Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition

eISSN: 1755-6724

Acta Geologica Sinica (English Edition) is an academic quarterly of the Geological Society of China. It was established in 1922 and is one of the earliest scientific journals in China. Its predecessor was the Bulletin of the Geological Society of Chinaand published papers mainly in English, with some in German and French. With one volume a year, it carried the results of geological investigations of the members of the society and papers presented in annual meetings of the society.

After having published 31 volumes, the journal was renamed Acta Geologica Sinicain 1952 and released papers in Chinese instead of foreign languages, but it was continuously numbered and published by the Science Press of China and was distributed at home in China and abroad. With a 4-year break during 1967-1971, it has published 76 volumes. In March 1988, to meet the need for international exchange, Acta Geologica Sinica -English Edition resumed publication in English and carried the English translation of the papers of the Chinese edition.  Since 1997, Acta Geologica Sinica -English Edition has been numbered in the same way as the Chinese edition and not carried the full text translation of the Chinese edition in principle but directly carried the English originals.

Acta Geologica Sinica-English Edition mainly reports the latest and most important achievements in the theoretical and basic research in geological sciences, together with new technologies. Papers published involve various aspects of research concerning geosciences and related disciplines, such as stratigraphy, palaeontology, origin and history of the Earth, structural geology, tectonics, mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, geophysics, geology of mineral deposits, hydrogeology, engineering geology, environmental geology, regional geology and new theories and technologies of geological exploration. Its readers include scientists of research institutions and teachers and students of institutions of higher learning. Sources of papers are plentiful and come from the world over. The ratio of papers published to those submitted is 20~30% and the journal enjoys free choice for better papers in a large number of papers submitted.

Acta Geologica Sinica-English Edition has always been regarded as an academic journal of the highest level in geological sciences of China by numerous domestic readers. It is one of the kernel periodicals of natural science of China. In recent years, it has been indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded. The journal was awarded the title of excellent scientific and technological periodicals of China by the Ministry of Science and Technology, General Administration of Press and Publishing and China Association for Science and Technology. In 2001, it was included in the National Periodical Array of China.

In the new century, the world enters a new stage in which science and technology become more and more important, economical and social demands on geoscientist are mounting and geological research serves the society in broader areas. As an important component of modern science and technology, geological science and technology are in need of greater and faster development. In the new era, Acta Geologica Sinica-English has much to do in promoting developments in geological sciences.

eISSN: 2692-7691

The American Journal of Physical Anthropology (AJPA) is the official journal of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists. The Journal is published monthly in three quarterly volumes. In addition, two supplements appear on an annual basis, the Yearbook of Physical Anthropology, which publishes major review articles, and the Annual Meeting Issue, containing the Scientific Program of the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists and abstracts of posters and podium presentations. The Yearbook of Physical Anthropology has its own editor, appointed by the Association, and is handled independently of the AJPA. As measured by impact factor, the AJPA is among the top journals listed in the anthropology category by the Social Science Citation Index. The reputation of the AJPA as the leading publication in physical anthropology is built on its nearly century-long record of publishing high quality scientific articles in a wide range of topics. The Editor-in-Chief welcomes for consideration manuscripts that contribute to an understanding of the evolution of members of the order Primates, with particular emphasis on human biological evolution and variation. Within this framework, the AJPA publishes in established areas, including human biology and non-human primate behavior, and also seeks submissions in new and developing fronts that contribute to the growth of the science and increased understanding of human and non-human primate evolution. The AJPA publishes scientific articles without page charges, as well as invited commentaries, book reviews, and short communications dealing mostly with methodological and technical issues. ISSN: 1367-9430eISSN: 1469-1795

