Analytic Methods in Accident Research publishes manuscripts that deal with the development and/or application of new and novel methodologies to the study of vehicle crashes and other transportation and non-transportation-related accidents. The intent of the journal is to demonstrate how innovative methodological approaches can be used to provide new insights and quantification of the factors that affect the frequency and severity of accidents - thus providing new guidance for the implementation of appropriate countermeasures. While the focus of the journal is on the underlying analytic approach, acceptable application areas include all elements of transportation safety (road, pedestrian, air, rail, and water safety), construction safety, and any area of study where the unintended consequences of human behavior, machine failures or system failures result in property damage and/or bodily injury.
Analytica Chimica Acta provides a forum for the rapid publication of original research, and critical reviews dealing with all aspects of fundamental and applied modern analytical science. The journal welcomes the submission of research papers which report studies concerning the development of new and significant analytical methodologies. In determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, particular scrutiny will be placed on the degree of novelty and significance of the research and the extent to which it adds to existing knowledge in analytical chemistry.Manuscripts detailing fundamental research on all aspects of analytical theory and methodology (including chemometric techniques), such as innovative instrumental, chemical and biological approaches, detectors and sensors, sample treatment methods and data treatment are especially encouraged. On the other hand, papers describing the use of routine analytical methods or straightforward extension of these methods to new sample matrices will normally not be published unless new developments are described which can be demonstrated to give very clear and quantifiable advantages over existing methods. In all submissions to the journal, authors must address the question of how their proposed methodology compares with previously reported methods. It will normally be expected that where new analytical methodologies and developments are described these will be applied to a sample matrix of suitable analytical complexity. In such cases appropriate validation of the method should be provided, together with proper statistical treatment of data. Analytical performance characteristics of new methods should be given, including sensitivity, detection limits, accuracy, precision, and interferences.Reviews are normally written by prior agreement of the editors. Potential authors are encouraged to discuss the subject matter of a proposed review with the review editor, and will be asked to provide a brief outline of the subject matter of the proposed review. Review articles should be sufficiently broad in scope to appeal to a wide cross-section of the journal's readership, but should be specific enough to permit discussion to be made at an appropriate depth. Basic methodology and principles should not be included in reviews, but suitable reference should be made to sources of this information. Above all, reviews should be critical rather than enumerative and should provide the reader with expert opinion regarding the relative merits of the various published approaches to the topic under review. Figures and Tables are encouraged in review articles. Tutorials describing the fundamental principles and practical operational details of a given analytical technique, sample processing approach or chemometric method are also welcome.
Analytical Biochemistry emphasizes methods in the biological and biochemical sciences. The journal publishes the results of original research as well as reviews of methods.Publishing Methods in:• Analytical techniques• Membranes and membrane proteins• Molecular genetics: cloning, sequencing, and mutagenesis• Novel methods of protein purification• Immunological techniques applicable to biochemistry• Immunoassays that introduce a unique approach• Cell biology• General cell and organ culture• Pharmacological and toxicological research techniquesAnalytical Biochemistry includes two additional major sections:• Reviews - review articles on methods for biological and biochemical sciences• Notes and Tips - a new section featuring methods that can be summarized in a shorter format allowing more rapid publication, including helpful "kitchen tricks."
Manuscripts detailing fundamental research on all aspects of analytical theory and methodology, such as innovative instrumental, chemical and biological approaches, detectors and sensors, sample treatment methods and data treatment are encouraged. Papers describing the use of routine analytical methods or straightforward extension of these methods to new sample matrices will normally not be published unless a degree of novelty is highlighted which can be demonstrated to give very clear and quantifiable advantages over existing methods. Authors should address the question of how their proposed methodology compares with previously reported methods and the method should comprise information on selectivity, sensitivity, detection limits, accuracy, and reliability. Proper statistical treatment of the data should be provided. Relevant literature should be cited, including related publications by the authors, and authors should discuss how their proposed methodology compares with previously reported methods.

Anthropocene publishes peer-reviewed works addressing the nature, scale, and extent of the influence that people have on Earth. The scope of the journal includes the effects of human activities on landscapes, oceans, the atmosphere, cryosphere, and ecosystems over a range of time and space scales - from global phenomena over geologic eras to single isolated events - including changes to the exchanges, linkages, and feedbacks among the systems.Articles could address how the human influence on Earth may produce a distinct geological record, and how these signals may compare with the great perturbations in Earth's history. Theoretical and empirical contributions linking societal responses to human-induced landscape change are also welcomed. As humans have emerged as a dominant agent of change on Earth's system, the journal serves to focus research findings, discussions, and debates to account explicitly for human interactions with Earth's systems. The aim is to provide a venue toward meeting one of the grand challenges of our time.Anthropocene welcomes the following types of manuscripts:- Original research articles that meet the Aims and Scope of the journal, with typical length of text in the 5000-7000 word range. Research articles may include specific case studies if these studies demonstrate theoretical significance and broad systemic relevance.- Review papers and Prospects that assess the state of knowledge of a particular subfield or topic, that point toward future research needs and directions. These review articles, with a typical length within 8000 words, may include some new data or synthesis of existing data that produce new understanding.- Short communications include commentaries and viewpoints on specific issues, discussions and replies of articles published in the journal, and shorter papers addressing timely topics that are reviewed and published rapidly. The length of these articles should be within 2000-4000 words.More information will be added over the coming weeks. Aquatic Toxicology publishes original scientific papers dealing with the mechanisms of toxicity and the responses to toxic agents in aquatic environments at the community, species, tissue, cellular, subcellular and molecular levels, including aspects of uptake, metabolism and excretion of toxicants. The aim of the journal is to increase our understanding of the impact of toxicants on aquatic organisms and ecosystems. Studies with aquatic model systems that provide fundamental mechanistic insight to toxic effects on organisms in general are also welcome. Both laboratory and field studies will be considered. The mechanistic focus includes genetic disturbances and adaptations to environmental perturbations, including the evolution of toxicant responses; biochemical, physiological and behavioural responses of organisms to toxicants; interactions of genetic and functional responses, and interactions between natural and toxicant-induced environmental changes. The bioaccumulation of contaminants is considered when studies address mechanisms influencing accumulation. Ecological investigations that address reasons, possibly also considering their genetic and physiological aspects, for toxicant-induced alterations of aquatic communities or populations are suitable.Reports on technique development or monitoring efforts are generally not within the scope of Aquatic Toxicology, except those concerning new methodologies for mechanistic research with an example of their application. Identification of toxicants or toxicologically relevant molecules in organisms will be considered only if the identification is a part of a more comprehensive mechanistic study. Whenever possible, information of exposure should be based on measured concentrations and not nominal or assumed ones. Manuscripts reporting acute toxicity data (lethal concentration, LC-50 or lethal dose, LD-50) as a major finding are usually not considered.
