertain to the genetic, molecular, cellular, or physiological basis of human biology and disease, as well as research that addresses prevalence, diagnosis, course, treatment, and prevention of disease. We are primarily interested in studies directly pertinent to humans, but submission of robust in vitro and animal work is also encouraged. Interdisciplinary work and research using innovative methods and combinations of laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological methodologies and techniques is of great interest to the journal. Several categories of manuscripts (for detailed description see below) are considered: editorials, original articles (also including randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses), reviews (narrative reviews), opinion articles (including debates, perspectives and commentaries); and letters to the Editor.

EJCMID is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of communications on infectious diseases of bacterial, viral and parasitic origin. The journal welcomes full articles presenting original research results, invited editorials, and reviews on the following topics:General epidemiology and diagnostics of infectious agentsClinical infectious diseases researchGenetics and phenotypes of host susceptibility towards infectious disease or colonizationUse of animal models to study bacterial infections and the imaging of such infections

Studies should primarily be performed from a mechanistic point of view with emphasis on the inter-relatedness of molecular features with clinical presentation of infections. Papers on the translational application of basic research findings will be prioritized.

European Journal of Clinical Nutrition (EJCN) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing articles related to human and clinical nutrition. The scope of the journal includes publishing Original Articles, Invited Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Clinical Trials papers and Short Communications based on clinical, metabolic and epidemiological studies that describe methodologies, mechanisms, associations and benefits of nutritional interventions for clinical disease and health promotion. Editorials, Letters to the Editor, Response to Letter and Commentaries also feature in EJCN. EJCN also publishes Supplements to the main journal which feature papers from important international expert consultations and proceedings of relevant meetings and conferences.EJCN aims to cover all aspects of human and clinical nutrition: Clinical and whole body metabolic investigations; Epidemiological, social and behavioural studies in nutrition; Nutritional determinants of growth, development and health; Assessment and measurement of nutritional status and indicators, and their relation to function and health; Nutritional causes and effects of disease; Nutritional interventions in clinical practice and in population settings; Community nutrition and education; and Nutrition, population health and health promotion. Manuscripts based on animal nutrition and in vitro studies will not be considered for publication.

The European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology publishes original papers, short communications, and letters to the editors on all aspects of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy in humans. Coverage includes therapeutic trials; pharmacokinetics; drug metabolism; adverse drug reactions; drug interactions; all aspects of drug development; prescribing policies; pharmacoepidemiology; and matters relating to the safe use of drugs. Data from animal experiments are published only in the context of parallel experiments in man reported in the same paper. The journal also publishes review articles on special problems related to these areas, and encourages debate on controversial issues.

The European Journal of Combinatorics is a high standard, international, bimonthly journal of pure mathematics, specializing in theories arising from combinatorial problems. The journal is primarily open to papers dealing with mathematical structures within combinatorics and/or establishing direct links between combinatorics and other branches of mathematics and the theories of computing. The European Control Association (EUCA) has among its objectives to promote the development of the discipline. Apart from the European Control Conferences, the European Journal of Control is the Association's main channel for the dissemination of important contributions in the field.The aim of the Journal is to publish high quality papers on the theory and practice of control and systems engineering.The scope of the Journal will be wide and cover all aspects of the discipline including methodologies, techniques and applications.Research in control and systems engineering is necessary to develop new concepts and tools which enhance our understanding and improve our ability to design and implement high performance control systems. There is no standard format for a discussion section, but its contents should serve to help the readership. For example, views could be expressed on the contribution of the paper in a particular area, its likely impact on industrial practice could be described, or directions for further work suggested. Whatever format the discussion takes, it will be concluded by the author(s). Invitations to participate in the discussion will only be sent out after the paper has been accepted, and all contributors will appear in the issues Table of Contents.
