The Roeper Review is an international, quarterly, refereed journal publishing scholarly articles that pertain to practice, policy, applied research, and theory in all dimensions of gifted education. Articles are thought provoking and often interdisciplinary. The Roeper Review aims to enhance the development of gifted individuals and the improvement of the world through more attention to giftedness, talent development, and creativity guided by ethical awareness. Diverse topics include: theories and philosophical analyses pertinent to giftedness, talent, and creativity; gender issues; curriculum studies; instructional strategies; educational psychology; elementary/early childhood/secondary education of the gifted; emotional, motivation, and affective dimensions of gifted individuals; differentiating instruction; teacher education; tests, measurement, and evaluation; and program development.Special FeaturesSpecial Issues. Science of the Total Environment

Science of the Total Environment is an international journal for publication of original research on the total environment, which includes the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and anthroposphere.The total environment is characterized where these five spheres overlap. Studies that focus on at least two or three of these will be given primary consideration. Papers reporting results from only one sphere will not be considered. Field studies are given priority over laboratory studies. The total environment is studied when data are collected and described from these five spheres. By definition total environment studies must be multidisciplinary.Examples of data from the five spheres are given below:Subject areas may include, but are not limited to:• Agriculture, forestry, land use and management• Air pollution quality and human health• Contaminant (bio)monitoring and assessment• Ecosystem services and life cycle assessments• Ecotoxicology and risk assessment• Emerging fields including global change and contaminants• Environmental management and policy• Environmental remediation• Environmental sources, processes and global cycling• Groundwater hydrogeochemistry and modeling• Human health risk assessment and management• Nanomaterials in the environment• Noise in the environment• Persistent organic pollutants• Plant science and toxicology• Remote sensing• Stress ecology in marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems• Trace metals and organics in biogeochemical cycles• Waste and water treatmentThe editors discourage submission of papers which describe results from routine surveys or monitoring programs, studies which are local in scope, laboratory experiments, hydroponic or pot studies measuring biochemical/physiological endpoints, food science studies, screening of new plant species for phytoremediation, testing known chemicals in another setting, and experimental studies lacking a testable hypothesis.The abstract, highlights and conclusions of papers in this journal must contain clear and concise statements as to why the study was done and how readers will benefit from the results. Articles submitted for publication in Science of the Total Environment should establish connections among research findings with implications for environmental quality, ecological health, and/or human health.

Studies in Gender and Sexuality

Expanded Routledge Psychoanalysis Coverage in PEPBeginning in the final two decades of the 20th century, the study of gender and sexuality has been revived from a variety of directions: the traditions of feminist scholarship, postclassical and postmodern psychoanalytic theory, developmental research, and cultural studies have all contributed to renewed fascination with those powerfully formative aspects of subjectivity that fall within the rubric of "gender" and "sexuality." Clinicians, for their part, have returned to gender and sexuality with heightened sensitivity to the role of these constructs in the treatment situation, including the richly variegated ways in which assumptions about gender and sexuality enter into our understandings of "normality" and "pathology." Studies in Gender and Sexuality is a response to the excitement attendant to recent research and writing by scholars and clinicians alike. It provides a forum for examining gender and sexuality that is both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary; in this way it seeks to broaden the purview8212;theoretical, clinical, and cultural8212;of all its readers and to promote constructive exchanges among them. As clinicians and scholars who have written and practiced at the intersection of feminist theory and clinical psychoanalysis for the past two decades, the Editors are particularly interested in those areas of controversy that invite the divergent perspectives and insights of different disciplines. The primary goal of Studies in Gender and Sexuality is to promote dialogue on these and other timely topics among clinicians, researchers, and theorists. Consonant with this goal, the journal also publishes related work from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, where questions involving gender and sexuality are currently in lively debate. SGS is directed equally to clinicians (psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers), developmental researchers, and academics working in cultural anthropology, family history, feminism, gender studies, queer studies, social history, sociology, and women' studies, all of whom share an interest in contemporary perspectives on gender and sexuality. Visual Communication Quarterly

Visual Communication Quarterly (VCQ) is an international, peer-reviewed journal of theory, research, practical criticism, and creative work in all areas of visual communication. Our goal is to promote an inclusive, broad discussion of all things visual, while also encouraging synthesis and theory building across our fascinating field of study. We define "visual" in the broadest sense of the word -- from dreams and cognitive theory through gesture and geography, as well as issues concerning visual ethics, visual ecology, representation, visual media in all forms, and visual behavior. Methods range from tightly controlled quantitative studies through critical analysis, essays, qualitative scholarship, and creative art. We also print numerous single images and portfolios as well as multimedia work on our Web site, a rarity among academic journals. VCQ, the official publication of the Visual Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, has published regularly since 1994. For 11 years, VCQ was distributed to more than 10,000 professionals and scholars through News Photographer magazine of the National Press Photographers Association. Our mission has broadened beyond visual journalism, design, and media to address the need for a publication encompassing the complex and wide-ranging field of visual communication and visual studies across media, art, and science. Our new format and distribution system not only allow us to publish more articles and creative work, while maintaining rigorous peer review, but also facilitate international access of articles and images through on-line databases.
