Metabolic Engineering

ISSN: 1096-7176eISSN: 1096-7184

Aims and Scope:Metabolic Engineering (MBE) is devoted to the publication of original research papers on the directed modulation of metabolic pathways for metabolite over production or the improvement of cellular properties. Papers describing native pathway engineering and synthesis of heterologous pathways for converting microorganisms into microbial cell factories are also welcome.Experimental, computational, and modelling approaches for the elucidation of metabolic pathways and their manipulation by genetic, media, or other environmental means are presented. Efficient probing of metabolic pathways requires the application of appropriate methods from molecular biology and biochemistry, along with modeling and data analysis techniques from engineering. MBE provides a forum for communicating such interdisciplinary research, as well as relevant results in the constituent areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, applied microbiology, cellular physiology, cellular nutrition in health and disease, and biochemical engineering.Types of papers:Original Research Papers, Review Papers.

MethodsX

eISSN: 2215-0161
DOAJ Logo

Methods X publishes the small but important customizations you make to methods every day. By releasing the hidden gems from your lab book, you can get credit for the time, effort and money you've put in to making methods work for you. And because it is open access, it is even more visible and citable, giving your work the exposure it deserves.

MethodsX provides an outlet for technical information that can be useful for others working in the same field, and help them save time in their own research, while giving you the deserved credit for your efforts. Since this is relevant for any field doing experimental work, MethodsX welcomes submissions from all research areas.

MethodsX puts the technical aspects of your work into the spotlight. Publish essential details of the tweaks you have made to a method, without spending time on writing up a traditional article, with detailed background and contextual information. Your MethodsX article showcases the work you've done to customize a method. It's that simple.

A MethodsX article features:

  • an abstract to outline the customization
  • a graphical abstract visual to illustrate what you've done
  • the method(s) in sufficient detail to help people replicate it, including any relevant figures, tables etc
  • up to 25 references to the original description of the method you're using

While keeping focused on the technical aspect of the work, evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols needs to be provided. This should be immediately evident to the reader.

To see some examples please click http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/22150161here

Before submitting, please make sure your manuscript complies with the following criteria:

  1. The article is written in standard English and clearly understandable
  2. The manuscript adheres to the MethodsX format, see the http://www.elsevier.com/journals/methodsx/2215-0161/guide-for-authorsauthor guidelines
  3. Control data supporting the claims made are included: evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols is provided
  4. The method should describe a change over established practices

Note that manuscripts not adhering to the above points may be rejected without full peer review.

Please use the MethodsX http://cdn.elsevier.com/promis_misc/MEX_ArticleTemplate.docxarticle template when compiling your manuscript.

Microbes and Infection

ISSN: 1286-4579eISSN: 1769-714X

Microbes and Infection publishes 12 peer-reviewed issues per year in all fields of infection and immunity, covering the different levels of host-microbe interactions, and in particular:the molecular biology and cell biology of the crosstalk between hosts (human and experimental animals) and microbes (viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi), including molecular virulence and evasion mechanisms.the immune response to infection, including pathogenesis and host susceptibility.emerging human infectious diseases.molecular epidemiology/genetics of host pathogen interactions.vaccine development, including novel strategies and adjuvants.Clinical studies, accounts of clinical trials and biomarker studies in infectious diseases are within the scope of the journal.Microbes and Infection publishes articles on human pathogens or pathogens of model systems. However, articles on other microbes can be published if they contribute to our understanding of basic mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions. Purely descriptive and preliminary studies are discouraged.Reviews on recent progress in the field are commissioned by editors.Special issues focus on the present knowledge of a virulent microbe and the disease it causes, the immune response in infectious disease, or on critical issues relevant to the scope of the journal. The journal is just entering its 16th year of publication, and Essential Science IndicatorsSM (ESI) states that "Microbes and Infection has had a significant impact in the field of Immunology." If you are interested in knowing more about the journal's contributions to immunology, you may wish to read the interview with S.H.E.
