Acta Psychologica publishes original articles and extended reviews on selected books in any area of experimental psychology. The focus of the Journal is on empirical studies and evaluative review articles that increase the theoretical understanding of human capabilities. The majority of papers deal with human performance, attention, perception, memory, and decision-making but papers concerned with social processes, development, psychopathology, neuroscience or computational modelling are also welcome provided that they are of direct importance to experimental psychologists and are written so as to be understandable to such a readership.The journal publishes occasional special issues devoted to single topics which merit particular attention. Adaptive Behavior is a highly ranked, international peer reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles on adaptive behavior in living organisms and autonomous artificial systems.For over 17 years it has offered ethologists, psychologists, behavioral ecologists, computer scientists, neuroscientists and robotics researchers a forum for discussing new findings and comparing insights and approaches across disciplines. The journal explores mechanisms, organizational principles, and architectures that can be expressed in computational, physical, or mathematical models related to the both the functions and dysfunctions of adaptive behavior.The journal publishes articles, reviews, short communications, target articles and commentaries addressing challenges in the cognitive and behavioral sciences and including topics such as perception and motor control, embodied cognition, learning and evolution, neural mechanisms, action selection and behavioral sequences, motivation and emotion, characterization of environments, decision making, collective and social behavior, navigation, foraging, communication and signalling.

SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS: Cognitive and Motivational Mechanisms Compensating for the Limitations in Performance on Complex Cognitive Tasks across the Adult Life-SpanThe purposes of Aging, Neuropsychology, and Cognition are to (a) publish research on both the normal and dysfunctional aspects of cognitive development in adulthood and aging, and (b) promote the integration of theories, methods, and research findings between the fields of cognitive gerontology and neuropsychology.The primary emphasis of the journal is to publish original empirical research. Occasionally, theoretical or methodological papers, critical reviews of a content area, or theoretically relevant case studies will also be published. Emphases of interest include information processing mechanisms, intellectual abilities, the impact of injury or disease on performance, cognitive training, cognitive and pharmacological approaches to treatment and rehabilitation, metacognition, and the social and personal aspects of cognitive functioning.Articles on both normal and dysfunctional development that are relevant to the interface between cognitive gerontology and neuropsychology are particularly welcome. Animal Cognition is an interdisciplinary journal offering current research from many disciplines (ethology, behavioral ecology, animal behavior and learning, cognitive sciences, comparative psychology and evolutionary psychology) on all aspects of animal (and human) cognition in an evolutionary framework. Animal Cognition publishes original empirical and theoretical work, reviews, short communications and correspondence on the mechanisms and evolution of biologically rooted cognitive-intellectual structures. The journal explores animal time perception and use; causality detection; innate reaction patterns and innate bases of learning; numerical competence and frequency expectancies; symbol use; communication; problem solving, animal thinking and use of tools, and the modularity of the mind.

Applied Cognitive Psychology seeks to publish the best papers dealing with psychological analyses of memory, learning, thinking, problem solving, language, and consciousness as they occur in real world contexts. Applied Cognitive Psychology focuses on studies of human performance and basic cognitive skills in everyday environments. Particular emphases include studies of autobiographical memory, lifespan memory development, detecting truth and deception, eyewitness memory and memory reliability, as well as cognitive perspectives on consumer behaviour, health and education. Articles will normally combine rigorous investigations of real world events with appropriate theoretical analyses and proper appraisal of practical implications. While empirical research remains the primary focus of the journal, Applied Cognitive Psychology also publishes theoretical articles and reviews. The journal Attention, Perception, & Psychophysics is an official journal of the Psychonomic Society.   It spans all areas of research in sensory processes, perception, attention, and psychophysics. Most articles published are reports of experimental work; the journal also presents theoretical, integrative, and evaluative reviews. Commentary on issues of importance to researchers appears in a special section of the journal. Founded in 1966 as Perception & Psychophysics, the journal assumed its present name in 2009.

