Journal of Philosophical Logic
The Journal of Philosophical Logic aims to provide a forum for work at the crossroads of philosophy and logic, old and new, with contributions ranging from conceptual to technical.
Accordingly, the Journal invites papers in all of the traditional areas of philosophical logic, including but not limited to: various versions of modal, temporal, epistemic, and deontic logic: constructive logics: relevance and other sub-classical logics: many-valued logics: logics of conditionals: quantum logic: decision theory, inductive logic, logics of belief change, and formal epistemology: defeasible and nonmonotonic logics: formal philosophy of language: vagueness: and theories of truth and validity.
In addition to publishing papers on philosophical logic in this familiar sense of the term, the Journal also invites papers on extensions of logic to new areas of application, and on the philosophical issues to which these give rise. The Journal places a special emphasis on the applications of philosophical logic in other disciplines, not only in mathematics and the natural sciences but also, for example, in computer science, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, linguistics, jurisprudence, and the social sciences, such as economics, sociology, and political science.
Manuscript submissions to the JPL have grown rapidly over the past few years, putting tremendous pressure on the editors, the editorial board, and external referees.
In order to give JPL an opportunity to reorganize the editorial process to handle the increased volume, we have decided to suspend new submission between May 1 and October 1, 2013. The JPL will continue with the current process for manuscripts that are currently under review. In addition, if your paper has been 'conditionally accepted,' then please feel free to resubmit it in the usual way. However,, if your paper has been given a verdict of 'revise and resubmit,' we ask that you not resubmit it until after October 1.We very much regret the difficulty caused by this decison to all authors of potential JPL articles, and hope that you will consider sending us your manuscripts again after October 1. The Lancet Planetary Health is a monthly, open access, online-only title in The Lancet's growing family of specialty journals. Building on the foundation of The Rockefeller Foundation-Lancet Commission on planetary health, the journal is committed to publishing high-quality original Research Articles, Editorials, Comments, and Correspondence that contribute to defining and advancing planetary health worldwide.
Planetary health has been defined as the health of the human civilisation and the state of the natural systems on which it depends.
To explain this idea in simple terms we need to think of humanity as one of the key driving forces of global environmental change. We live on a planet that is shaped by the activity of human beings. We have benefited from the exploitation of the natural resources of the environment, and this has allowed us to develop, flourish, and to improve our health. But, we have now gone beyond a sustainable limit. The planet we live in is in grave danger. Species are under pressure. The environmental changes to the climate, the water, the land, and ecosystems are challenging life on the Earth with serious implications for our health and wellbeing. The way we think about the planet needs to be revised and with it the approach we take to interact with it.
It is against this backdrop that we welcome The Lancet Planetary Health. In keeping with our other journals, The Lancet Planetary Health will offer rapid publication of research online within 8-12 weeks from submission. We invite all original research submissions that have the potential to change or challenge the interplay between the environment and human health. We take a broad and inclusive approach to planetary health, and we especially wish to emphasise our interest in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.
Submissions are subjected to The Lancet's usual rigorous standards of external and statistical peer review, and are edited by experienced copy editors to the highest standards. All original research remains the property of the author, and reuse by others is permitted under either CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND Creative Commons licences, depending on authors' preferences or funding bodies' mandates.

Current Medicine Research and Practice
The journal accepts original articles on clinical/laboratory research in the field of medicine, and review articles on topics of current interest. In addition, the journal features articles of educational value to postgraduate students such as "Research Methods" and "Technology Updates". CMRP aims at publishing articles with a special focus on health in developing countries, which highlight the common problems of the region and their possible solutions. Our aim is to stimulate high quality medical research and support evidence based medical practice in India and its neighboring countries. In the recent past we have published articles on Corruption in Indian Medicine which was extensively covered and discussed in both the national and international media. We also carried a retrospective 18 year survey on Burns in the Jammu region which highlighted the fact that women were overwhelmingly more affected than men and nearly three quarters of those admitted to hospital died.
The journal has a special section for postgraduate students where articles on recent CMEs along with special images are published.
The Editorial and Advisory Boards are composed of eminent doctors from India and abroad who have agreed to actively support the journals aims and objectives. Contributions are welcome from anywhere in the world.

