A new international and interdisciplinary forum, Fullerenes, Nanotubes, and Carbon Nanostructures, aims at publishing peer-reviewed research of original work in all areas of fullerene research. Publishing high quality papers from all fields of scientific inquiry related to fullerenes, the journal intends to provide a means of communication between researchers who are interested in fundamental and applied fullerene science issues. Function publishes original full research articles, but also short Focus articles that report an important new observation, based on solid evidence, but without the full exploration required for a full paper. All full research articles will be accompanied by a perspective article, written by an acknowledged expert in the field. A new type of Evidence Review article, quoting only original papers, will be commissioned from leading experts, but suggestions for such articles are welcome. All scientific content published in the journal goes through a comprehensive, quick, and fair review process overseen by experts in the field, but in addition Function will also publish editorials and opinion pieces. Functional & Integrative Genomics is devoted to large-scale studies of genomes and their functions, including systems analyses of biological processes. Topics covered include: - Whole genome analyses/bioinformatics/expression profiling - Genomics (structural, comparative, integrative) - Proteomics and Metabolomics (integrated with function) - Metagenomics - Human disease genes and loci - Large-scale/high throughput analysis of biological systems Emphasis will be placed on manuscripts addressing important biological problems using large-scale systems and approaches. Studies on bacterial, fungal, protista, plant and animal genomes are welcome. Papers describing new techniques will only be considered for publication if they are sufficiently novel and broadly applicable.
