The Journal of Asian Public Policy was launched in 2008. This exciting new journal focuses on one of the most vibrant regions of the contemporary world. Both China and India are now recognized to be critical players in the global economy, with economic profiles that grow on an annual basis. East Asian economies that started to develop somewhat earlier, following the Japanese lead, remain among the most important economies in the world. The emergent regions of South and Southeast Asia have many dynamic economic sectors. Public policy, governance and development issues are drawing increasing attention not only from academia but also from the wider business, professional and policy communities. Development and policy issues will be defined broadly. Comparative analysis and current policy debates will be particularly stressed. Asia will also be defined broadly to encompass an area bounded by Mongolia in the north, Indonesia in the south, Korea in the east, and Afghanistan in the west. Articles that do not have an explicit Asian focus will be considered only if they have clear relevance to an Asian readership.

The region of the Balkans and the Near East has assumed an important geo-political and global economic significance since the end of the Cold War. This territory, which includes old and new nation-states of the former Ottoman Empire and Soviet Union, stands at the crossroads of an expanding West (NATO, the EU) and a re-emerging East (Russia, China, India). A focus on the Balkans and the Near East in a more globalized world must involve the re-examination of widely held assumptions, modern historical claims, and political, economic and security assertions concerning the nation-states of Southeastern Europe and the Near East. In this context, the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies seeks to address, in an historical and theoretically-informed manner, the complex historical, economic, political, diplomatic, cultural and security issues that confront the region, in the light of such important developments as the process of European integration, the evolution of NATO, and the more general changes in the international governance system after the end of the Cold War in Eurasia and the terrorist attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001. The journal encourages modern historical research, comparative approaches, critical scholarship and a diversity of international relations and geo-political views on the region, as it seeks to construct an academic forum to bring together disparate scholarly perspectives. The Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies, which expands and complements the research agenda and fruitful academic experience of the Journal of Southern Europe and the Balkans, is a strictly peer-reviewed quarterly publication. In The Journal of Behavioral Finance leaders in many fields are brought together to address the implications of current work on individual and group emotion, cognition, and action for the behavior of markets. They include specialists in personality, social, and clinical psychology; psychiatry; organizational behavior; accounting; marketing; sociology; anthropology; behavioral economics; finance; and the multidisciplinary study of judgment and decision making. The journal will foster debate among groups who have keen insights into the behavioral patterns of markets but have not historically published in the more traditional financial and economic journals. Further, it will stimulate new interdisciplinary research and theory that will build a body of knowledge about the psychological influences on market fluctuations. The most obvious benefit will be a new understanding of markets that can greatly improve investment decision making. Another benefit will be the opportunity for behavioral scientists to expand the scope of their studies via the use of the enormous databases that document behavior in markets.Peer Review Policy: All research articles in Journal of Behavioral Finance have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by two anonymous referees. Journal of Civil Society is the leading academic voice for research and policy analysis on civil society. As a peer-reviewed journal with demanding standards, JCS provides a high profile, high impact outlet for world-class scholarship and debate on civil society, and serve as the authoritative source for research in an emerging field that lacks a central organ for dissemination.Civil society is a contested concept. There is little agreement on its precise meaning, though much overlap exists among core conceptual components. In its transnational dimension, the term goes beyond the notion of both nation state and national society, and allows us to examine critical aspects of globalisation and the emergence of a new social, cultural and political sphere.JCS seeks to improve the theoretical understanding and empirical knowledge of civil society, its nature, patterns and composition, its history, development, and relationships with the economy, the political system and society at large. A major focus of the journal is to encourage and inform the range of scholarships and approaches on civil society across disciplines and national as well as cultural boundaries.Specifically, JCS welcomes research and contributions on the history and evolution of civil society in different world regions, at local and regional levels, types, forms and expressions of civil society, empirical work on structure and change of civil society, mapping the contours and dimensions of civil society, theoretical and conceptual studies, comparative analysis, inter and cross disciplinary approaches, policy analysis, institutions, community, social inequality, social inclusion, social justice, social and cultural capital, economy, governance and democracy.Civil society cuts across disciplinary boundaries and brings into focus some of the longstanding and nagging questions about the relationship between economy, polity and society. Indeed, civil society may well emerge as the most significant conceptual innovation of the social sciences at the turn of the century. The concept signals the beginning of an intellectual shift away from disciplinary specialisation on 'the' state and 'the' market to more general debate about key aspects of the human condition. This shift, and the growing importance of the term civil society in virtually all social sciences may well be indicative of a potential paradigmatic change among the major social sciences more generally.

Journal of Community Archaeology & Heritage is a new journal intended for participants, volunteers, practitioners, and academics involved in the many projects and practices broadly defined as ‘community archaeology’. This is intended to include the excavation, management, stewardship or presentation of archaeological and heritage resources that include major elements of community participation, collaboration, or outreach.
The journal recognises the growing interest in voluntary activism in archaeological research and interpretation, and seeks to create a platform for discussion about the efficacy and importance of such work as well as a showcase for the dissemination of community archaeology projects (which might offer models of best practice for others). By inviting papers relating to theory and practice from across the world, the journal seeks to demonstrate both the diversity of community archaeology and its commonalities in process and associated theory. We seek contributions from members of the voluntary sector as well as those involved in archaeological practice and academia.

