Journal Guide

The Journal was founded in 1936, being the first special journal in the area of control. At present the scope of the journal is entirely control theory problems and applications. The journal publishes surveys, original papers, and short communications in the field of control theory (deterministic, stochastic, adaptive, robust formulations) and its applications (computer control, components and instruments, process control, social and economy control, etc.).

Automation in Construction is an international journal for the publication of original research papers. The journal publishes refereed material on all aspects pertaining to the use of Information Technologies in Design, Engineering, Construction Technologies, and Maintenance and Management of Constructed Facilities. The scope of Automation in Construction is broad, encompassing all stages of the construction life cycle from initial planning and design, through construction of the facility, its operation and maintenance, to the eventual dismantling and recycling of buildings and engineering structures. The following list of topics is not intended to be exhaustive, but rather to indicate topics that fall within the journal's purview:

• Computer-aided design, product modeling, decision support systems, classification and standardization, product data interchange
• Computer-aided engineering, process simulation models, graphics
• Robotics, metrology, logistics, automated inspection, demolition/remediation

The aim of the Journal is to stimulate, publish and disseminate original investigations on the autonomic nervous system: this includes the innervation of blood vessels and viscera, autonomic ganglia, efferent and afferent autonomic pathways, and autonomic nuclei and pathways in the central nervous system.The Editors will consider papers that deal with any aspect of the autonomic nervous system, including structure, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, development, evolution, ageing, behavioural aspects, integrative role and influence on emotional and physical states of the body. Interdisciplinary studies will be encouraged. Studies dealing with human pathology will be also welcome.The main types of contribution are full-length articles. These should be as concise as possible and should describe original research that materially advances knowledge of the autonomic nervous system.Short communications, book reviews and short review articles will be considered for publication.

Autonomic & Autacoid Pharmacology is an international journal dealing with the interactions of drugs and related substances with the central and peripheral divisions of the autonomic nervous system and its effector organs and tissues. All aspects of basic experimental pharmacology in intact animals, isolated tissues and biochemical systems of tissue fractions are covered. This includes the effects of drugs acting on the autonomic nervous system and its effector organs in humans. The drugs under examination are primarily those with actions on the cardiovascular, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems of the body. The effector organs of the autonomic nervous system is interpreted in its widest sense to include substances affecting smooth and cardiac muscle in general. The scope of the journal has widened to include the pharmacology of autacoids including angiotensin, endothelin, kinins, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, opioids, cytokines, histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine.

It features papers that include performance data on actual robots in the real world. Coverage includes: control of autonomous robots · real-time vision · autonomous wheeled and tracked vehicles · legged vehicles · computational architectures for autonomous systems · distributed architectures for learning, control and adaptation · studies of autonomous robot systems · sensor fusion · theory of autonomous systems · terrain mapping and recognition · self-calibration and self-repair for robots · self-reproducing intelligent structures · genetic algorithms as models for robot development. The focus is on the ability to move and be self-sufficient, not on whether the system is an imitation of biology. Of course, biological models for robotic systems are of major interest to the journal since living systems are prototypes for autonomous behavior.

Autophagy, is a unique peer-reviewed journal with an international audience that covers the following topics: macroautophagy, microautophagy, specific organelle degradation (e.g., pexophagy) and additional autophagic processes including chaperone-mediated autophagy; the molecular mechanism of autophagy including the characterization of structural proteins and structure/function relationships; signaling and autophagic regulation; the role of autophagy in diseases including cancer, neurodegeneration and myopathies; developmental roles of autophagy and its connection with aging; autophagy in microbial invasion and the immune response; and autophagy in cell death.Autophagy publishes several types of papers including: Original research (both basic science and translational), reviews (both comprehensive overviews and short puncta), technical papers (toolbox, protocol and resource), commentaries, and articles on science and art.