Hydrological Processes
Hydrological Processes is an international journal devoted to the publication of original scientific and technical papers in hydrology. The objective of these communications is to improve our understanding of hydrological processes. The scope of the journal encompasses disciplines focussing on the physical, biogeochemical, mathematical and methodological aspects of hydrological processes together with research on instrumentation and techniques. The journal also publishes several issues annually, which relate to themes emergent from conferences, hydrological science societies and key research topics identified by editorial board members. Comments on previously published papers may be submitted to HP. The authors of the original work will be given the opportunity to submit a reply for simultaneous publication with the Comment. The Journal of Orthopaedic Translation (JOT) is the official peer-reviewed publication of the Chinese Speaking Orthopaedic Society (CSOS) and the International Chinese Musculoskeletal Research Society (ICMRS). The Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials is concerned with the mechanical deformation, damage and failure under applied forces, of biological material (at the tissue, cellular and molecular levels) and of biomaterials, i.e. those materials which are designed to mimic or replace biological materials.The primary focus of the journal is the synthesis of materials science, biology, and medical and dental science. Reports of fundamental scientific investigations are welcome, as are articles concerned with the practical application of materials in medical devices. Both experimental and theoretical work is of interest; theoretical papers will normally include comparison of predictions with experimental data, though we recognize that this may not always be appropriate. Life Sciences is an international journal publishing articles that emphasize the molecular, cellular, and functional basis of therapy. The journal emphasizes the understanding of mechanism that is relevant to all aspects of human disease and translation to patients. All articles are rigorously reviewed.The Journal favors publication of full-length papers where modern scientific technologies are used to explain molecular, cellular and physiological mechanisms. Articles that merely report observations are rarely accepted. Recommendations from the Declaration of Helsinki or NIH guidelines for care and use of laboratory animals must be adhered to. Articles should be written at a level accessible to readers who are non-specialists in the topic of the article themselves, but who are interested in the research. The Journal welcomes mini-reviews on topics of wide interest to investigators in the life sciences. We particularly encourage submission of brief, focused reviews containing high-quality artwork and require the use of mechanistic summary diagrams.Manuscripts should present novel preclinical findings addressing questions of biological significance to human disease. Studies that fail to do so may be rejected without review. Quantitative conclusions must be based on truly quantitative methods. Life Sciences does not publish work on the actions of biological extracts of unknown chemical composition. Compounds studied must be of known chemical structure and concentration. The study must be reproducible; materials used must be available to other researchers so they can repeat the experiment. Clinical studies may be considered if they expand understanding of mechanism, but the journal does not encourage clinical trial reports.Four common reasons for rejection include: out of scope (the manuscript does not conform to the goal of identification of mechanisms related to therapy for human disease); too preliminary (manuscript is based on a limited amount of experimental data diminishing significance); lack of novelty (manuscript is well done but does not address a significant question); unidentified structure (actions of biological extracts of unknown chemical composition).

Palynology is an international journal, and covers all aspects of the science. We accept papers on both pre-Quaternary and Quaternary palynology and palaeobotany. Fresh pollen from anthers were processed using acetolysis 2. infiltrated with 2,2'-thiodiethanol (TDE), a mounting medium for high-resolution microscopy 3. A 3-D image stack was acquired using an Olympus FV1000 laser scanning confocal microscope with a 100x/1.4 oil immersion objective (Excitation 488 nm, emission 500-600nm) 4. Imported the entire confocal stack into Osiri X 3D medical imaging software running on an iMac with 4GB of RAM. 5. Selected every fifth slice in the stack for rendering, in order to fit the stacks into the 4GB memory limit addressable by a 32-bit operating system 6. Perform 3D rendering using a color map optimized for bones and soft tissue 7.
