His article was printed in the first issue of 2010. Over the last twenty years, the reshaping of the world politics and the development of innovative military technologies has placed a huge question mark beside the efficacy of force in contemporary statecraft. Consequently, the field of strategic studies has never been of greater significance than it is today. Since the appearance of the first issue in 1978, The Journal of Strategic Studies has taken a lead in promoting fresh thinking in the field among practitioners and academics alike. The defining feature of The Journal of Strategic Studies is its commitment to multi-disciplinary approach. The editors welcome articles that challenge our historical understanding of man's efforts to achieve political ends through the application of military and diplomatic means; articles on contemporary security and theoretical controversies of enduring value; and of course articles that explicitly combine the historical and theoretical approaches to the study of modern warfare, defence policy and modern strategy. In addition to a well-established review section, The Journal of Strategic Studies offers its diverse readership a wide range of 'special issues' and 'special sections'. Recent editions have focused on the disarmament of Germany in the inter-war years, the rise of China and counter-insurgency warfare.Award - Annual Amos Perlmutter PrizePeer ReviewAll articles in The Journal of Strategic Studies have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and review by one or more anonymous referees. Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry

ISSN: 0885-4513eISSN: 1470-8744

Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry has been published continuously since its creation in 1986 (previous to that date it was called the Journal of Applied Biochemistry and was published from 1979 to 1985). Today it enjoys a superb track record, attracting distinguished authors from academia and industry from all over the world, reflecting its international status. Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry is now published bi-monthly by Wiley-Blackwell, confirming the journal's dedication to change and commitment to rapid publication of high-quality, cutting-edge research at the interface between life sciences and their translation. It publishes new concepts in technology/methodology of relevance to the biological, biomedical, agricultural and environmental sciences. Promising advances in life sciences are leading to the identification of the molecular sources of disease and the creation of new generation of medicines for diseases for which there are currently either no therapies or inadequate treatments. Therapeutic proteins and antibodies are already having a significant impact in treatment of disease. Therapeutic genes and viruses promise to have an even bigger impact on human healthcare. DNA vaccine and gene-therapy are under intense development and new research areas such as tissue engineering, stem-cell therapeutics, germ-line therapy and regenerative medicines are expected to create a new wave of medicines that will make today's treatment of diseases look distinctively primitive. All this provides major challenges to life scientists and engineers engaged in discoveries and their translation to practical outcomes. Turning a new discovery into a successful application has become a highly integrated, multidisciplinary activity, and Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry is uniquely placed to provide an international forum for the dissemination of information and discussion by researchers working across the many subject groups. The journal welcomes submissions of original articles on the following topics: nucleic acids and proteins engineering and purification; genes peptides and proteins therapy; biomaterials; biological modeling; stem cells and tissue engineering; bio-imaging; bio-sensors; biotechnology of food and natural compounds. Original papers and reviews as well as special issues can be also invited by the Editorial Board. Papers are easily submitted online at: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bab.

Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies

ISSN: 0007-4918eISSN: 1472-7234

The Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Indonesia Project at The Australian National University's College of Asia and the Pacific, fills a significant void by providing a well respected outlet for high-quality research on any and all matters pertaining to the Indonesian economy, and touching on closely related fields such as law, the environment, government and politics, demography, education and health. In doing so, it has played an important role in helping the world, and Indonesians themselves, to understand Indonesia. In addition to the usual papers reporting economic analysis and research, each issue leads with a comprehensive 'Survey of recent developments', which aims to be reasonably accessible even to non-economists, and helps to account for the journal's diverse readership within academia, government, business and the broader public. All issues also contain a number of reviews of books on Indonesian economics and related issues. Published with financial support from the Australian Agency for International Development and the Arndt-Corden Division of Economics, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Neither the Agency nor the Economics Division takes responsibility for the views expressed by authors in this journal. The Bulletin is published in Indonesia by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Jakarta . The journal is published three times a year, in April, August and December. These three issues constitute one volume. A volume index of articles and book reviews by author is published in the last issue of each volume. Peer Review Statement All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, consisting of initial screening by the editor and double-blind refereeing by at least two reviewers. All Surveys of Recent Developments in this journal are specially commissioned papers that have undergone rigorous peer review, consisting of assessment by, and incorporation of comments from, the editor and academic staff of the Indonesia Project at The Australian National University and their colleagues. Ethnopolitics

