Journal of Experimental Botany

ISSN: 0022-0957eISSN: 1460-2431

The Journal of Experimental Botany publishes high-quality primary research and review papers in the plant sciences. These papers cover a range of disciplines from molecular and cellular physiology and biochemistry through whole plant physiology to community physiology.Full-length primary papers should contribute to our understanding of how plants develop and function, and should provide new insights into biological processes. The journal will not publish purely descriptive papers or papers that report a well-known process in a species in which the process has not been identified previously. Articles should be concise and generally limited to 10 printed pages.JXB publishes Review Articles on a regular basis. JXB reviews should be scholarly articles; Not only should they summarise relevant information, but they should add value to current knowledge through constructive academic criticism, informed insight or well considered foresight. Review authors are encouraged to use illustrations, particularly if such illustrations could become useful teaching aids or research models. Reviews should generally not include previously unpublished data. All review articles pass through the same refereeing process as regular articles and the response time to first decision can be expected to match the journal’s target of 28 days. The Reviews Editor welcomes offers of review articles in any area of plant science. Authors are encouraged to send a brief outline of the article to the Reviews Editor for consideration before preparation of a full manuscript. Reviews are also commissioned, often as collections which may be associated with scientific meetings, and published as Special issues. Smaller collections form Focus Sections in regular volumes of the journal.Opinion papers that express a particular point of view on a controversial topic relevant to any aspect of plant science are also considered. Outlines of Opinion Papers should be submitted to j.exp.bot@lancaster.ac.uk for consideration before preparation of a full manuscript.

Journal of Experimental Medicine

ISSN: 0022-1007eISSN: 1540-9538

Since its inception in 1896, The Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) has published papers on the physiological, pathological, and molecular mechanisms that encompass the host response to disease. The journal prioritizes studies on intact organisms and has made a commitment to publishing studies on human subjects.JEM originsThe JEM was founded in 1896 at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine by William Welch, the school’s founder and also the first president of the Board of Scientific Directors of the Rockefeller Institute. From its inception, Welch edited the journal by himself—even editing manuscripts while attending baseball games—and he eventually found that it placed too heavy a burden on his time. By March 1902, the editorial burden became too great for Welch, who stopped publishing papers and began stockpiling manuscripts and unanswered correspondence in his office, explaining the conspicuous absence of published papers from 1902 to 1904 (see JEM Archives). In October 1902, Welch appealed to the board of The Rockefeller Institute to take over the journal. The transfer of ownership and publication responsibilities required the physical transfer of manuscripts from Welch’s office, which fell to the director of The Rockefeller Institute, Simon Flexner, who carried the abandoned manuscripts from Baltimore to New York in a suitcase. The first issue of the JEM published by The Rockefeller Institute appeared in February 1905, with Flexner serving as editor, and the journal has been published regularly since then. Although the journal was adopted by The Rockefeller Institute as a venue for publication of the Institute’s own research, it also accepted submissions from outside. Even in the early years, more than half of the papers published in the journal came from external labs. .

Journal of Experimental Psychology: General

ISSN: 0096-3445eISSN: 1939-2222

The Journal of Experimental Psychology: General® publishes articles describing empirical work that bridges the traditional interests of two or more communities of psychology. The work may touch on issues dealt with in JEP: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, JEP: Human Perception and Performance, JEP: Animal Behavior Processes, or JEP: Applied, but may also concern issues in other subdisciplines of psychology, including social processes, developmental processes, psychopathology, neuroscience, or computational modeling.Articles in JEP: General may be longer than the usual journal publication if necessary.Brief reports will also be accepted (up to 3,000 words, excluding title, references, author affiliations, acknowledgments, figures and figure legends, but including the abstract). Brief reports will be rejected without review by editors at a higher rate than longer articles and the Journal will only accept the most innovative and significant empirical and theoretical contributions, with a preference for work that impacts more than one area of psychology.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance

ISSN: 0096-1523eISSN: 1939-1277

The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance® publishes studies on perception, control of action, perceptual aspects of language processing, and related cognitive processes. All sensory modalities and motor systems are within its purview. The journal also encourages studies with a neuroscientific perspective that contribute to the functional understanding of perception and performance. There are three types of articles: * Observations facilitate the rapid communication of ground-breaking research of general interest to readers of the journal. Observations are limited to 2,000 words in the main body of the text. A cover letter should explain why the research is appropriate to present as an Observation. * Reports consist of empirical studies that increase theoretical understanding of human perception and performance. Studies will typically include human data, although machine and animal studies that reflect on human capabilities may also be published. Should an author submit a full Report following an Observation, the relationship between the two manuscripts must be acknowledged in an author footnote. * Commentary may occasionally be published consisting of nonempirical reports, theoretical notes, or criticism on topics pertinent to the journal's concerns.
