Burnout Research

eISSN: 2213-0586

Burnout has been an important social issue for many years, with an increasing number of people from various disciplines doing research to understand the phenomenon and to suggest solutions for the problems that burnout poses. This research is being carried out in many countries around the world, so it is clear that burnout has global significance. Recently, there has been a growing interest in developing interventions to reduce burnout, from government agencies and organizations in both the public and private sectors. Without a doubt, burnout poses a major challenge for society. Given the ongoing importance of the burnout phenomenon, and the rising interest in making real progress in alleviating it, there is a need for a primary venue for the many research contributions being made.

Burnout Research is a peer-reviewed international journal aimed at presenting basic, translational and clinical high-quality research related to the phenomenon of burnout. As the first journal dedicated to understanding the causes and consequences of burnout, and potential solutions to the problem, Burnout Research welcomes original research articles, review articles, case reports, and opinion pieces. The goal of the journal is to publish the top research in three major areas:

  • Cutting-edge research that lays out new directions for the burnout field, including new research paradigms and measures, new theoretical models, and new collaborations between researchers and practitioners. For example:
    • Multiple levels of analysis from the individual to the dyadic, the family, the organization, and society as a whole in explaining burnout.
    • The dynamic nature of burnout experiences within persons over time.
  • Critical reviews that provide comprehensive and integrative analyses of key themes. For example:
    • Cultural, national, or occupational differences in burnout.
    • Meta-analyses of major datasets.
  • Translational research studies that assess promising interventions for preventing burnout and building work engagement. For example:
    • Psychosocial resources to prevent burnout and promote positive personal outcomes.
    • Evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention strategies to ameliorate burnout at either the personal, social, and organizational levels.

Special issues of Burnout Research may be devoted to themes of particular interest Our first special issue focused on http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/22130586/1/2Burnout in health care (2014). We would be interested in such themes as burnout interventions, or global comparisons of burnout in different countries, or burnout in technology workplaces.

Keywords: burnout, job stress, work engagement, psychosocial factors, health outcomes, work behaviors, job performance, job satisfaction, job-person fit, organizational factors.

Carbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications

ISSN: 2666-8939

Carbohydrate Polymers

ISSN: 0144-8617eISSN: 1879-1344

Carbohydrate Polymers covers the study and exploitation of polymers of monosaccharides which have current or potential application in areas such as bioenergy, bioplastics, biomaterials, nanotechnology, biorefining, drug delivery, food, chemistry, packaging , paper, pharmaceuticals, medicine, oil recovery, textiles and wood. The role of the well-characterized carbohydrate polymer must be the major proportion of the work reported, not peripheral. At least one named carbohydrate polymer must be cited and be the main focus of the title of the paper, and of the paper itself. Research must be innovative and advance scientific knowledge. Where a polysaccharide is obtained from a supplier, essential structural information which will affect its behavior in the subsequent work should be given. For example, molecular size/viscosity information, mannuronate/glucoronate ration for alginates, degree of esterification for pectin, degree of deacetylation for chitosan. Editors are unlikely to send papers for formal review with a statement such as "sodium alginate was purchased from XXX Inc." unless additional information is supplied. To be acceptable, the paper must include some characterization of the polysaccharide (if not already known) in addition to the application studied. Purity and monosaccharide composition are essential; some molecular size and linkage information is highly desirable.Topics include:• structure and property relationships• analytical methods• chemical, enzymatic and physical modifications• biosynthesis• natural functions• interactions with other materialsExamples of papers which are not appropriate for Carbohydrate Polymers include:• papers which focus on biological, physiological and pharmacological aspects of non-carbohydrate molecules attached to, or mixed with, carbohydrate polymers.• papers on the materials science of biocomposites where there is no mention of any specific carbohydrate polymer, or the role of the carbohydrate polymer is not the major proportion of the study.• papers focusing on polyalkanoates, polylactic acid or lignin.• routine studies of extraction yields without characterisation of the extracted polysaccharide.• routine studies of complexation of a drug with a single cyclodextrin.• applications of new polysaccharides where the structure of the polysaccharide is unknown.• Papers on the production and isolation of enzymes which act on polysaccharides (studies on the mode of action of an enzyme on a polysaccharide are within the journal scope).• Papers where the degree of polymerization of the saccharide chain is less than four.

