It aims to focus on psychiatric research pertinent to Asia produced either within or from outside the continent. The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine focuses on human biology and disease, as well as animal studies that contribute to the understanding of pathophysiology and treatment of diseases that affect the respiratory system and critically ill patients. Papers that are solely or predominantly based in cell and molecular biology are published in the companion journal, the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. The Journal also seeks to publish outstanding review articles on areas of interest in several forms. The State-of-the-Art review is a treatise usually covering a broad field that brings bench research to the bedside. Shorter reviews are published as Clinical Commentaries or Pulmonary Perspectives. These are generally focused in a more limited area and advance a concerted opinion about care for a specific process. Case Reports of exceptional merit are also published in the Journal.A recent trend and future direction of the journal has been to include debates of a topical nature on issues of importance in pulmonary and critical care medicine and to the membership of the American Thoracic Society. Other recent changes have included encompassing works from the field of critical care medicine and the extension of the editorial governing of journal policy to colleagues outside of the United States of America. The journal is devoted to the problems of general linguistics. Its aim is to present work of current interest in all areas of linguistics. Contributions are required to contain such general theoretical implications as to be of interest to any linguist, whatever their own specialisation.No particular linguistic theories or scientific trends are favoured: scientific quality and scholarly standing are the only criteria applied in the selection of papers accepted for publication.Lingua publishes papers of any length, if justified, as well as review articles surveying developments in the various fields of linguistics, and occasional discussions. A considerable number of pages in each issue are devoted to critical book reviews. Lingua also publishes Lingua Franca articles consisting of provocative exchanges expressing strong opinions on central topics in linguistics; The Decade In articles which are educational articles offering the nonspecialist linguist an overview of a given area of study; and Taking up the Gauntlet special issues composed of a set number of papers examining one set of data and exploring whose theory offers the most insight with a minimal set of assumptions and a maximum of arguments. Lingua also publishes themed special issues and has the facility to publish supplementary material online, for example, audio and video files.

Original research articles, early reports, review articles, commentaries and editorials covering the prevention, epidemiology and etiology, basic biology, pathology, clinical assessment, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, combined treatment modalities, other treatment modalities and outcomes of lung cancer are all welcome. Letters to the journals are also welcomed although authors should be aware that the majority will be published online only. Early reports should briefly describe the initial results of a research topic and will be expedited through peer-review.

Manuscripts describing studies on cell lines will only be considered if the data compares at least two types of distinct cell lines and the results have general implications on the understanding of the biology of chest tumours. Authors of studies on cell lines must also agree to make freely available to other researchers any of the cells, clones of cells, or DNA or antibodies, etc, that were used in the research reported and that are not available from commercial suppliers.
