Ethics and Society

Launched in 2007, ‘NanoEthics: Studies of New and Emerging Technologies’ is an innovative journal of science and technology studies (STS) focusing on technologies converging at the nanoscale and other new and emerging technologies. It has published important contributions to discussions on a wide range of ethical, legal, social, political and cultural aspects of areas such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, neurotechnology and information and communication technology.
The journal has played a key role in ethical and STS discourse on nanoscience and nanotechnology, responsible research and innovation (RRI), synthetic biology, human enhancement / animal enhancement and other topics. At the same time, NanoEthics is an important forum for the exploration of and interactions between art, science and technology. It aims to promote global discourse on the future of humanity in the age of technoscience. With the new Collection “Life Sciences, Society and Policy”, which inherits and continues the journal of the same name (LSSP), our journal is also in a position to become even more relevant for philosophical and STS discussions on biotechnologies and the life sciences.
While the focus of the journal is on ethical aspects, NanoEthics invites contributions on a variety of other philosophical issues as well as contributions from a wide range of fields in the social sciences, humanities and arts, as long as the contributions are relevant to ethically understanding and changing the relationships between new and emerging technologies, science and societies.

The most important function of a sport sociological journal like the European Journal for Sport and Society (EJSS) is to enable an international discussion about current issues and to foster collaboration between researchers from all social scientific sub-disciplines.

The EJSS is therefore a platform for multi-thematic sociological reflections on a broad variety of themes, theoretical approaches and empirical methods in sport sociological research. The EJSS is open for articles about sport, physical education, recreation, the social body and movement cultures. In addition to sociological approaches, historical, socio-psychological, political and economic perspectives are appreciated as well.

Peer Review Policy

The European Journal for Sport and Society is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research contributions to social scientific knowledge from across the world. The EJSS contains various forms of contribution: articles (7,000-10,000 words), reports (2,000-3,000 words), study reports (up to 6,000 words), conference reports (up to 2,000 words) and book reviews (up to 2,000 words).

Journal of Development Effectiveness aims to support evidence-based policy making to enhance development effectiveness. It will do this by publishing high quality papers reporting evidence of the impact of projects, programs and policies in developing countries, and discussions of experience in conducting impact evaluations and using their findings to inform policy and program design. Systematic reviews and replication studies are particularly encouraged. The Journal does not subscribe to any one approach to impact evaluation, but requires that the techniques employed be rigorously applied, with a preference for studies which have been well contextualized with an appropriate use of mixed methods. The Journal will also publish papers of a more conceptual nature related to impact evaluation, as well as papers covering practical aspects of conducting impact studies.
