Adoption Quarterly

ISSN: 1092-6755eISSN: 1544-452X

Adoption Quarterly is an unparalleled forum for examining the issues of child care, of adoption as viewed from a lifespan perspective, and of the psychological and social meanings of the word "family." This international, multidisciplinary journal features conceptual and empirical work, commentaries, and book reviews from the fields of the social sciences, humanities, biological sciences, law, and social policy. In addition to examining ethical, biological, financial, social and psychological adoption issues, Adoption Quarterly addresses continuity in adoption issues that are important to both practitioners and researchers, such as: negotiation of birth and adoptive family contact; identity formation in the context of adoption; adoption as a premier paradigm for studying the interactions of nature, nurture, and the lifelong development of the adoptee; adoptee adjustment (now viewed in a life-span perspective); adjustment issues for birth and adoptive parents. Despite the importance of adoption in family formation and its considerable value as a paradigm for scientific study, there is no other scholarly journal specializing in this field. By maintaining a consistently high standard of scholarship, Adoption Quarterly helps stimulate relevant research and develop more practice-based and empirically sound principles. Canadian Journal of African Studies

ISSN: 0008-3968eISSN: 1923-3051

The Canadian Journal of African Studies ( CJAS / RCEA) is the official publication of the Canadian Association of African Studies (CAAS); launched in 1967, it is a bilingual multidisciplinary journal committed to facilitating the dissemination of social science research by Africanists world-wide.  It is one of only two international journals in African studies which has consistently published in both English and French.

CJAS aims to improve knowledge and awareness of Africa as well as the problems and aspirations of its people, to inform Canadian policy on and in Africa, and to generate public interest in the study and understanding of Africa in Canada.

CJAS publishes articles in the areas of anthropology/ethnography, political science, history, sociology, literature, human geography, and development. We encourage an inter/multi-disciplinary approach. The journal does not consider papers in quantitative development or economics, or papers on education, social work, public policy analysis or literary criticism. In addition to original research papers, the journal publishes Commentaries that cover current issues. Sometimes the journal includes Research Notes which permit contributors to present research in progress on African topics. The book review and review essay section provide critiques of recent books and reports on Africa in general and on individual countries.

Peer Review Statement

CJAS is a peer reviewed journal. Articles submitted to the journal are sent out to three independent reviewers who are familiar with the field and topic of an article. They are asked to review an article based on the following criteria: originality of research and analysis, review of the literature, the nature of the contribution to the field, whether the arguments made are convincing and the quality of writing.

Chinese Journal of Population Resources and Environment

ISSN: 1004-2857eISSN: 2325-4262

Chinese Journal of Population, Resources and Environment (CJPRE) is an international journal that publishes original research in the fields of economic, population, resource and environment studies as they pertain to sustainable development. More specifically, CJPRE aims to address and evaluate the field’s theoretical frameworks, capability building initiatives, strategic goals, ethical values, empirical research, methodologies and techniques.

Since the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, the field of sustainable development has developed rapidly. Although it remains an emerging field of research, it has proven influential and continues to provide new angles for understanding how current events may impact society.

While CJPRE originally focused on assessing Chinese advances in the field of sustainable development, the journal now looks toward sharing global developments from both developed and developing countries.

The journal welcomes manuscripts on:
  • sustainable development (economy, demography, strategy and policy, agriculture and industry, ecosystem management biodiversity),
  • natural resources (water, oceans and fisheries, atmosphere, forests),
  • energy (renewable consumption markets, efficiency), and
  • health (poverty eradication, water and sanitation, production, technology).
Peer review policy
All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.
