Control Engineering Practice

ISSN: 0967-0661

Control Engineering Practice strives to meet the needs of industrial practitioners and industrially related academics and researchers. It publishes papers which illustrate the direct application of control theory and its supporting tools in all possible areas of automation. As a result, the journal only contains papers which can be considered to have made significant contributions to the application of control techniques. It is normally expected that practical results should be included, but where simulation only studies are available, it is necessary to demonstrate that the simulation model is representative of a genuine industrial application. Strictly theoretical papers will find a more appropriate home in Control Engineering Practice's sister publication, Automatica. Control Engineering Practice papers will tend to be shorter, and relevant to industrial readers. In addition to purely technical applications papers the journal carries papers on topics linked to the application of automation, including social effects, cultural aspects, project planning and system design, and economic and management issues. The scope of Control Engineering Practice matches the activities of IFAC:• Aerospace • Marine systems • Communication systems • Biomedical engineering • Pulp and paper processing • Environmental engineering • Scientific instrumentation • Transportation and vehicles • Power generation and other utilities • Mining, mineral and metal processing • Chemical and biotechnical process control • Manufacturing technology and production engineeringThe journal covers all applicable technologies:• Robotics • Identification • Signal processing • Project management • Autonomous vehicles • Powertrains • Computer networking • Modelling and simulation • Human-computer systems • Components and instruments • Adaptive and robust control • Electromechanical components • Model-based control techniques • Fault detection and diagnostics • Software engineering techniques • Hydraulic and pneumatic components • Real-time and distributed computing • Intelligent components and instruments • Architectures and algorithms for control • Computer-aided systems analysis and design • Software design, verification, safety, etc. • Artificial intelligence techniques, including fuzzy control neural networks and genetic algorithms. For more details on the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), visit their home page at http://www.ifac-control.org

Diamond and Related Materials

ISSN: 0925-9635eISSN: 1879-0062

DRM is a leading international journal that publishes new fundamental and applied research on all forms of diamond, the integration of diamond with other advanced materials and development of technologies exploiting diamond. The synthesis, characterization and processing of single crystal diamond, polycrystalline films, nanodiamond powders and heterostructures with other advanced materials are encouraged topics for technical and review articles. In addition to diamond, the journal publishes manuscripts on the synthesis, characterization and application of other related materials including diamond-like carbons, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and boron and carbon nitrides. Articles are sought on the chemical functionalization of diamond and related materials as well as their use in electrochemistry, energy storage and conversion, chemical and biological sensing, imaging, thermal management, photonic and quantum applications, electron emission and electronic devices. The Diamond Films Conference Series has evolved into the largest and most well attended European forum in the field of diamond, diamond-like materials, nitrides and silicon carbide. Run annually in association with Diamond & Related Materials the conference provides researchers and practitioners with an opportunity to exchange the latest results in their particular field and to review progress and problems in neighbouring fields.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Digital Signal Processing

ISSN: 1051-2004eISSN: 1095-4333

Digital Signal Processing: a Review Journal is one of the oldest and most established journals in the field of signal processing yet it aims to be the most innovative one. The journal invites top quality research articles at the frontiers of research in all aspects of signal processing. Our objective is to provide a platform for the publication of groundbreaking research in signal processing with both academic and industrial appeal. The journal has a special emphasis on statistical signal processing methodology such as Bayesian signal processing, and encourages articles on emerging areas in signal processing which do not find space in other journals of the field. These include:environmental signal processing, stochastic modelling of biological and chemical processes, seismic signal processing, financial time series analysis, stochastic calculus, geophysical signal processing, systems biology, chemioinformatics, signal processing for human-computer interaction and intelligent user interfaces, signal processing for audio, visual and performance arts, signal processing for disaster management and prevention, signal processing for renewable energy, game theory and group theory for signal processing, information theory articles with a signal processing perspective.Papers in the classical application areas of signal processing such as telecommunications, speech and image processing are welcome only if they contain novel research. Purely application oriented articles in these areas should be submitted to the relevant dedicated journals. Similarly, authors who would like to submit on areas of neural networks or fuzzy sets are invited to submit their work to the appropriate journals.Digital Signal Processing: a Review Journal also aims to publish at least one high quality review article in every issue and to provide focus issues with special emphasis on emerging topics. Discussion articles in which several leading researchers discuss the future of a specific research area are also welcome.

Discrete Event Dynamic Systems

ISSN: 0924-6703eISSN: 1573-7594

This journal publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed papers on the modeling and control of discrete event dynamical systems (DEDS). It presents general theories and methodologies of DEDSs and their applications as well as discusses practical problems from which some generally applicable DEDS theories or methodologies can be formulated. The scope of the journal is defined by its emphasis on the modeling of discrete events by dynamic systems, and on problems of their control and optimization. Discrete Event Dynamic Systems covers all aspects of DEDS, including: theory and formal models (supervisory control, Petri-Nets, Min-Max-plus algebra, DEDS specification, or simulation formalisms), performance analysis, optimization, and optimal control (perturbation analysis, control synthesis, sample-path-based approaches, AI-based learning schemes, scalable solutions to large and complex systems), and applications (case studies and software engineering).