Behavior Research Methods publishes articles concerned with the methods, techniques, and instrumentation of research in experimental psychology. The journal focuses particularly on the use of computer technology in psychological research. An annual special issue is devoted to this field.

Behaviour Research and Therapy encompasses all of what is commonly referred to as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). The focus is on the following: theoretical and experimental analyses of psychopathological processes with direct implications for prevention and treatment; the development and evaluation of empirically-supported interventions; predictors, moderators and mechanisms of behaviour change; and dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments to general clinical practice. In addition to traditional clinical disorders, the scope of the journal also includes behavioural medicine. The focus of the journal is on the integration of many research efforts in addressing the challenge of creating a real-life computational equivalent of the human mind. Therefore, the journal publishes on the multidisciplinary study of cognitive architectures found in vivo and in silico.To help foster a wider understanding, at a computational level, of how natural intelligent systems develop their cognitive, metacognitive, and learning functions, the journal will promote the overarching goal of creating one unifying widespread framework for the computational modeling of biologically inspired cognitive architectures.The scope includes (but is not limited to):Cognitive science, with a focus on higher cognitive functions and their cognitive architecture models: including autonomous cognition and metacognition, imagery, sensemaking, meta-learning, self-regulated learning, life-long learning and cognitive growth, "critical mass" of a learner, models of creativity, affects, emotions and feelings, emotional competence, social cognition, the self, human-like episodic memory, language perception, processing, production, acquisition, and development;Computer science and engineering, with a focus on human-like artificial intelligence: cognitive architectures, virtual and physical cognitive robotics, synthetic characters, bootstrapped and human-like learning, human-computer interface, vision, computational linguistics, intelligent tutoring systems;Neuroscience, with a focus on higher cognition and learning: system-level computational neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, models of the neural substrates of semantic and episodic memory and awareness, agency, emotions and feelings, theory of mind and social cognition, language, imagery, voluntary control, goal and value systems, spatial cognition, etc.Contributions to the journal should include a cognitive architecture element and an element of biological inspiration, the latter understood broadly (e.g., inspiration by the human cognition). Both mature and new cutting edge research are welcomed, provided they have a strong emphasis on concrete empirical or theoretical studies. Submissions of a purely philosophical nature are discouraged and will be redirected elsewhere.

Brain and Cognition is a forum for the integration of the neurosciences and cognitive sciences. B&C publishes peer-reviewed research articles, theoretical papers, case histories that address important theoretical issues, and historical articles into the interaction between cognitive function and brain processes. The focus is on rigorous studies of an empirical or theoretical nature and which make an original contribution to our knowledge about the involvement of the nervous system in cognition. Coverage includes, but is not limited to memory, learning, emotion, perception, movement, music or praxis in relationship to brain structure or function. Published articles will typically address issues relating some aspect of cognitive function to its neurological substrates with clear theoretical import, formulating new hypotheses or refuting previously established hypotheses. Clinical papers are welcome if they raise issues of theoretical importance or concern and shed light on the interaction between brain function and cognitive function. We welcome review articles that clearly contribute a new perspective or integration, beyond summarizing the literature in the field; authors of review articles should make explicit where the contribution lies. We also welcome proposals for special issues on aspects of the relation between cognition and the structure and function of the nervous system. The Canadian Journal of Experimental Psychology publishes original research papers that advance understanding of the field of experimental psychology, broadly considered. This includes, but is not restricted to, cognition, perception, motor performance, attention, memory, learning, language, decision making, development, comparative psychology, and neuroscience.The journal publishes papers reporting empirical results that advance knowledge in a particular research area; papers describing theoretical, methodological, or conceptual advances that are relevant to the interpretation of empirical evidence in the field; brief reports (less than 2,500 words for the main text) that describe new results or analyses with clear theoretical or methodological import.Occasionally, the Journal publishes book reviews judged to be of broad interest to the experimental psychology research community.