The Journal of Contemporary European Studies (previously Journal of European Area Studies) seeks to provide a forum for interdisciplinary debate about the theory and practice of area studies as well as for empirical studies of European societies, politics and cultures. The central area focus of the journal is European in its broadest geographical definition. However, the examination of European 'areas' and themes are enhanced as a matter of editorial policy by non-European perspectives. The Journal intends to attract the interest of both cross-national and single-country specialists in European studies and to counteract the worst features of Eurocentrism with coverage of non-European views on European themes. The Journal of Contemporary European Studies pursues a thematic approach to individual issues by dedicating a section of each issue to the examination of a specific theme, although there is also ample scope for outstanding individual articles that are not related to the theme of each issue. In addition, each issue contains a section reserved for contributions in the debate on the theory and practice of area studies. In line with the Journal's commitment to the encouragement and promotion of debate, the editorial board welcomes critical replies to articles that have appeared in earlier issues. The journal also has a strong reviews section, which always includes a large number of reviews on recently published books relating to issue themes. The journal continues to draw contributors from European and area studies departments and from a variety of disciplines within the humanities and the social sciences, and features regular articles on the advantages, scope and limitations of interdisciplinarity.Peer Review Policy:All research articles published in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.Disclaimer for scientific, technical and social science publications:Taylor & Francis makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the "Content") contained in its publications. Journal of Cultural Economy is part of the Culture, Economy and the Social publishing programme of the ESRC Centre for Research on Socio Cultural Change (CRESC). Its concern is with the role played by various forms of material cultural practice in the organisation of the economy and the social, and of the relations between them. As such it will provide a unique interdisciplinary forum for work on these questions from across the social sciences and humanities. These include the contributions of actor network theory and science studies to debates about the 8216;performativity' of the economy and the social and the parallel discussions about the distributive nature of economic and social agency across networks of things and persons that is evident in social anthropology, and material culture studies. In cultural studies, feminism and sociology, a range of perspectives have been deployed to explore the making up of social and organizational identities, and this has been complemented by approaches to the governance of economies and of the social stimulated by Foucault's work on 8216;governmentality'. This has been paralleled by important historical work on the relations between culture, economy and the social. A renewed focus on material cultures of production and consumption has also been animated by the work of Gilles Deleuze and of Pierre Bourdieu. While all of these approaches to the relations between culture, economy and the social have interacted with and influenced each other, there has been a relative shortage of debate across and between them. Journal of Cultural Economy seeks to remedy this deficiency by providing the premiere forum for debating the relations between culture, economy and the social in all their various manifestations.Peer Review Policy:Published articles in Journal of Cultural Economy have all been subjected to rigorous peer review comprising initial editorial screening and anonymous refereeing by at least two referees. The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics is a peer reviewed journal covering all aspects of the graphic novel, comic strip and comic book, with the emphasis on comics in their cultural, institutional and creative contexts. Its scope is international, covering not only English language comics but also worldwide comic culture. The journal reflects interdisciplinary research in comics and aims to establish a dialogue between academics, historians, theoreticians and practitioners of comics. It therefore examines the production and consumption of comics within the contexts of culture: art, cinema, television and new media technologies. The journal will include all forms of 'sequential imagery' including precursors of the comic but the main emphasis will be on twentieth and twenty-first century examples, reflecting the increasing interest in the modern forms of the comic, its production and cultural consumption. Support for the Journal of Graphic Novels and ComicsThe Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics has come along at just the right time. The rapid growth in comics study in the academy, both within and across a number of disciplines, has revealed the increasing need of a peer-reviewed journal that is both interdisciplinary and that looks at comics in all its manifestations. Such a journal would serve as both a central gathering point for interesting scholarship, and as a legitimating force for the new scholars staking out this territory. The journal is well poised to address comics with the dynamism that the medium demands as well as the rigour which has been sometimes lacking. Scott Bukatman, Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies, Stanford University, USA The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics is a new and greatly needed kid on the academic block that fills a gap in the expanding field of Comics Studies. It's interdisciplinary focus on one of the most enduring art forms of the last century promises to encourage the publication of exciting, new research into the study of comics and the media they impact upon.Angela Ndalianis, Board of Directors, Institute for Comics Studies, Melbourne University The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics represents the next, needed stage in the development of comics studies as a discipline with its own academic institutions. The journal recognizes the inherently interdisciplinary nature of comics and points to the growing conversation taking place between scholars and professionals. To advance in the academy, comics scholars need the validation of peer review, and comics as a medium needs additional outlets for serious analysis and discussion. JGNC is a welcome addition to and recognition of the growing field of comics studies and the importance of the comics medium in the twenty-first century.Peter Coogan, Director of the Institute for Comics Studies, Washington University in St. Louis, USA DisclaimerTaylor & Francis makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 8220;Content8221;) contained in its publications. The ease of migration has brought global change and a multitude of new issues and opportunities for nations and immigrants. To reflect an interdisciplinary and broader range of subjects, the Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Services has been renamed the Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies. As