Reactive and Functional Polymers

ISSN: 1381-5148eISSN: 1873-166X

The Journal publishes papers dealing with new ideas and developments in the science and technology of polymers with functional groups that provide specific chemical reactivity or physico-chemical behaviour. The scope covers organic and inorganic functional polymers, acting as reagents, catalysts, carriers of protecting groups, templates, ion-exchangers, selective sorbents, chelating agents, supports for enzymes and cells, and the like. It also includes reactive cross-linkable prepolymers, degradable or bioactive polymers, polymer resists, conducting polymers, and film-forming polymers.Contributions have to present thorough molecular and material characterisation data, and may deal with the synthesis of the above polymers or with their applications in organic synthesis, catalysis, water or effluent treatment, separations, recovery, lithography, microelectronics, information storage, energy conversion, diagnostics, drug delivery, coating and encapsulation, and adhesion. The Journal addresses two main audiences: those engaged in the synthesis of new materials and the development of novel techniques, and those concerned with technology and practical applications in the laboratory or plant. The Journal encourages, and serves as a forum for, the dialogue between these two groups.Papers on a broad spectrum of topics are encouraged. Emphasis is on work at the frontiers of science or technology and furthering the interaction between researcher and practical engineer, rather than on details of theory or application. Full-length papers and review articles will be considered. However, authors intending to write a review should contact an Editor first. Uninvited reviews will not be considered. All material submitted must be original, that is it may not have been submitted elsewhere for publication.Lack of originality, insufficient molecular characterisation, poor comparison with the current state of literature and with the authors' own production are, individually, sufficient reasons for rejection.

Articles focus on the application of in vitro, animal and clinical research to the practice of clinical medicine. All aspects of reproduction are within the scope of Reproductive Toxicology, including the formation and maturation of male and female gametes, sexual function, the events surrounding the fusion of gametes and the development of the fertilized ovum, nourishment and transport of the conceptus within the genital tract, implantation, embryogenesis, intrauterine growth, placentation and placental function, parturition, lactation and neonatal survival. Adverse reproductive effects in males will be considered as significant as adverse effects occurring in females. To provide a balanced presentation of approaches, equal emphasis will be given to clinical and animal or in vitro work. Typical end points that will be studied by contributors include infertility, sexual dysfunction, spontaneous abortion, malformations, abnormal histogenesis, stillbirth, intrauterine growth retardation, prematurity, behavioral abnormalities, and perinatal mortality. In addition to original research articles, Reproductive Toxicology also publishes interpretative review articles, editorials, letters, book reviews, and conference announcements. The first section of each issue of the journal is devoted to an in-depth, timely review of research on the effect of particular chemical or physical agents on reproduction. Potential authors are encouraged to contact the Editor-in-Chief before submitting such a review.

Research Policy

ISSN: 0048-7333eISSN: 1873-7625

Research Policy (RP) articles examine empirically and theoretically the interaction between innovation, technology or research, on the one hand, and economic, social, political and organizational processes, on the other. All RP papers are expected to yield findings that have implications for policy or management.Aims and Scope:Research Policy (RP) is a multi-disciplinary journal devoted to analyzing, understanding and effectively responding to the economic, policy, management, organizational, environmental and other challenges posed by innovation, technology, R&D and science. This includes a number of related activities concerned with the creation of knowledge (through research), the diffusion and acquisition of knowledge (e.g. through organizational learning), and its exploitation in the form of new or improved products, processes or services.RP is generally acknowledged to be the leading journal in the field of innovation studies, with its academic status and influence being reflected in a remarkably high 'Impact Factor' for a multi-disciplinary social science journal (please see below).Authors intending to submit a paper to RP should first check whether that paper is consistent with the journal's Editorial Strategy as detailed in the Guide for Authors. RP uses an online submission process, http://ees.elsevier.com/respol/ and all papers are subject to a 'double-blind' review process, details as in the Guide for Authors. Besides research articles and notes, RP also publishes a variety of other types of papers including Special Issues (or shorter Special Sections) occasional discussion papers on important topical issues, and book reviews, again further information in the Guide for Authors.Main Subjects Covered:Economics of Innovation/Technology/Science; Entrepreneurs/Entrepreneurship; Evolutionary or (neo-)Schumpeterian Economics; Geography of Innovation - e.g. industrial clusters; Indicators - science, technology, R&D, innovation etc.; Innovation and Sustainability; Innovation Management/Organization/Policy/Strategy; Innovation Systems - national, regional, sectoral, technological; Knowledge - creation/production, diffusion/transfer/exchange, adoption/exploitation etc.; Learning (e.g. organizational) and Experimentation; Product and Process Development; Networks - e.g. research/ R&D collaboration, university-industry links, regional clusters, supply chains; Research and Development (R&D) Management/Policy/Strategy; Research Policy; Resource-Based View of the Firm - competence/capability (e.g. absorptive, core, dynamic); Science Policy; Sociotechnical Paradigms/Regimes; Technological Paradigms/Trajectories; Technological problem-solving; Technology Management/Policy/Strategy.Impact factor:Research Policy's impact factor has increased appreciably over recent years, rising from 1.078 in 2000 to 1.536 in 2004 and 2.655 in 2008. (There was a slight drop to 2.261 in 2009 following an expansion in the number of RP articles published in 2008.) In 2008, the journal ranked 11th among the world's top journals in "Management" and 1st in the "Planning & Development" category as ranked by Thompson Reuters, Social Sciences Citation Index Index® (© Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports, 2008).RP's Impact factor compares extremely well with that of leading journals in the neighbouring fields of Economics (where its 2008 impact factor would place it in 10th position, up from 29th position in 2000), Political Science (where it would currently rank 2nd), Sociology (3rd), Environmental Sciences (3rd) and other interdisciplinary social science journals.

