In recent years, there has been an exponential growth of interest in the study and practice of human rights. The cultural discourse of human rights has become increasingly globalized and now serves as the basis for legal and normative frameworks and social relations in a variety of geographical, social, and cultural settings. In addition, new social organizations and forms of political action are grounded in the idea of human rights. Scholarship on key issues in human rights has also burgeoned and includes scholars from a wide range of perspectives and disciplines.The Journal of Human Rights serves as an arena for the public discussion and scholarly analysis of human rights, broadly conceived. It seeks to broaden the study of human rights by fostering the critical re-examination of existing approaches to human rights, as well as to develop new perspectives on the theory and practice of human rights. The journal provides the opportunity for the critical examination of the human rights community and of the different visions of human rights and different practical strategies which exist within that community. The editor welcomes papers from scholars and disciplines traditionally associated with the study of human rights, as well as papers from those in other disciplines or fields of inquiry which have traditionally been underrepresented in the field of human rights. The Journal of Human Rights is committed to theoretical and ideological diversity in the study of human rights. The Pacific Economic Review (PER) publishes high-quality articles in all areas of economics, both the theoretical and empirical, and welcomes in particular analyses of economic issues in the Asia-Pacific area. Published five times a year from 2007, the journal is of interest to academic, government and corporate economists. The Pacific Economic Review is the official publication of the Hong Kong Economic Association and has a strong editorial team and international board of editors. The October issue, edited and published with sponsorship from National Taiwan University, focuses on economic policies, particularly those related to the Taiwanese economy, the Chinese economy, and cross-strait relations. Both theoretical and empirical research papers are welcome. For over sixty-five years, the Review of Social Economy has published high-quality peer-reviewed work on the many relationships between social values and economics. The field of social economics discusses how the economy and social justice relate, and what this implies for economic theory and policy. Papers published range from conceptual work on aligning economic institutions and policies with given ethical principles, to theoretical representations of individual behaviour that allow for both self-interested and 'pro-social' motives, and to original empirical work on persistent social issues such as poverty, inequality, and discrimination. In promoting discourse on social-economic themes, and unifying and invigorating scholarship around them, the journal is centrally concerned with these core research areas.
