The International Journal of Mechanical Sciences (IJMS) is an international forum for the publication and dissemination of original work which contributes to greater scientific understanding of the main disciplines underpinning the mechanical, civil and material engineering sciences.Original contributions providing insight into the use of analytical, computational (e.g. FEM, BEM, mesh-free methods and others) modelling methods for rigid-body mechanics (e.g. dynamics, vibration, stability), structural mechanics, metal forming, behaviour and application of advanced materials (metals, composite, cellular, smart etc.), impact mechanics, strain localization and other effects of nonlinearity (e.g. large deflections, plasticity, fracture etc.), fluid mechanics (external and internal flows), tribology, thermodynamics and materials processing generally form the core of the journal contents.The International Journal of Mechanical Sciences does not accept for publication material which quite specifically belongs with other established specialist journals. Papers whose concern is primarily with mathematical or computational techniques, developed within a general framework and not aimed at any specific engineering application, are not requested. Similarly, papers whose content is purely descriptive or empirical and which do not make any scientific contribution, will not be considered. Comparison with experiments/tests conducted by the authors or others to validate the main contribution of the paper are strongly encouraged, however design-based studies, based on established formulae and methods, are outside our scope and should not be submitted to the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences.Only original, innovative and novel papers will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences and before considering their work, authors are required to confirm that their paper has not been submitted to any other journal in English or any other language. Occasionally, 'Letters to the Editor' are considered.

International Journal of Medical Informatics provides an international medium for dissemination of original results and interpretative reviews concerning the field of medical informatics. The Journal emphasizes the evaluation of systems in healthcare settings.The scope of journal covers:Information systems, including national or international registration systems, hospital information systems, departmental and/or physician's office systems, document handling systems, electronic medical record systems, standardization, systems integration etc.;Computer-aided medical decision support systems using heuristic, algorithmic and/or statistical methods as exemplified in decision theory, protocol development, artificial intelligence, etc.Educational computer based programs pertaining to medical informatics or medicine in general;Organizational, economic, social, clinical impact, ethical and cost-benefit aspects of IT applications in health care.Short technical communications concerning (solved) problems in implementing or using existing information systems are welcome. Review articles concerning subjects falling in the scope of the journal are also invited.

Pathogen genome sequencing projects have provided a wealth of data that need to be set in context to pathogenicity and the outcome of infections. In addition, the interplay between a pathogen and its host cell has become increasingly important to understand and interfere with diseases caused by microbial pathogens. IJMM meets these needs by focussing on genome and proteome analyses, studies dealing with the molecular mechanisms of pathogenicity and the evolution of pathogenic agents, the interactions between pathogens and host cells ("cellular microbiology"), and molecular epidemiology. To help the reader keeping up with the rapidly evolving new findings in the field of medical microbiology, IJMM publishes original articles, case studies and topical, state-of-the-art mini-reviews in a well balanced fashion. All articles are strictly peer-reviewed. Important topics are reinforced by 2 special issues per year dedicated to a particular theme. Finally, at irregular intervals, current opinions on recent or future developments in medical microbiology are presented in an editorial section.

The International Journal of Mineral Processing covers all aspects of the processing of solid-mineral materials such as metallic and non-metallic ores, coals and other solid sources of secondary materials, etc. Topics dealt with include: comminution, sizing, classification (in air and water), gravity concentration, flotation, electric and magnetic separation, miscellaneous physical separation techniques, mixing and blending, thickening, filtering, drying, storage, transport, agglomeration, pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy (when applied to low-grade raw materials), biohydrometallurgy (when applied to low-grade raw materials), biometallurgy (use of bacteria and other living organisms), testing, control and automation, waste treatment and disposal and mineralogical studies (when related to beneficiation). The International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine is a peer-reviewed journal that provides for the publication of high quality research articles and review papers that are as broad as the many disciplines that influence and underpin the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine. Particular emphasis is given to basic science research, clinical epidemiology and health social science in relation to osteopathy and neuromusculoskeletal medicine.The Editorial Board encourages submission of articles based on both quantitative and qualitative research designs. The Editorial Board also aims to provide a forum for discourse and debate on any aspect of osteopathy and neuromusculoskeletal medicine with the aim of critically evaluating existing practices in regard to the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal disorders and somatic dysfunction. All manuscripts submitted to the IJOM are subject to a blinded review process. Paleopathology is the study and application of methods and techniques for investigating diseases and related conditions from skeletal and soft tissue remains. The International Journal of Paleopathology (IJPP) will publish original and significant articles on human and animal (including hominids) disease, based upon the study of physical remains, including osseous, dental, and preserved soft tissues at a range of methodological levels, from direct observation to molecular, chemical, histological and radiographic analysis. Discussion of ways in which these methods can be applied to the reconstruction of health, disease and life histories in the past is central to the discipline, so the journal would also encourage papers covering interpretive and theoretical issues, and those that place the study of disease at the centre of a bioarchaeological or biocultural approach. Papers dealing with historical evidence relating to disease in the past (rather than history of medicine) will also be published. The journal will also accept significant studies that applied previously developed techniques to new materials, setting the research in the context of current debates on past human and animal health.

Types of paper:

• Research Articles: A full-length, original scholarly article, for example a contextually grounded study of disease one or more ancient communities. Both historical and prehistoric perspectives are appropriate for publication inIJPP. Research articles will usually contain the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Articlehttp://ees.elsevier.com/ijppsubmissions should not normally exceed 6000 words excluding tables and citations.

• Case Study: Case studies of special significance are suitable for publication inIJPP. These must be justified in terms of disease, temporal, and/or locational uniqueness. As a rule, case studies are normally less lengthy than research reports and should not exceed 3000 words, excluding tables and citations.

• Technical Note: Normally shorter than research reports (and not to exceed 1500 words excluding tables and citations), technical notes describe innovative methodologies or validation techniques.

• Brief Communication: No longer than a published page (1500 words maximum, excluding tables and citations), brief communications report the presence of a condition not sufficiently unique to merit a longer treatment (case study). Brief communications register data that may be useful for other researchers wishing to initiate comparative analyses.

• Review: Reviews of periodicals, books or other media related to paleopathology. Book reviews will normally be solicited by the IJPP Review Editor. Individual volumes of special interest to the readership of the IJPP are appropriate, as are volumes in related fields. Cluster reviews of recent publications that place them in historical and disciplinary contexts are also encouraged. Authors who wish to volunteer individual or cluster reviews should consult with the Review Editor concerning the suitability of material and length of the contribution.

• Invited Commentary: Commentaries invited by the Editor-in-Chief.
