The journal is intended to be a forum for an interdisciplinary discussion on trauma, blending science, theory, practice, and policy.The journal publishes empirical research on a wide range of trauma-related topics, including Psychological treatments and effects Promotion of education about effects of and treatment for trauma Assessment and diagnosis of trauma Pathophysiology of trauma reactions Health services (delivery of services to trauma populations) Epidemiological studies and risk factor studies Neuroimaging studies Trauma and cultural competenceThe journal publishes articles that use experimental and correlational methods and qualitative analyses, if applicable.All research reports should reflect methodologically rigorous designs that aim to significantly enhance the field's understanding of trauma. Such reports should be based on good theoretical foundations and integrate theory and data. Manuscripts should be of sufficient length to ensure theoretical and methodological competence.

Psychopathology is a record of research centered on findings, concepts, and diagnostic categories of phenomenological, experimental, and clinical psychopathology. Studies published are designed to improve and deepen the knowledge and understanding of the pathogenesis and nature of psychopathological symptoms and psychological dysfunctions. Furthermore, the validity of concepts applied in the neurosciences of mental functions is evaluated in order to closely bring together mind and brain. Major topics of the journal are trajectories between biological processes and psychological dysfunction that can help us better understand a subject’s inner experiences and interpersonal behavior. Phenomenological and experimental psychopathology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience as well as developmental psychopathology and youth mental health contribute to this field.

Autism Spectrum Disorders are problems of social skills, empathy, and effective use of language for communication. Many challenges exist to better identify and treat the range of symptoms these persons display. These issues are compounded by the fact that upwards of 70% of these individuals have an intellectual disability and many also evince challenging behaviors such as self-injury and/or aggression, and comorbid mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety disorders. Furthermore, while great advances are being made with young children with the potential for even greater gains, little is known about assessment or intervention with teenagers and adults.Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders (RASD) will publish high quality empirical articles and reviews with a primary focus on applied topics. These areas will include but not be limited to diagnosis, incidence and prevalence, methods of evaluating treatment effects, educational, pharmacological, and psychological interventions across the life span. Research In Developmental Disabilities is aimed at publishing original research of an interdisciplinary nature that has a direct bearing on the remediation of problems associated with developmental disabilities. Manuscripts will be solicited throughout the world. Articles will be primarily empirical studies, although an occasional position paper or review will be accepted. The aim of the journal will be to publish articles on all aspects of research with the developmentally disabled, with any methodologically sound approach being acceptable. A list of topics areas that is illustrative but not inclusive is applied behavior analysis, pharmacotherapy, traditional assessment, behavioral assessment, speech training and occupational therapy.