Research in Microbiology

ISSN: 0923-2508

1887-The beginnings of the journalResearch in Microbiology is the direct descendant of the original Pasteur periodical entitled Annales de l'Institut Pasteur, created in 1887 by Emile Duclaux under the patronage of Louis Pasteur. The Editorial Committee included Chamberland, Grancher, Nocard, Roux and Straus, and the first issue began with Louis Pasteur's "Lettre sur la Rage" which clearly defines the spirit of the journal:"You have informed me, my dear Duclaux, that you intend to start a monthly collection of articles entitled "Annales de l'Institut Pasteur". You will be rendering a service that will be appreciated by the ever increasing number of young scientists who are attracted to microbiological studies. In your Annales, our laboratory research will of course occupy a central position, but the work from outside groups that you intend to publish will be a source of competitive stimulation for all of us."That first volume included 53 articles as well as critical reviews and book reviews. From that time on, the Annales appeared regularly every month, without interruption, even during the two world wars. Although the journal has undergone many changes over the past 100 years (in the title, the format, the language) reflecting the evolution in scientific publishing, it has consistently maintained the Pasteur tradition by publishing original reports on all aspects of microbiology.Originally founded as the " Annales de l'Institut Pasteur ", Research in Microbiology has been a leading source of up-to-date information in the field of microbiology for more than a century. It publishes papers based on original research in fundamental and applied biology of bacteria, archaea and lower eukaryotes. It covers all aspects of the microbial taxonomy, phylogeny, ecology, physiology and metabolism, molecular genetics and genomics, as well as the interactions between microbes and interactions of microbes with their environment. Research in Microbiology currently publishes 10 issues a year, including an annual Forum issue, original articles, reviews, and letters to the Editor.Indexed in Medline, Excerpta Medica / EMbase, Science Citation Index, Current Contents (Life Sciences)On-line services:For on-line submission:http://pasteur.fontismedia.com/res/ For full-text articles, abstracts, contents, references: http://www.sciencedirect.com For the journal homepage at Elsevier:http://www.elsevier.com/locate/resmic

Revista Iberoamericana de Educacion Superior

ISSN: 2007-2872

The Revista Iberoamericana de Educación Superior (RIES) came into being as a joint initiative of Universia, an Latin American network for university collaboration comprising some 1 169 universities and higher-education institutions and the Institute for University and Education Research (IISUE) - formerly the Center for University Studies (CESU)-of Mexico's National Autonomous University (UNAM), whose background in higher-education research is widely recognized in Latin America. It is a digital publication that seeks to reflect the status of higher-education research in the region.

The RIES seeks to act as a space for compiling research on higher-education systems in Latin America and a meeting place for the analysis, research and findings of the different Latin American institutions in the higher-education system.

Although there are several recognized journals of educational research -and indeed some specializing in higher education-the RIES seeks to fill an important void in Latin America, in that it will be the first regional electronic journal on the subject. Its digital format places it at the vanguard of journals specializing in this topic, since it provides practically universal access.

The RIES is open to all proposals that are the fruit of documentary or empirical research and whose aim is to study some aspect of higher-education systems, projects and institutions based on any approach, school of thought, discipline or multidiscipline. It will thus publish papers on any of the issues from which this system can be examined in contemporary debate: international and national policies; comparative studies; coverage; relevance; professional training; linkage; financing; assessment, accreditation and quality; governance and governability; planning and management, etc.

It has been conceived following the frameworks that define a scientific-academic journal, in line with the standards contained in different Latin American indexes and databases, and seeks to feature the work of the region's most prestigious academicians along with the findings of those who are just beginning to stand out in this field of study. It will be made up of six sections: Territories, Genealogies, Outlines, Resonances, Visions, and Archives.

The collaborations published will always follow strict scientific and academic standards and will be reviewed by widely respected researchers, since it is the RIES' aim to become an obligatory reference for education authorities, decision makers, researchers and academicians, and for graduate and postgraduate students.

In addition to the director, the RIES has two collegiate bodies that will oversee the journal's academic development and operation: the Editorial Council and the Publishing Committee.

Revista Mexicana de Opinion Publica

Perfil y contenido
