Since its establishment in 1969 with the aim of developing nuclear-related academies and technology, the society has - over the past 40 years - played a significant role in Korea's emergence as the world's 6th nuclear powerhouse. Indeed, as Korea lacks natural resources, nuclear energy has made a great contribution to Korea's economic growth over the last 30 years as an economical source of energy.Compared to other energy sources, nuclear energy is more technology-intensive, so continuous technological exchange and R&D are necessary. Ever since nuclear energy was first introduced, the Korean Nuclear Society has strived to acquire new technology with a passion for academic research. Today, the society consists of 2,700 members, and the academic conferences it holds in spring and fall set the stage for active R&D and collaboration among more than 1,000 participants. Furthermore, the listing of the NET journal in SCIE has allowed the Korean Nuclear Society to step forward as an internationally-recognized organization.

Nuclear Materials and Energy

eISSN: 2352-1791
DOAJ Logo
The open-access journal Nuclear Materials and Energy is devoted to the growing field of research for material application in the production of nuclear energy. Nuclear Materials and Energy publishes original research articles of up to 6 pages in length.
Nuclear Materials and Energy is supported scientifically by the Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany for two reasons:
  • Nuclear Materials and Energy is the first fully open-access journal in this field. The Max-Planck-Society has started the Open-Access Initiative in 2003 realizing that a stable, competitive, and quality-assured OA publication system offers immense benefits to the research community. Particularly research using public funding has the responsibility to make results freely available to all interested readers.
  • At the same time it is of paramount importance that the transition to OA must preserve or even improve the quality standards of the present subscription-based model. The Journal adopts a rigorous peer-reviewing policy to guarantee high quality standards. A broad Editorial Board of renowned experts covering the full scope of the journal helps in the evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

The scientific support by the Max-Planck Institut für Plasmaphysik also underlines its contribution to the field of research on plasma-facing materials and determines the scientific scope of the Journal. The emphasis will be on materials employed in reactors where they are exposed to extreme environments in terms of radiation, temperature and corrosive conditions. The main topics are:

• Fusion reactor materials, including plasma-facing components, blankets, insulators and magnets.
• Material erosion and transport in the boundary of fusion plasmas and its effect on the incident plasma conditions.
• Interaction of plasmas, ion beams, electron beams and intense heat fluxes with materials with emphasis on lifetime, tritium retention and permeation, and structural stability.
• Reactor materials enduring radiation doses at very high temperature far beyond the capability of materials now available for components, but excluding fuel cycle, actinide compounds, and nuclear waste.
• The material behaviour in the interaction with reactor coolants during normal operation and in accidental conditions.
• Materials behaviour addressing the release of fuel, activated dust and reaction products during accidental conditions, and the physical and chemical interactions of reactor core and containment materials.
• Neutron and charged particle radiation effects in materials, including defects, gas retention and permeation, transmutations, microstructural changes, phase changes and macroscopic properties.

The manuscript must contain new experimental results as well as theoretical evaluations and computer simulations. The manuscript must focus on materials science and engineering related to application in nuclear energy production. Thus, all topics within nuclear science and engineering or materials science and engineering without relevance to energy production do not necessarily fall within the scope.

The Journal is dedicated to original research manuscripts with a maximum length of six journal pages. The Journal can stimulate research and interest by soliciting invited reviews also exceeding the 6 page limit.

Nuclear Medicine and Biology

ISSN: 0969-8051eISSN: 1872-9614

Nuclear Medicine and Biology publishes original research addressing all aspects of radiopharmaceutical science: synthesis, in vitro and ex vivo studies, in vivo biodistribution by dissection or imaging, radiopharmacology, radiopharmacy, and translational clinical studies of targeted radiotracers. The importance of the target to a key disease should be the first consideration. If the synthesis of a new radiopharmaceutical is submitted without in vitro or in vivo data, then the uniqueness of the chemistry must be emphasized. These multidisciplinary studies should validate the mechanism of localization whether the probe is based on binding to a receptor, enzyme, tumor antigen, or another well-defined target. The studies should be aimed at evaluating how the chemical and radiopharmaceutical properties affect pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, or therapeutic efficacy. Ideally, the study would address the sensitivity of the probe to changes in disease or treatment, although studies validating mechanism alone are acceptable. Radiopharmacy practice, addressing the issues of preparation, automation, quality control, dispensing, and regulations applicable to qualification and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to humans, is an important aspect of the developmental process, but only if the study has a significant impact on the field.Contributions on the subject of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals also are appropriate provided that the specificity of labeled compound localization and therapeutic effect have been addressed. Supplemental information on the Aims and Scope can be found in the Jan issue of the Journal and at www.nucmedbio.com.

Nurse Education in Practice

ISSN: 1471-5953eISSN: 1873-5223

Nurse Education in Practice enables lecturers and practitioners to both share and disseminate evidence that demonstrates the actual practice of education as it is experienced in the realities of their respective work environments, that is both in the University/faculty and clinical settings. It is supportive of new authors and is at the forefront in publishing individual and collaborative papers that demonstrate the link between education and practice.Nursing is a discipline that is grounded in its practice origins - nurse educators utilise research-based evidence to promote good practice in education in all its fields. A strength of this journal is that it seeks to promote the development of a body of evidence to underpin the foundation of nurse education practice, as well as promoting and publishing education focused papers from other health care professions which have the same underpinning philosophy.Case studies and innovative developments that demonstrate how nursing and health care educators teach and facilitate learning, together with reflection and action that seeks to transform their professional practice will be promoted. The opportunity to stimulate debate is encouraged as is the promotion of evidence-based nursing education internationally.New sections:Learning and teaching in practicePapers which focus on nursing education in the clinical/practice environment, from clinical staff involved in the education of student nurses in practice, as well as educators involved in the development of the workforce through post-qualifying education and training initiatives, are welcomed. It is essential that, as in other areas of nursing education, the evidence-base to education in the clinical environment is developed, where student nurses learn to become nurses; and professional caring practitioners develop and maintain their own knowledge and skills in order to transform the way they develop and deliver quality care to their patients and clients. One field that this is especially visible is known as Practice Development.Midwifery EducationIn keeping with the overall aims and scope of the journal Nurse Education in Practice (NEP), the midwifery section focuses upon education at an international level. The editorial team wish to encourage submission of papers that relate to midwifery which demonstrate:• Innovation and development of education;• Creativity in teaching and learning strategies;• Advancement of practice-based education;• Collaborative education initiatives between women and midwives;• Delivery of education within the maternity services.Submit your paper online at http://ees.elsevier.com/nep.