ISSN: 1744-9057eISSN: 1744-9065

Ethnopolitics is an authoritative peer-reviewed journal which provides a forum for serious debate and exchange on one of the phenomena that had a decisive impact during the last decades of the 20th century and continues to be of great importance in the new millennium. The journal gives a voice to established as well as younger researchers and analysts from academic as well as practitioner backgrounds. We publish original articles of the highest quality in the field of ethnopolitics: our section 'Briefings and Analysis' in particular offers such articles with a specific focus on current events and developments. The 'Symposium' section provides a forum for engagement and discussion on issues that are of fundamental importance for theoretical and policy debates in our areas of interest. Ethnopolitics maintains a fair balance between theoretical analyses and case studies both of comparative as well as singular nature, covering all geographic areas. The major focus is on the analysis, management, settlement, and prevention of ethnic conflicts, on minority rights, group identity, the intersection of identity group formations and politics, on minority and majority nationalisms in the context of transitions to democracy, and on the security and stability of states and regions as they are affected by any of the above issues. Particular attention is also devoted to the growing importance of the international dimension of ethnopolitics, including diplomatic and military interventions, and the increasing impact of globalisation on ethnic identities and their political expressions.Ethnopolitics is a journal of the Specialist Group on Ethnopolitics and the Association for the Study of Nationalities. A particular feature of Ethnopolitics is the publication of special issues. Focusing on one specific topic and examining it in a comprehensive manner, special issues of Ethnopolitics are edited by scholars and practitioners with particular expertise in the subject matter. Contributions, which are normally invited by the editors, undergo the same rigorous review procedures as articles published in 'regular' issues of the journal. Special issues will be published in parallel also as free-standing books, thus increasing the audience beyond individual and institutional subscribers to Ethnopolitics.Peer ReviewAll research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees. Disclaimer The Editors of Ethnopolitics and Taylor & Francis make every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 8220;Content8221;) contained in its publications. Forest Ecology and Management

ISSN: 0378-1127eISSN: 1872-7042

Forest Ecology and Management publishes scientific articles that link forest ecology with forest management, and that apply biological and ecological knowledge to the management and conservation of man-made and natural forests. The scope of the journal includes all forest ecosystems of the world.A refereeing process ensures the quality and international interest of the manuscripts accepted for publication. The journal aims to encourage communication between scientists in disparate fields who share a common interest in ecology and forest management, and to bridge the gap between research workers and forest managers in the field to the benefit of both. The editors encourage submission of papers that will have the strongest interest and value to the Journal's international readership. Some key features of papers with strong interest include:1. Clear connections between the ecology and management of forests;2. Novel ideas or approaches to important challenges in forest ecology and management;3. Studies that address a population of interest beyond the scale of single research sites (see the editorial, Three key points in the design of forest experiments, Forest Ecology and Management 255 (2008) 2022-2023);4. Review Articles on timely, important topics. Authors are encouraged to contact one of the editors to discuss the potential suitability of a review manuscript. We now receive many more submissions than we can publish. Many papers are rejected because they do not fit within the aims and scope detailed above. Some examples include:1. Papers in which the primary focus is, for example, entomology or pathology or soil science or remote sensing, but where the links to, and implications for, forest management are not clear and have not been strongly developed; 2. Model-based investigations that do not include a substantial field-based validation component;3. Local or regional studies of diversity aimed at the development of conservation policies;4. The effects of forestry practices that do not include a strong ecological component (for example, the effects of weed control or fertilizer application on yield);5. Social or economic or policy studies (please consider our sister journal, 'Forest Policy and Economics').LIST OF REVIEWERS 2011Please bookmark this page as: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/forecoFor more information/suggestions/comments please contact AuthorSupport@elsevier.com
