Journal Guide

AERA Open is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by the American Educational Research Association (AERA). With an emphasis on rapid review and dissemination, AERA Open aims to advance knowledge through theoretical and empirical study across arenas of inquiry related to education and learning. AERA Open will publish important cumulative and incremental research. It also aims to publish at the cutting edge, serving as a forum for innovation, new inquiry and ideas, interdisciplinary bridge building, and work that fosters the connection of research to policy and practice.

Behavioural Neurology publishes original experimental papers and case reports dealing with disordered human behaviour and exceptional animal studies that have direct implications for understanding human behaviour or neural mechanisms of cognition. These embrace the field of cognitive neurology, biological psychiatry, neuropsychology, rehabilitation, and cognitive neuroscience. The emphasis of the approach is on lesion and imaging studies that explore abnormal human cognition and behaviour. The journal embraces matters of interest to clinicians, such as behavioural neurologists and neuropsychiatrists, and cognitive neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, neuropathologists, neurochemists, therapists, psychopharmacologists and metabolic scientists with a special interest in human neurological disorders. All papers are refereed. Reviews of an area of the literature, and commentaries in areas of current interest, will also be considered for publication. Reviews and commentaries in areas outside behavioural neurology, but of interest and importance to behavioural neurologists, will also be considered. A Clinical Notes section has been added for brief reports of clinical observations that may have important implications for understanding cognitive disorders. Behavioural Neurology also publishes Book Reviews and Short Communications.

The Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology publishes work advancing knowledge of the mechanisms responsible for both normal and diseased cardiovascular function. To this end papers are published in all relevant areas. These include (but are not limited to): structural biology; genetics; proteomics; morphology; stem cells; molecular biology; metabolism; biophysics; electrophysiology; pharmacology and physiology. Papers are encouraged with both basic and translational approaches. Medical Microbiology and Immunology covers all aspects of the interrelationship between infectious agents and their hosts. Among the major topics covered are microbial and viral pathogenesis and the immunological host response to infections. The journal also publishes information from other fields of microbiology, including mycology and parasitology.

C. elegans RDE-4 is a double-stranded RNA binding protein that has been shown to play a key role in response to foreign double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). We have used diverse tools for analysis of gene function to characterize the domain and organismal foci of RDE-4 action in C. elegans. First, we examined the focus of activity within the RDE-4 protein, by testing a series of RDE-4 deletion constructs for their ability to support dsRNA-triggered gene silencing. These assays indicated a molecular requirement for a linker region and the second dsRNA-binding domain of RDE-4, with ancillary contributions to function from the C and N terminal domains. The purpose of the Society is to promote study of the theory and practice of rhetoric in all periods and languages. The Society fosters inquiry into the relationship of rhetoric to poetics, literary theory and criticism, philosophy, politics, religion, law, and other aspects of the cultural context.
