Journal of Psychology and AI aims to bridge the understanding between artificial intelligence (AI) technology and its implications, applications, and interactions within psychological realms. The journal seeks to promote interdisciplinary research, fostering dialogue between technologists developing AI systems and psychologists exploring human behavior, cognitions, and emotions. The scope of the journal includes research from all types of psychological inquiry as well as allied disciplines.
In addition to publishing reports on direct human interaction with AI technology, the journal seeks submissions of research on how AI has wide-reaching influences on the way in which humans interact with and think about the world. Due to the rapid advances in AI technology, the scope of the journal also includes work about robots being embodied forms of AI. For that reason, this journal also covers topics about social robotics, human-robot interaction, robotics in education, and everything that can be included under robopsychology, defined as the psychology of, for, and by robots, robotics, and AI.

Findings from psychological research in Africa and related regions needs a forum for better dissemination and utilisation in the context of development. Special emphasis is placed on the consideration of African, African-American, Asian, Caribbean, and Hispanic-Latino realities and problems. Contributions should attempt a synthesis of emic and etic methodologies and applications. The Journal of Psychology in Africa includes original articles, review articles, book reviews, commentaries, special issues, case analyses, reports and announcements.

The journal publishes articles on research investigations that enhance understanding of psychopathology and mental disorders applicable to all ages, deviant or abnormal behaviors, including those related to medical conditions and trauma, and constructs descriptive of personality. It fosters inquiry into assessment, description, and classification of normal and abnormal behaviors, psychobiological factors predisposing, precipitating, and maintaining psychopathology, and theories of psychopathology and behavior change. Coverage spans studies of normal personality constructs and positive personal attributes, personal and environmental factors influencing behavioral outcomes, and interactive models of cognitive, emotional, and behavior resource factors as impacting normal and abnormal behaviors. The journal includes articles focusing on therapeutic interventions and accepts reviews, particurlary meta-analytic reviews.

The Journal of Abnormal Psychology® publishes articles on basic research and theory in the broad field of abnormal behavior, its determinants, and its correlates. The following general topics fall within its area of major focus: psychopathology—its etiology, development, symptomatology, and course; normal processes in abnormal individuals; pathological or atypical features of the behavior of normal persons; experimental studies, with human or animal subjects, relating to disordered emotional behavior or pathology; sociocultural effects on pathological processes, including the influence of gender and ethnicity; and tests of hypotheses from psychological theories that relate to abnormal behavior. Theoretical papers of scholarly substance on abnormality may be appropriate if they advance understanding of a specific issue directly relevant to abnormal psychology and fall within the length restrictions of a regular (not extended) article. The priority is empirical papers. Each article should represent an addition to knowledge and understanding of abnormal behavior in its etiology, description, or change. In order to improve the use of journal resources, it has been agreed that the Journal of Abnormal Psychology will not consider articles dealing with the diagnosis or treatment of abnormal behavior, and the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology will not consider articles dealing with the etiology or descriptive pathology of abnormal behavior. Therefore, a study that focuses primarily on treatment efficacy should be submitted to the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. However, a longitudinal study focusing on developmental influences or origins of abnormal behavior should be submitted to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology.