always, the journal remains a peer-reviewed publication that is now interdisciplinary and international in scope exploring issues such as immigration policy, health and mental health of immigrants, sociological and/or economic implications of immigration/emigration, and business practices in serving immigrants and refugees, present and future programs and services, and other related topics. The Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies explores the effects of worldwide migration. The range of opportunities offered across the globe as well as traumas caused by war, revolutions, famine, terrorism, and economic difficulties have seen the movements of thousands of people who have left their homes, migrating either across regions or across borders. Nations are faced with the task of developing policies and programs to accommodate these waves of migration, particularly in the face of the increasing displacement of large groups of people. Countries losing citizens must adapt to the drains on their workforces. On the other hand, movements of people also provide unanticipated opportunities to nations that accept newcomers, many of whom may bring substantial human, social, and financial capital. Migration, then, has benefits and difficulties both for those migrating and for the nations affected. Resources entering countries can enhance and strengthen them; however, xenophobia, cross-cultural conflicts, and adaptation difficulties can be particularly troubling. This journal explores the experiences of migration, its social, economic, and political impact on receiving nations and regions, and the effects of emigration on the home territories. It provides a forum for quality knowledge and research in an area that is expected to continue to grow substantially. The Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies is international in scope, with full-length theoretical, empirical, and programmatic articles from national and international authorities discussing the pressing concerns of those who migrate into, through, or out of a country and those nations affected by them. Drawing upon the findings from island biogeography studies, Norman Myers estimates that we are losing between 50-200 species per day, a rate 120,000 times greater than the background rate during prehistoric times. Worse still, the rate is accelerating rapidly. By the year 2000, we may have lost over one million species, counting back from three centuries ago when this trend began. By the middle of the next century, as many as one half of all species may face extinction. Moreover, our rapid destruction of critical ecosystems, such as tropical coral reefs, wetlands, estuaries, and rainforests may seriously impair species' regeneration, a process that has taken several million years after mass extinctions in the past. Additionally, the loss of species from all major categories contrasts sharply with what happened in the late Cretaceous period when most species of placental mammals, birds, amphibians, non-dinosaurian reptiles and terrestrial plants survived. This may severely deplete evolution's speciation capacity for a far longer time than after past periods of mass extinctions. As Myers concludes, within the space of our lifetime, just a few human generations, we shall -- in the absence of greatly expanded conservation efforts -- impoverish the biosphere to an extent that will persist for at least 200,000 human generations.Recognizing that the loss of species at this level of magnitude will have profound implications from both a utilitarian and moral perspective, the Journal of International Wildlife Law & Policy's mission is to address legal and political issues concerning the human race's interrelationship with and management of wildlife species, their habitats, and the biosphere. This includes analysis of the efficacy of international and regional wildlife treaty regimes in conserving species (as well as national legislation and regulations enacted to implement such regimes), the impact of judicial decisions at both the national and international level, and the interface of legal and political institutions with other sectors in society that have a substantive impact on the management and conservation of species and ecosystems.Peer Review Policy:All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by three anonymous referees.Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 325 Chestnut Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
The business world has undergone many changes because of information technology, and the impact of the Internet may cause one of the biggest yet. While many people use the Internet for educational and entertainment purposes, organizations and companies are looking for ways to tie their internal networks to this global network to conduct electronic commerce. While companies have been conducting business electronically with suppliers and customers for many years, conducting online commerce via the Internet offers even greater opportunities for multinational, national, and even small businesses to cut costs, improve efficiency, and reach a global market. According to some, the Internet will "drive the economy into the next century." Numerous companies already conduct business on the Internet while others scramble to create a presence and catch up. The ability to conduct business anywhere at anytime with anybody who has access to the Internet is definitely moving society a little closer to the "global village" concept that has been touted as a future way of life. More importantly, it is changing the face of business and commerce. Because of the significance of the impact of the Internet on business and organizations, the Journal of Internet Commerce174; is devoted to publishing articles that discuss issues vital to conducting electronic commerce on the Internet. Additionally, the journal will also solicit and publish manuscripts dealing with educational issues related to Internet commerce. Thus, the purpose of the Journal of Internet Commerce174; is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners for publishing high-quality materials and discussing issues related to conducting business on the Internet. Because of the global nature of the Internet, the journal is international in nature and will publish articles on international issues as well as country-specific research. Important issues include, but are not limited to, the impact of the Internet on all aspects of commerce, organizations, and the decision-making framework within an organization. Additional issues include adoption and implementation of Internet technology, assessment, security, and strategic considerations related to Internet commerce. Researchers studying these and other related issues are encouraged to submit manuscripts directly to the editor. Manuscripts will undergo a blind, peer-review process consisting of at least two reviewers. With peer-reviewed research studies, cases, and practitioner experiences, the Journal of Internet Commerce174; hopes to provide an outlet for sharing knowledge and experiences related to conducting business on the Internet. The intention of the journal is to provide a source of information that will bring practitioners and academicians together as the dynamic technology of the Internet continues to change the many aspects of commerce.
