Patterns of Prejudice

Patterns of Prejudice provides a forum for exploring the historical roots and contemporary varieties of social exclusion and the demonization or stigmatisation of the Other. It probes the language and construction of 'race', nation, colour, and ethnicity, as well as the linkages between these categories. It encourages discussion of issues at the top of the public policy agenda, such as asylum, immigration, hate crimes and citizenship. As none of these issues are confined to any one region, Patterns of Prejudice maintains a global optic, at the same time as scrutinizing intensely the history and development of intolerance and chauvinism in the United States and Europe, both East and West. The aim of Rethinking Marxism is to stimulate interest in and debate over the explanatory power and social consequences of Marxian economic, cultural, and social analysis. To that end, we publish studies that seek to discuss, elaborate, and/or extend Marxian theory. Our concerns include theoretical and philosophical (methodological and epistemological) matters as well as more concrete empirical analyses - all work that leads to the further development of distinctively Marxian discourses. We encourage contributions from people in many disciplines and from a wide range of perspectives. We are also interested in expanding the diversity of styles for producing and presenting Marxian discourses.One distinguishing aim of this journal is to ensure that class is an important part, but not the exclusive focus, of Marxism. We are therefore interested in the complex intersection of class with economic, political, psychological, and all other social processes. Equally important is the task of exploring the philosophical positions that shape Marxian analyses.We are interested in promoting Marxian approaches to social theory because we believe that they can and should play an important role in developing strategies for radical social change-in particular, for an end to class exploitation and the various forms of political, cultural, and psychological oppression (including oppression on the basis of race, gender, and sexual orientation). South Asian History and Culture offers a forum that will provide an integrated perspective on the field at large. The journal aims to bring together research on South Asia in the humanities and social sciences, and to provide scholars with a platform covering, but not restricted to, their particular fields of interest and specialization. Such an approach is critical to any expanding field of study, for the development of more informed and broader perspectives, and of more overarching theoretical conceptions. Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy publishes research that is related to chemistry, pharmacy and sustainability science in a forward oriented manner. It provides a unique forum for the publication of innovative research on the intersection of chemistry and pharmacy on the one hand and sustainability on the other hand. This includes contributions related to increasing sustainability of chemistry and pharmaceutical science and industries as well as increasing the sustainability along the life cycle of chemical and pharmaceutical products from resource related issues to the end of life of products. As an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary journal it accepts also contributions from humanities, social science, jurisprudence and economics as far as they are dealing with sustainability and are related to chemistry and pharmacy.

Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy is an international journal suitable for the publication of original communications as well as review articles. In this it has a wide general appeal and accepts the full spectrum of high quality manuscripts from short communications to extended research papers as well as review articles. Papers describing new concepts or contributing to a better understanding of concepts related to sustainable chemistry and pharmacy are highly welcome. Papers should be of originality, novelty and uniqueness. A short communication should present a novel finding that warrants immediate publication.

All manuscripts must be written so as to be widely accessible and understandable to interdisciplinary and trans disciplinary oriented readers without neglecting the disciplinary excellence and clearness.

Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy does not publish research associated with 'end-of-pipe' or remediation issues, if they are not clearly related to sustainability.

North Africa has rarely been treated as a cohesive area of study, even though historical and social links have always been strong, with most of its constituent countries having been part of the Ottoman empire. In part this has been because of its colonial past, with Egypt and Sudan having been under British control, Libya being first occupied by Italy, then administered by Britain and France; whilst the maghrib states of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania belonged to the French colonial empire, with a Spanish presence in parts of Morocco and the Western Sahara. Today, however, the countries concerned increasingly share a common destiny.The Journal of North African Studies is a forum for scholars of and from the region.
