Special Reports are commissioned by the Stratigraphy Commission and comprise mostly Correlation Charts for each Series within the UK.

The Geological Society is one of the largest publishers of Earth science books in the world, producing a wide range of peer-reviewed titles. Most books are published within one of a number of key series – Special Publications, Engineering Geology Special Publications, Memoirs, or the “Geology of...” series. Others are published in conjunction with other international Earth science organisations such as IAVCEI and TMS. The Society also has an agreement with IUGS to publish books within GSL series.
