The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse
The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse is now published six times per year and provides an important and stimulating publication for the exchange of ideas between the diverse researchers examining the neurobiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of addictive disorders. The journal includes a wide range of translational research from preclinical through clinical aspects of substance use and addictive disorders. The Journal covers these topics with focused data presentations and authoritative reviews of timely developments in our field.Manuscripts in neurobiology may include molecular biology, cellular physiology, and human and animal pharmacology of abused drugs. Submissions in pathophysiology may include behavioral pharmacology, neuroimaging, and family-genetic studies of assessments, pharmacotherapies, behavioral therapies, large-scale treatment follow-up studies, and new modalities of care. INCREASING TO FIVE ISSUES AND NEW AIMS AND SCOPE IN 2011!The Asia Pacific Journal of Anthropology (TAPJA) is a leading refereed scholarly journal which publishes social and cultural anthropological research with a focus on the Asia and Pacific region, including Australia. This region has been a crucible for significant advances in the discipline and remains an important site for the development of concepts and debates. The international focus of the journal encompasses regional scholars and emerging voices from centres of research in the region. Contributions may include digital media files, including video, that are published in the online version. The Black Scholar
Launched in the USA in 1969 The Black Scholar (TBS) is the first modern black studies and research journal. It was founded on the premise that black writers, scholars, activists and artists could participate in dialogue within its pages. TBS' primary mission has been to chronicle, analyze and debate the conditions of and the emancipatory efforts by black people, against a multitude of oppressions that include and cross class, nationality, gender, generation, sexuality, and ideology. Due in part to the impact of the journal, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Diaspora Studies and other sub-disciplines have become legitimate spaces of scholarly inquiry. However there are few public intellectual spaces that focus on black thought, are dedicated to the new multiplicity of black perspectives (or perspectives on race) that have emerged through these disciplines, and engage with the new issues and concerns facing black communities worldwide. The Black Scholar is one of those spaces. Also, our rich mix of the scholarly and the artistic, the professional and the public/non-specialist, remains rare, as is our openness to different forms and techniques of political engagement.
Building on the journal’s initial vision, TBS aims to not only “unite the academy and the street” but also participate in a global black intellectual and cultural world that has multiple contexts and a range of materials and opinions far greater than when the journal was founded. The journal continues to engage and cultivate differential black political conversations and cultural interests (African American, African, European, Latin American, for example) while maintaining its core commitment to tough minded thinking and an overall liberationist intent. This means that we welcome submissions (in English and in translation) from anywhere in the world as long as they meet the criteria articulated on our website or in the journal.
Though TBS has always engaged issues of gender, a greater focus on sexuality is a part of our reimagining; and though the journal has always focused on race, class, power and culture, such debates have to be rendered contemporary. Of particular interest are submissions about the prison industrial complex, the current, often violent re-organization of the African continent, emerging sites and forms of struggle, new forms of popular culture and art throughout the black Diaspora, new migratory patterns, technology and social media, generational differences and sometimes quite radical distinctions in opinion and ideology. All disciplines and fields are welcome as long as they appreciate the unique opportunity the journal offers - to speak to others outside one’s area. But perhaps most important, we imagine ourselves as the forum for ideas and conversations that have yet to emerge.
All research articles in the journal will undergo a rigorous peer review based on initial editor evaluation and then at least two anonymous referees. Creative or public pieces will also undergo a rigorous evaluation, but by members of our intellectual community whose work and interests are comparable to those of the work submitted.The Cartographic Journal

1. Scientific research. TCN publishes research that is of interest to practicing clinicians, with the over-arching goal of contributing to advances in evidence-based practice. Original empirical research, meta-analyses/systematic reviews, and critical integrative reviews of clinically-relevant topics are considered. Of particular interest are studies pertaining to the following:
- neuropsychological, behavioral, and psychiatric manifestations of neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative, and neuropsychiatric conditions, and acquired brain disorders
- brain-behavior relationships, especially if pertaining to performance on clinical neuropsychological measures, or if pertaining to a specific disorder
- psychometrics and/or norms of clinical instruments
- forensic applications
- professional issues (e.g., credentialing, education and training, and ethics) and practice-related surveys
2. Professional discussions. TCN publishes both invited and unsolicited papers that contribute to the journal’s over-arching goal of establishing (and raising) standards of practice. These include the following:
- practice guidelines, consensus statements, and position papers that guide clinicians and clinical educators
- invited opinions, commentaries, or discussions
- book reviews (solicited by the Book Review section editor)
3. Case studies. The Grand Rounds in Clinical Neuropsychology section of the journal is devoted to single case study presentations of interesting, timely, important, or unusual cases. Cases should be instructive and focus on the contributions that competent neuropsychological assessment make in terms of (a) elucidating brain-behavior relationships, (b) determining the functional status of patients, and (c) instructing intervention, treatment, rehabilitation, education, etc. Essential elements of a case study submission include the following:
- a well-documented history of the patient
- medical/neurologic/psychiatric findings, and neuroimaging (preferred, but not required )
- detailed results of neuropsychological evaluation
- discussion of differential diagnosis and relevent treatment/management considerations
An additional online forum, in the form of an annual online supplement, aims to provide an outlet for narrow interest sound practice research that may only be of benefit to clinicians whose services are provided in the context of other languages or cultures. As a service to readers, select articles in each issue are available for CE credits, which are provided under the auspices of AACN via its website.
TCN and the AACN jointly sponsor a yearly competition for the best scholarly manuscript based on a student project. The winner will be announced at the AACN annual meeting (starting in 2016). The first-prize winner will receive a $1000 monetary award, and two runner-ups will receive $500 each. Read more on the Student Project Competition.

The Communication Review seeks a synthesis of concerns traditional to the fields of communication and media studies. The journal's heuristic division of the field into three analytical perspectives provides a natural structure for creating new knowledge across conventional disciplinary boundaries:Communication and Culture, probing the questions of producing meaning and interpretation by way of analyzing culture through the visual and dramatic arts, literature, sociology, anthropology, and in the interdisciplinary tradition of cultural studies.Communication as a Social Force, focusing on the historical development and contemporary transformation of media and communication, telecommunications, and information systems, emphasizing their political-economic, technological, and institutional dynamics.Communication and Mind, examining the individual socially constituted through language and other media in their cultural, social, and economic contexts.The editors view these as different theoretical perspectives on the study of communication processes.
