Journal Guide

The Australasian Journal of Engineering Education (AJEE) is published under the auspices of the Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AaeE), a technical society of Engineers Australia. The journal is offered as a means of exchanging current work and ideas, predominately from Australian engineering education faculties and as a resource for Continuing Professional Development for our community. The journal is open to members and non-members of Engineers Australia.

It is the policy of the AJEE to publish a variety of contributions on the scholarship and practice of engineering education. Major fields of interest include

• teaching and learning styles, methods, practices and philosophies in engineering
• assessment
• ethics
• inclusivity
• sustainability
• student issues
• online and laboratory learning
• professional practice.

We are also endeavouring to produce special themed sets of papers each year. The editors and editorial panel would be pleased to accept suggestions for these themes.

Publication categories:

AJEE aims to publish reviewed technical papers on all aspects of engineering education. Papers that are submitted follow an autonomous peer review process, with two independent reviewers as required by the DEST review guidelines. The following paper categories are accepted for review:

• Research paper – a paper making an original contribution to engineering education knowledge.
• Special interest paper/project report – report on significant aspects of a major or notable project.
• Review paper for specialists – an overview of a relevant area intended for specialists in the field covered.
• Review paper for non-specialists – an overview of a relevant area suitable for a reader with a relevant engineering education background.

The following submission categories are accepted on the editor's discretion:

• Tutorial paper – a paper which explains an important subject or clarifies the approach to an area of design or investigation.
• Technical note – a technical note or a letter to the editor, which is not sufficiently developed or extensive in scope to constitute a full paper.
• The expected length of acceptable contributions will vary considerably, but 5000 to 6000 words or equivalent for papers would be the norm. Technical notes should not exceed 1500 words.

The Journal of Marketing Channels is the first and only professional marketing journal to focus exclusively on distribution systems, strategy, and management. The journal recognizes the growing importance of distribution as a key strategic variable in marketing management. Indeed, if one looks realistically at the major strategy variables of the marketing mix--product, price, promotion, and distribution--the greatest potential for achieving a competitive advantage now lies in distribution. The reason? Rapid technology transfer has made product advantages increasingly difficult to maintain. Leading authorities from around the world present the most up-to-date and in-depth thought, analysis, and research on these topics in this refereed international quarterly journal.Peer Review PolicyThe review procedure for selecting manuscripts for publication in the Journal of Marketing Channels requires that no manuscript be accepted until after it has been reviewed by the editor and at least two members of the editorial review board (or ad hoc reviewers when appropriate). The editorial review board is comprised primarily of academics who are experts in marketing channels and distribution issues, as well as several practitioners in the field. Formal written comments from assigned reviewers are provided in support of editorial decisions. Such reviews will use a double-blind review process. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript for publication, however, rests solely with the editor. Drugs & Therapy Perspectives provides concise, authoritative review articles to aid drug formulary and prescribing decisions. European Eating Disorders Review publishes authoritative and accessible articles, from all over the world, which review or report original research that has implications for the treatment and care of people with eating disorders, and articles which report innovations and experience in the clinical management of eating disorders. The journal focuses on implications for best practice in diagnosis and treatment, (rather than on research methodology). The journal also provides a forum for discussion of the causes and prevention of eating disorders, and related health policy. Aims and Scope: Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology welcomes scholarly manuscripts concerning peace, conflict, and their interaction at all levels of analysis, from interpersonal to community, regional, and international issues. The journal publishes empirical, theoretical, clinical, historical work, and book reviews on enduring and emerging issues that speak to the interests of researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and educators. Published semi-annually since 1970 by the C. G. Evidence-Based Practice in Child and Adolescent Mental Health is an official journal of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (Division 53), American Psychological Association. The journals seeks to:

(a) Describe the breadth, expertise, and diversity of the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology;

(b) Provide a source of explicating the findings and methods from scientific studies in applied and diverse settings;

(c) Advocate and illuminate the unique and expert knowledge, skill, and experience of clinical child and adolescent psychologists;

(d) Provide a resource for the sharing of ideas, activities, outcomes, and applications of the applied skills and experiences clinical child and adolescent psychologists.

German Economic Review (GER) publishes original research of general interest in a broad range of economic discplines, including macro- and microeconomics, public economics, business administration and finance. Authors are invited to submit papers devoted to policy analysis as well as theoretical and empirical papers. All submissions are refereed. The journal's internationally composed board of editors is committed to maintaining a high standard of quality. As the official journal of the Verein fur Socialpolitik (German Economic Association), German Economic Review is provided to all the members of the association. At the same time, the journal aims at a wider international audience and invites participation and subscriptions from economists around the world. GER is published four times a year, in English, and is available online.

HIV & AIDS Review is the official journal of the Polish AIDS Research Society (PTN AIDS). It is published quarterly. HIV & AIDS Review publishes several types of paper: original papers, preliminary communications, epidemiology - population studies, psychological and socio-medical aspects of HIV/AIDS, educational aspects, patient-physician relationship, conference or workshop summaries, product investigations - scientific evaluations on medical and pharmaceutical products, case reports, letters to the Editor, reviews and special reports. The Canadian Journal of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education is the first academic journal in this field published in Canada. This exciting new journal has generated great enthusiasm among Canadian scholars and is considered a long overdue developement in the field. The journal is an international forum for the publication of original articles written in a variety of styles, including research investigations using experimental, qualitative, ethnographic, historical, philosophical, or case study approaches; critical reviews of the literature; policy perspectives; and position papers, curriculum arguments, and discussion of issues in teacher education. Peer Review Policy: All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous review by three referees.

Opto-Electronics Review is an international journal for the publication of scientific papers concerning optoelectronics materials, systems and signal processing in a broad scope of non-telecommunications optoelectronics. Established in Warsaw in 1992, Opto-Electronics Review is published quarterly as a journal of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP) in cooperation with the Military University of Technology. The Editorial Office collaborates with leading local societies of distinguished scientists and researchers working in the optoelectronic field. Among its editors are scientists from all over the world. The journal’s main goal is promotion of papers presented by European scientific teams, especially those submitted by important teams from Central and Eastern Europe. However, contributions from other parts of the world are by no means excluded.