Animal Conservation provides a forum for rapid publication of novel, peer-reviewed research into the conservation of animal species and their habitats. The focus is on rigorous quantitative studies of an empirical or theoretical nature, which may relate to populations, species or communities and their conservation. The journal publishes single-species papers only when they have clear broader implications for conservation of other species or systems or when the species is of exceptional conservation concern and the study presents new and essential information. A central theme is to publish important new ideas and findings that have general implications for the scientific basis of conservation. Subjects covered include population biology, epidemiology, evolutionary ecology, population genetics, biodiversity, biogeography, palaeobiology and conservation economics. The journal is essential reading for conservation biologists, policy-makers and students. Animal Conservation is published quarterly. A principal objective is to ensure rapid publication of new and original research (ideally within 6 months of submission) following a rigorous review process. Articles should be written in a style that can be understood by the general reader. Papers should have a broad interest and specific or single-species studies will only be considered if the findings have general implications. Cross-disciplinary papers, suggesting new approaches, are particularly encouraged. Proposals for reviews and forum papers intended to promote discussion are particularly welcomed by the Editors. Animal Conservation is a member of and subscribes to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Please note that Appendices are no longer published in the printed version of Animal Conservation. Supplementary material may be published in electronic form.

Annals of Human Genetics

ISSN: 0003-4800eISSN: 1469-1809

The Annals of Human Genetics is an international journal publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research. The principal aim of the Annals is to increase understanding of the biology of human variation, both in disease and in health. In recent years it has become apparent that the study of population genetics is extremely relevant to molecular pathology. The interaction of these fields can greatly increase our understanding of the generation and maintenance of variation in the human genome. The major topics covered in the Annals include:- Human genome variation - its evolution and implications for human biology. Interpretations of the current or future state of the human genome sequence are also welcomed. Human population genetics - including studies which elucidate human history, our understanding of chromosome evolution, and the geographic distribution of particular diseases, worldwide. The journal will also consider studies on primate populations. Statistical genetics - the application and improvement of mathematical approaches for analysis of genetic data, including linkage and association mapping of genes and QTLs. The journal also welcomes papers focussing on more general bioinformatic approaches. Genetics of common multifactorial diseases and other complex traits and QTLs - in general we expect these to be human but relevant animal models will also be considered. Mendelian disorders and their molecular pathology - the emphasis will again be on human disease but animal models or in vitro work may also be considered. In each of these areas we welcome high quality articles providing original data and/or analysis, and also methodological papers, preferably including application to real data. Large datasets and additional material can be stored and made easily available through the journal web site. An absolute requirement of all papers will be that a general reader of the journal can understand from the summary of the paper what problem the authors are trying to solve. Most articles published will be full-length research papers, and in each issue we aim to have at least one review article. Reviews are generally invited, but suggestions are very welcome and preliminary enquiries should be directed to the Reviews Editor, Steve Humphries. Short communications will also be considered if of sufficient interest.

Arabian Archaeology and Epigraphy

ISSN: 0905-7196eISSN: 1600-0471

In recent years the Arabian peninsula has emerged as one of the major new frontiers of archaeological research in the Old World. Arabian Archaeology and Epigraphy is a forum for the publication of studies in the archaeology, epigraphy, numismatics, and early history of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Both original articles and short communications in English, French, and German are published, ranging in time from prehistory to the Islamic era. In addition, studies touching on different parts of the region and their relations with neighbouring areas such as Africa, the Levant, Mesopotamia, Iran, and the Indus Valley are invited. Studies pertaining more directly to these areas, however, will only be considered if the link to the Arabian peninsula is clear and of central importance. Contributions concerned with inscriptions from the Arabian peninsula, whether recorded in the field or housed in public and private collections around the world, will also be welcomed. Review articles will appear periodically. Arabian Archaeology and Epigraphy is essential reading for all archaeologists, historians, philologists, and numismatists concerned with the ancient Near East. It is of interest to students of classical antiquity, Egyptology, and south Asian archaeology. We hope that the articles published in this journal will enrich our understanding of Arabia from the period of its earliest human occupation to the Middle Ages, and that existence of a forum for studies on the Arabian peninsula will give added impetus to research in this field.