Case Studies on Transport Policy

ISSN: 2213-624XeISSN: 2213-6258

Transport policy is a multidisciplinary field where engineering, economics, sociology and law must come together in well-articulated and effective solutions. Despite being a field of effective intervention, most scientific publications address transport policy with a theoretical and often abstract approach, making its understanding difficult for non-senior academics and even more opaque for practitioners. While the merits of case study methods both for undergraduate and graduate teaching are recognised, academics struggle to find empirical material that provides objective and operational illustration of the theories and approaches lectured. This is a major barrier not only in the teaching context but also for practitioners.Case Studies on Transport Policy covers this gap by providing a repository of relevant material to support teaching and transferability of experiences. Observation of field experience highlighting the details and drawbacks of implementation is invaluable to show how Transport Policy can be applied in the operational field, maintaining consistency with strategic options. Teaching with case studies introduces students to challenges they may face in the real world, and provides a very rich learning method for executive training at every institutional level. For practitioners, and specially governments, case studies are a powerful tool to show the potential benefits from policy measures and packages.Case Studies on Transport Policy and its sister journal Transport Policy provide a valuable reference for the specialised study of transport policy offering in-depth theoretical analysis and detailed case study description and analysis, and in this way providing very complete material for decision makers planners and practitioners to undertake transferability of experiences.

Cement and Concrete Composites

ISSN: 0958-9465eISSN: 1873-393X

This journal is designed to reflect current developments and advances being made in the general field of cement-concrete composites technology and in the production, use, and performance of cement-basedconstruction materials. The word cement is interpreted in a wide sense, including not only Portland cement but also blended cements and other binding materials. In addition to novel aspects of conventional concrete materials, the journal covers a wide range of composite materials such as fiber-reinforced cement composites, polymer cement composites, polymer impregnated composites, ferrocement, and cement composites containing special aggregate inclusions or waste materials. Original papers dealing with microstructure (as it relates to engineering properties), material properties, testing and test methods, fracture mechanics, durability aspects, composite mechanics/technology, modelling, design, fabrication and practical applications of these materials form the major themes of the journal. Provided there is sufficient linkage to properties defined at the material scale, papers concerning the behavior of structural components and systems, in situ performance, and field studies will also be accepted for review, as well as those concerning the repair and maintenance, serviceability behavior, and sustainability of structures made with these materials. The journal has within the above context several specific objectives. It wants to foster a better understanding of construction materials, provide a forum for unusual and unconventional materials, encourage the development of low cost energy saving materials and bridge the gap between materials science, engineering performance, environmental effects, in situ behavior, design/service life and construction. It is the intention of the journal to also publish special issues devoted to topics of current or emerging interest. The journal aims to provide a unifying basis for collaboration between materials scientists, engineers, designers and fabricators.

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals aims to be a leading journal in the interdisciplinary field of Nonlinear Science, and Nonequilibrium and Complex Phenomena. It encourages the submission of articles on the following subjects in this field: dynamics; non-equilibrium processes in physics, chemistry and geophysics; complex matter and networks; mathematical models; computational biology; applications to quantum and mesoscopic phenomena; fluctuations and random processes; self-organization; social phenomena. The journal can only accept papers whose primary subject area lies within the above Aims & Scope. In particular, please take notice of the following:• Papers of a more applied or engineering nature can be considered when they are closely connected to one of the subjects of the journal and contribute to a better understanding of that subject.• In order to be acceptable, manuscripts on integrable systems should at least attempt a connection to physical insight or new qualitative features. The word “Solitons” should be understood as a label especially extended to all nonlinear integrable systems in complex natural phenomena. The paper should not bear on some explicit formulae, some standard solutions, constructions, or asymptotic methods.• The journal is interested in articles providing strong insights in the mathematical theory of fractals that play an important role either in understanding the general theory or are profound for an important particular application, especially in complex systems. Numerical computations should only assist the developed results. Also welcome are the discovery of new fractals that are crucial for important applications. The subject listing is specified further in the journal's classification list. Authors are required to specify matching classifications upon submission of their work.Note for authors:Plagiarism is unethical behaviour and is not tolerated at Chaos, Solitons & Fractals. Child Abuse and Neglect

