Journal Guide

The Journal of Behavioral Decision Making is a multidisciplinary journal with a broad base of content and style. It publishes original empirical reports, critical review papers, theoretical analyses and methodological contributions. The Journal also features book, software and decision aiding technique reviews, abstracts of important articles published elsewhere and teaching suggestions. The objective of the Journal is to present and stimulate behavioral research on decision making and to provide a forum for the evaluation of complementary, contrasting and conflicting perspectives. These perspectives include psychology, management science, sociology, political science and economics. Studies of behavioral decision making in naturalistic and applied settings are encouraged. Articles on specialist topics aim for wider readability by including fully referenced introductions on the background to a particular study and, where possible, discuss the broader implications of the work. The Journal especially welcomes manuscripts that deal with issues that have cross-disciplinary impact. Such manuscripts will be considered for publication together with a selection of commentaries from members of the editorial board. Reviews are 'collaborationist' in the sense that reviewers are asked to do more than point out flaws and will suggest design improvements, new ideas, relevant references and follow-up studies. Reviewers are offered the opportunity to publish commentaries alongside the article. The Journal of Textile Design Research and Practice aims to create a forum to facilitate, stimulate and disseminate research in the domain of textile design and practice. 

Encompassing a range of approaches, disciplines and outcomes, the journal publishes submissions from the following areas: research through textile designing and making; research informed by textiles; and research for textile design education - encompassing pedagogic studies into the development of textile designers, practitioners and researchers.

Within these areas, the journal is interested in the following: interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approaches and the role of collaboration; relationships between traditional and contemporary practices; the application of new and traditional technologies and materials from both technical and aesthetic perspectives; sustainable textile practices, interfaces between research and industry; pedagogy for the education and continuing professional development of textile designers and practitioners; new research methods in the field with illustrative case studies; and the textile design process including the role of drawing and the significance of craft.

Submissions

The Journal of Textile Design Research and Practice invites submissions in the following categories:

• academic research papers (approximately 5,000 – 8,000) words;
• practitioner interviews or studies (approximately 6,000) words;
• position papers and reports of research currently in progress (approximately 3,000 words);
• book and exhibition reviews (approximately 500 – 2,000 words).

In the first instance, please send abstracts (200 – 300 words) to Dr Faith Kane ( f.e.kane2@lboro.ac.uk).  If your proposal fits within the scope of the journal, you will be invited to submit a full article which will be double blind peer reviewed.

The journal also welcomes proposals from Guest Editors for themed special issues.

Anthropology Southern Africa is the peer-reviewed journal of the Anthropology Southern Africa association. Formerly the Journal of South African Ethnology (1994-2001), the journal changed name and focus in 2002. The journal aims to promote anthropology in Southern Africa, to support ethnographic and theoretical research, and to provide voices to public debates. Anthropology Southern Africa is committed to contemporary perspectives in social and cultural anthropology and in relevant interdisciplinary scholarship. It looks at the current conditions in Southern African, African, and Global societies,   taking into consideration varied challenges such as the politics of difference, or poverty and dignity. We have recently published on topics, which include, among others, cities and urbanism, new religious movements, popular culture, social media, neoliberalism, nationalism, racism, social memory, protests and social movements, health and illness, or human rights. The journal publishes work on and from Southern Africa including Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We occasionally publish material on and from other countries, where this is deemed relevant for Southern African perspectives.

Anthropology Southern Africa is firmly based within the region while also reaching out and attracting work by a range of regional and international scholars, who are committed to Southern African scholarship. The journal publishes peer-reviewed research articles, book reviews, commentary, and other material relevant to engaged scholarly discourse within and outside Anthropology. The journal is listed in the Thomson Reuters Social Science Citation Index. 

Asia-Pacific Psychiatry is an international psychiatric journal focused on the Asia and Pacific Rim region, and is the official journal of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrics. Asia-Pacific Psychiatry enables psychiatric and other mental health professionals in the region to share their research, education programs and clinical experience with a larger international readership. The journal offers a venue for high quality research for and from the region in the face of minimal international publication availability for authors concerned with the region. This includes findings highlighting the diversity in psychiatric behaviour, treatment and outcome related to social, ethnic, cultural and economic differences of the region. Journal of Mathematics in Industry is a peer-reviewed open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen. The Journal of Abnormal Psychology® publishes articles on basic research and theory in the broad field of abnormal behavior, its determinants, and its correlates. The following general topics fall within its area of major focus: psychopathology—its etiology, development, symptomatology, and course; normal processes in abnormal individuals; pathological or atypical features of the behavior of normal persons; experimental studies, with human or animal subjects, relating to disordered emotional behavior or pathology; sociocultural effects on pathological processes, including the influence of gender and ethnicity; and tests of hypotheses from psychological theories that relate to abnormal behavior. Theoretical papers of scholarly substance on abnormality may be appropriate if they advance understanding of a specific issue directly relevant to abnormal psychology and fall within the length restrictions of a regular (not extended) article. The priority is empirical papers. Each article should represent an addition to knowledge and understanding of abnormal behavior in its etiology, description, or change. In order to improve the use of journal resources, it has been agreed that the Journal of Abnormal Psychology will not consider articles dealing with the diagnosis or treatment of abnormal behavior, and the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology will not consider articles dealing with the etiology or descriptive pathology of abnormal behavior. Therefore, a study that focuses primarily on treatment efficacy should be submitted to the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. However, a longitudinal study focusing on developmental influences or origins of abnormal behavior should be submitted to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology.
