American Journal of Physiology - Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology

ISSN: 1040-0605eISSN: 1522-1504

The American Journal of Physiology - Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology publishes original research covering the broad scope of molecular, cellular, and integrative aspects of normal and abnormal function of cells and components of the respiratory system. Areas of interest include conducting airways, pulmonary circulation, lung endothelial and epithelial cells, the pleura, neuroendocrine and immunologic cells in the lung, neural cells involved in control of breathing, and cells of the diaphragm and thoracic muscles. The processes to be covered in the Journal include gas-exchange, metabolic control at the cellular level, intracellular signaling, gene expression, genomics, macromolecules and their turnover, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, cell motility, secretory mechanisms, membrane function, surfactant, matrix components, mucus and lining materials, lung defenses, macrophage function, transport of salt, water and protein, development and differentiation of the respiratory system, and response to the environment. Reports of research using innovative approaches in cell and organ physiology, molecular and cellular biology, molecular genetics, genomics including animal models of integrative function, biochemistry, biophysics, and morphology, are welcome. The Journal also encourages submission of original manuscripts in the field of translational physiology, an area of research that bridges the gap between basic lung, cellular, and molecular physiology and patient care. Manuscripts in this area may transfer clinical insights into hypotheses that can be tested and validated in the basic research laboratory, or they may transfer knowledge gained from basic research to human pathophysiology and to improved methods of treating or preventing disease.

Cement and Concrete Research

ISSN: 0008-8846

The aim of Cement and Concrete Research is to publish the best research on cement, cement composites, concrete and other allied materials that incorporate cement. In doing so, the journal will present: the results of research on the properties and performance of cement and concrete; novel experimental techniques; the latest analytical and modelling methods; the examination and the diagnosis of real cement and concrete structures; and the potential for improved materials. The fields which the journal aims to cover are:• Processing: Cement manufacture, mixing and rheology, admixtures and hydration. While the majority of articles will be concerned with Portland cements, we encourage articles on other cement systems, such as calcium aluminate.• Structural and Microstructural Characterisation of the unhydrated components and of hydrated systems including: the chemistry, crystal structure, pore structure of cement and concrete, characterisation techniques, and structural and microstructural modelling.• The properties of cement and concrete, including: fundamental physical properties; transport, mechanical and other properties, the processes of degradation of cement and concrete; and the modelling of properties, both as a means of predicting short and long performance, and as a means of relating a material's structure to its properties.• Applications for cement and concrete, including: concrete technology, fibre reinforcement, waste management, and novel concretes. The journal's principal publications are original articles containing new information, major reviews and selected papers from important conferences. Discussion of published material and rapid communications will form part of the journal where appropriate. The journal will focus on papers with a broad interest, based upon their subject area, the quality of the research, the novelty of the results and the potential for assimilation of the findings.

Complementary Therapies in Medicine

ISSN: 0965-2299eISSN: 1873-6963
DOAJ Logo

Complementary Therapies in Medicine is an international, peer-reviewed journal that has considerable appeal to anyone who seeks objective and critical information on complementary therapies or who wishes to deepen their understanding of these approaches. It will be of particular interest to healthcare practitioners including family practitioners, complementary therapists, nurses, and physiotherapists; to academics including social scientists and CAM researchers; to healthcare managers; and to patients.Complementary Therapies in Medicine aims to publish valid, relevant and rigorous research and serious discussion articles with the main purpose of improving healthcare. The journal believes that good healthcare needs to be based on clinical judgement and the available evidence on what is safe and effective, integrating conventional and complementary therapies as appropriate.Complementary Therapies in Medicine publishes a variety of articles including primary research, reviews and opinion pieces. Recognising that some forms of CAM present novel and complex interventions, the journal encourages the exploration of the methodology of research. It believes that researchers should always aim at employing high ethical and methodological standards, and also welcomes small or exploratory studies that make a contribution to the area. Well conducted studies with negative outcomes are also welcome if they inform patient care. The journal welcomes considered opinion pieces that reflect genuine disagreements but remain respectful of the views of others. Each issue features original, high quality research on complementary medicine, an abstracts sections with details of recently published research of high importance, as well as information and experiences on intregrating complementary medicine into mainstream care.

Ecohydrology

ISSN: 1936-0584eISSN: 1936-0592

Ecohydrology is an international journal publishing original scientific and review papers that aim to improve understanding of processes at the interface between ecology and hydrology and associated applications related to environmental management. Ecohydrology seeks to increase interdisciplinary insights by placing particular emphasis on interactions and associated feedbacks in both space and time between ecological systems and the hydrological cycle. Research contributions are solicited from disciplines focusing on the physical, ecological, biological, biogeochemical, geomorphological, drainage basin, mathematical and methodological aspects of ecohydrology. Research in both terrestrial and aquatic systems is of interest provided it explicitly links ecological systems and the hydrologic cycle; research such as aquatic ecological, channel engineering, or ecological or hydrological modelling is less appropriate for the journal unless it specifically addresses the criteria above. Manuscripts describing individual case studies are of interest in cases where broader insights are discussed beyond site- and species-specific results. The Journal also publishes research on new instrumentation and techniques if they describe truly new and significant advances in methodology that can be broadly applied to the ecohydrological understanding and management of environmental systems. Occasional special issues will be published that cover themes emergent from conferences, ecological and hydrological science societies and key research topics. Ecohydrology welcomes the submission of comment/reply on previously published papers. Such submissions should preferably be in the form of a short paper not exceeding 2000 words and relate to papers previously published in the Journal. All papers for Ecohydrology should be prepared in accordance with the notes for contributors.

International Reviews of Immunology

ISSN: 0883-0185eISSN: 1563-5244

This review journal provides the most current information on basic and translational research in immunology and related fields. In addition to invited reviews, the journal accepts for publication articles and editorials on relevant topics proposed by contributors. Each issue of International Reviews of Immunology contains both solicited and unsolicited review articles, editorials, and 'In-this-Issue' highlights. The journal also hosts reviews that position the authors' original work relative to advances in a given field, bridging the gap between annual reviews and the original research articles. This review series is relevant to all immunologists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, translational scientists, industry researchers, and physicians who work in basic and clinical immunology, inflammatory and allergic diseases, vaccines, and additional topics relevant to medical research and drug development that connect immunology to disciplines such as oncology, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders.Covered in International Reviews of Immunology:1) Basic and developmental immunology (innate and adaptive immunity; inflammation; and tumor and microbial immunology);2) Clinical research (mechanisms of disease in man pertaining to infectious diseases, autoimmunity, allergy, oncology / immunology); and3) Translational research (relevant to biomarkers, diagnostics, vaccines, and drug development). The editors' intent is that this journal provide the most recent and relevant information, hence the submissions are being reviewed by members of the editorial team and / or experts in the field; yet the turnaround time is short, in order to insure that the reviews contain the latest data. An international board of editors makes sure that the material presented is as broad as possible, both in terms of the geographic distribution of contributors and the range of interests represented.Read More: http://informahealthcare.com/page/iri/Description.