ISSN: 0145-2134

Historically, child protection has been commonly perceived to be a matter of concern to professionals in specialized social service, health, mental health, and justice systems. However, Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal also welcomes contributors and readers interested in children's safety in the settings of everyday life - homes, day care centers, schools, playgrounds, youth clubs, health clinics, places of worship, and so forth. Child Abuse & Neglect also invites the engagement of other social scientists (e.g., anthropologists, economists, historians, planners, political scientists, and sociologists) and humanists (e.g., ethicists, legal scholars, political theorists, and theologians) whose studies may contribute to an understanding of (a) the evolution of concepts of - and strategies for - child protection and (b) the responsibilities of individual adults and the institutions of which they are a part to ensure children's safety and their humane care.Limited by neither geography, profession, nor setting, the readers of Child Abuse & Neglect have diverse education, experience, interests, and needs for information. Accordingly, the journal seeks the expression of authors' ideas and their empirical findings clearly and cogently, so that articles are accessible to a broad audience. The journal also expects authors to approach problems of child abuse and neglect with a level of care commensurate with the fundamental importance of children's rights to the protection of their personal security, the promotion of their sense of dignity, and the assurance of love and respect in the relationships most important to them.Toward those ends, Child Abuse & Neglect invites research and commentary on the following topics, among others:•the conditions that foster or threaten children's safety and sense of personal security in their homes and other settings of everyday life;•the conditions that enable or hinder parents', extended family members', other caregivers', and other community members' efforts to ensure children's personal security;•programs and practices to facilitate children's protection from harms or wrongs, their recovery from violations of their personal security, or both;•community, societal, and international systems to promote children's safety, enhance the quality of their care, and/or facilitate the mitigation of harms and wrongs that they may suffer;•children's, parents', and other caregivers' own experiences, attitudes, and beliefs in regard to all of these topics.Child Abuse & Neglect recognizes that child protection is a global concern and that the state of the art continues to evolve. Accordingly, the journal is intended to be useful to scholars, policymakers, concerned citizens, and professional practitioners in countries that are diverse in wealth, culture, and the nature of their formal child protection system. Thus Child Abuse & Neglect welcomes contributions grounded in the traditions of particular cultures and settings. However, international and cross-cultural studies and commentary are of special interest.

Cirugia y Cirujanos (English Edition)

During recent years, we have witnessed many technological advances in electronic publication. The Editors of Cirugía y Cirujanos, in an attempt to bridge the gap between "print publication" and "on-line publication", beginning with the No. 1 issue, 2015, will publish all manuscripts on-line, both in Spanish and in English on the Elsevier electronic platform (http://www.elsevier.es/circir). The accessibility and wide diffusion of on-line publication will provide the opportunity for our scientific colleagues, not only in Latin America, but throughout the world, to share the knowledge and skills of our Mexican surgical community, as well as to provide authors from other countries with a forum for participating in our Journal, in order that we may gain knowledge of surgical specialties throughout the world.

Manuscripts will be accepted in Spanish and in English, and will be translated to English or Spanish for on-line publication. Guidelines for manuscript submission will be published on-line at the Elsevier web page, where you will be able to access the journal (http://www.elsevier.es/circir). We are confident that this "evolution" in publication will serve the needs of the international community, as well as to provide our Mexican scientists with greater visibility throughout the global community. The Mexican Academy of Surgery is pleased to offer this on-line publication without fees or subscription. We look forward to the valuable input from our readers in an attempt to maintain the high standards of Cirugía y Cirujanos.

Cities

ISSN: 0264-2751eISSN: 1873-6084
Cities publishes articles on many aspects of urban planning and policy. It distinguishes itself by providing an international and interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of ideas and information among urban planners, policy makers and analysts, and urbanists from all disciplines.

