The purpose of Advances in Chronic Kidney Disease is to provide in-depth, scholarly review articles about the care and management of persons with early kidney disease and kidney failure, as well as those at risk for kidney disease. Emphasis is on articles related to the early identification of kidney disease; prevention or delay in progression of kidney disease; the multidisciplinary case management of patients with chronic kidney disease or kidney failure, organ effects of kidney disease; epidemiology and outcomes research in chronic kidney disease; benefits and complications of the primary treatment methods, dialysis and transplantation; technical aspects of the delivery of uremia therapy; care of the critically ill patient with kidney failure in the intensive care setting; new therapies for kidney failure; and health care research in chronic kidney disease. The full spectrum of basic science through clinical care is covered in these reviews. Clinical care issues stress the multidisciplinary team approach to the care of kidney patients. Topics covered will be of interest to practicing nephrologists (pediatric and adult), nephrology fellows (pediatric and adult), nurses, technicians, dietitians, and social workers caring for patients with kidney disease. The ''American Journal of Nephrology'' is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on timely topics in both basic science and clinical research. Papers are divided into several sections, including: original reports, spanning clinical, basic, and outcomes research; in-depth topic reviews on specific topics selected by the editor and associate editors; invited debates, selected on “hot topics” determined by the editorial board. Responding to the ever-increasing pace in research, the American Journal of Nephrology adheres to a very tight publication schedule: accepted papers appear online within 5–6 weeks of acceptance.

BMC Nephrology is an open access journal publishing original peer-reviewed research articles in all aspects of the prevention, diagnosis and management of kidney and associated disorders, as well as related molecular genetics, pathophysiology, and epidemiology.

Practical information on hemodialysis, hemofiltration, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis is featured in this journal. Recognizing the critical importance of equipment and procedures, particular emphasis has been placed on reports, drawn from a wide range of fields, describing technical advances and improvements in methodology. Papers reflect the search for cost-effective solutions which increase not only patient survival, but also patient comfort and disease improvement by prevention or correction of undesirable effects. Clinical and Experimental Nephrology is a peer-reviewed bimonthly journal, officially published by the Japanese Society of Nephrology (JSN) to create an international forum for the discussion of research and issues relating to the study of nephrology. The term 'nephrology' in the title was created and brought into use with the establishment of JSN (Japanese Journal of Nephrology, Vol. 2, No.1, 1960).