The primary aims of the journal are to analyze and assess past and present urban development and management as a reflection of effective, ineffective and non-existent planning policies; and the promotion of the implementation of appropriate urban policies in both the developed and the developing world.

Topics covered include: urban adaptation to climate change; gentrification and housing; homelessness and welfare services; urban management; public-private sector cooperation; development and planning problems; urban regeneration; neighborhood conservation and urban design; immigration and international labor migration; urban politics; urban theory; urban governance; smart cities and regions; infrastructure; livability and quality of life; greening; and the complexities of creating sustainable cities.

Every year, we also publish a handful of Viewpoints. These are articles that are shorter in nature, summative in their literature review, and offer a particular argument that could potentially generate debates among scholars and practitioners.

Each volume also features one or more City Profiles. Coverage includes a brief description of the city's historical development, an account of contemporary conditions, problems or issues, and a critical review of recent or current policy, planning or management responses.

Full details of Cities' accepted manuscript types, topics, word limits and editorial policies, as well as topics we do not accept, can be found in the http://www.journals.elsevier.com/cities/policies-and-guidelines/cities-acceptance-policy-guidelines/Cities Acceptance Policy on the journal's website.

Climate Services

eISSN: 2405-8807
DOAJ Logo
The journal Climate Services brings science and practice together. It serves as a means of communication, dialogue and exchange forum between researchers and stakeholders.

Climate services develop and provide science-based and user-specific information relating to past, present and potential future climate. They help society cope with climate variability and change. Climate service users include economic, administrative, political and scientific bodies, within and across sectors and disciplines. Information about climate, climate change, and impacts on natural and human systems as well as mitigation and adaptation strategies is tailored to the specific user requirements.

The journal Climate Services is at the interface between climate research and application, specifically related to climate services. Climate services address all sectors affected by climate, at global, regional and local scale. They connect natural and socio-economic research with practice. Climate Services addresses both researchers in the field of climate service research, and stakeholders and practitioners interested in or already applying climate services. This is reflected in a new climate service article type, which contains a classical scientific part as well as a chapter with easily understandable practical implications for policy makers and practitioners.

The journal covers all topics related to climate services. It directly refers to how climate information can be applied in methodologies and tools for adaptation to climate change. It publishes best practice examples, case studies as well as theories, methods and data analysis with a link (or a potential link) to climate services. Please notice, the journal focuses solely on the use and usability of climate information for adaptation issues.

Topics of interest linking to climate services include:

  • Climate modelling
  • Climate impact modelling
  • Vulnerability and risk assessment
  • Development of adaptation and mitigation strategies
  • Use of climate services for adaptation
  • Prototypes for climate services
  • Sectoral and cross-sectoral case studies
  • Climate communication strategies
  • Climate adaptation governance and institutions
  • Economic Aspects of Adaptation to Climate Change
  • Barriers to climate change adaptation
  • Capacity building
  • Use of climate information in decision making
  • Transdisciplinary stakeholder dialogues
  • Evaluation of climate services
  • Climate service tools, concepts and infrastructures
  • Discussion of current practices (both regarding value creation and value protection - or risks and opportunities) and corresponding recommendations

Clinica Chimica Acta is a high quality journal which publishes original Research Communications in the field of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, defined as the diagnostic application of chemistry, biochemistry, immunochemistry, biochemical aspects of hematology, toxicology, and molecular biology to the study of human disease in body fluids and cells.

The objective of the journal is to publish novel information leading to a better understanding of biological mechanisms of human diseases, their prevention, diagnosis, and patient management. Reports of an applied clinical character are also welcome. Papers concerned with normal metabolic processes or with constituents of normal cells or body fluids, such as reports of experimental or clinical studies in animals, are only considered when they are clearly and directly relevant to human disease. Evaluation of commercial products have a low priority for publication, unless they are novel or represent a technological breakthrough. Studies dealing with effects of drugs and natural products and studies dealing with the redox status in various diseases are not within the journal's scope. Development and evaluation of novel analytical methodologies where applicable to diagnostic clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, including point-of-care testing, and topics on laboratory management and informatics will also be considered.
