International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology

ISSN: 1350-4509eISSN: 1745-2627

The International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology is now over fifteen years old and has proved to be an exciting forum for understanding and advancing our knowledge and implementation of sustainable development. Sustainable development is now of primary importance as the key to future use and management of finite world resources. It recognises the need for development opportunities while maintaining a balance between these and the environment. As stated by the UN Bruntland Commission in 1987, sustainable development should 'meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.' This is the primary focus of the journal, and is addressed by papers in environmental sustainability, economic sustainability, and/or social and cultural sustainability. Environmental sustainability includes mitigating effects of climate change, minimising environmental degradation, and sustainable land management. Economic sustainability includes capacity-building, integrated decision making, industry and biotechnology, consumption and production. Social and cultural sustainability includes demographics, human settlements, international law, health and welfare. These three subject areas encompass the scope of the journal. They can be considered empirically, through case studies, as reviews, commentaries, rapid communications, or integrated studies in special issues of the journal. The journal is interdisciplinary and aims to examine topical and important issues and so provide stimulating and, at times, controversial reading. Our worldwide readership includes: * researchers, consultants, scientists and engineers * industry, business managers and policy makers * government (central and local) and non-governmental organisations Preparation of manuscripts should be in accordance with the Instructions for Authors. eISSN: 2352-1465

What is the Transportation Research Procedia?
The Transportation Research Procedia is an open access product focusing entirely on publishing full sets of conference proceedings, enabling fast, world-wide dissemination so that conference delegates can publish their papers in a dedicated online issue on ScienceDirect.

The Transportation Research Procedia will publish papers from conferences with an emphasis in any area of transportation research. Conferences should be relevant to an international audience and cover timely topics.

Peer-review is under the responsibility of the conference organizers who according to the international peer-review standards may use single blind, double blind or open peer review. For details specific to the conference peer-review process, please contact the conference organizer or the guest editor of the conference.

For authors publishing in Transportation Research Procedia, accepted manuscript will be governed by CC BY-NC-ND. For further details see our http://www.elsevier.com/about/open-access/open-access-policies/oa-license-policycopyright information.

How are conferences evaluated for inclusion in the Transportation Research Procedia? Conference proceedings are accepted for publication in the Transportation Research Procedia based on suitability of scope and are required to meet certain quality and ethical criteria, including the assurance that all papers are original work by the authors, will be subject to peer review and that the same paper will not be published elsewhere. Elsevier, the Advisory Editor and the editorial board will evaluate all proposals on the bases of key information related to the conference provided by the organizers, including, but not limited to, the conference website, programme, supporting organization and contact details of the committee and keynote speakers. Elsevier may make contact with members of the committee and keynote speakers to obtain further information about the conference during the evaluation process.

What does the Transportation Research Procedia offer authors and conference organizers?
The Transportation Research Procedia offers a high quality, well respected, global platform for conference papers to be hosted and accessed by an audience of millions of researchers. The Transportation Research Procedia offers authors and conference organizers a fast and cost effective way to provide maximum exposure for their proceedings papers.

Templates (both LateX and Word) are provided to assist in the publication and the final online papers contain linked references, XML versions and DOI numbers. The Transportation Research Procedia does not have, and is not eligible for, an Impact Factor as it does not publish primary research, full length, peer reviewed articles.

Why should conference organizers choose Transportation Research Procedia for their proceedings papers?
There is no limit to the amount of papers a Transportation Research Procedia issue can contain and pricing is affordable, clear and transparent. Transportation Research Procedia offers immediate access for all, with papers online within 8 weeks of submission to the Publisher, and open access for end users providing maximum exposure for individual papers and the related conference. Organizers are credited on the actual issue and are fully responsible for quality control and the review process.

What are the costs associated with the Transportation Research Procedia?
There is an agreed fee, payable by the conference organizer, based on the number of papers included in the proceedings. This fee is kept to a minimum and is charged to cover the costs of preparing and publishing the volume, hosting it online, ensuring future accessibility on ScienceDirect and providing free access to all readers. A quote for costs will be provided upon receipt of a completed proposal form and based on the information provided - see below.

In addition to the online version there is the possibility, for an additional fee, to request paper copies, CD-ROMs and USB sticks. Moreover, interactive media possibilities such as webcasts and web seminars can be acquired for extra exposure both before and after the conference.

Journal of World Languages

ISSN: 2169-8252eISSN: 2169-8260
DOAJ Logo
The  Journal of World Languages explores the linguistic, communicative and socio-cultural implications of the global spread of major languages and the impact this is having on the world’s linguistic mapping.  Recognizing that the phenomenon of becoming a world language encompasses a growing number of languages with significant implications for the development of these languages, the  Journal of World Languages encourages a comparative approach to the study of the roles of education, the media, the economy, etc.  in contributing to the growth of a world language.

The Journal of World Languages welcomes papers on topics addressing questions such as those listed below:

  • What is a "world language": international? global? Or are these different?
  • How does being a world language impact on local identities, whether ethnic, national, or socio-economic?
  • What is the effect of language technology on the process?
  • What is the effect of the worldwide growth of a language on the writing system, and the distance between speech and writing?
  • What is the effect of world language on multimodal communication?
  • What is the role of language planning:
    (i) systemic: reform of script, regulation of grammar or vocabulary;
    (ii) institutional: language education policy?
  • What are typical speakers' (users') attitudes to the phenomenon:
    (i) L1 (i.e., native speakers of a world language);
    (ii) L2 (i.e., non-native speakers of a world language)?
  • What variation is associated with growth towards "world language" status:
    (i) Dialectal, i.e., user-based variation?
(ii) Diatypic, i.e., use-based variation (such as register)?
  • What are the implications of the "world language" phenomenon for a general linguistic theory?

The  Journal of World Languages is a cross-disciplinary journal whose coverage of the effects of globalization on languages extends coverage to all world languages.

Agricultural Systems

ISSN: 0308-521XeISSN: 1873-2267

Agricultural Systems is an international journal that deals with interactions - among the components of agricultural systems, among hierarchical levels of agricultural systems, between agricultural and other land use systems, and between agricultural systems and their natural and social environments. In particular, its aim is to encourage integration of knowledge among those disciplines that underpin agriculture. Many contributions will therefore be multi- or inter-disciplinary. Papers generally focus on either methodological approaches to understanding and managing interactions within or among agricultural systems, or the application of holistic or quantitative systems approaches to a range of problems within agricultural systems and their interactions with other systems. Because of the nature of the readership of Agricultural Systems, the contents of papers should be easily accessible (properly introduced, presented and discussed) to readers from a wide range of disciplines. The scope includes the development and application of systems methodology, including system modeling, simulation and optimization; ecoregional analysis of agriculture and land use; studies on natural resource issues related to agriculture; impact and scenario analyses related to topics such as GMOs, multifunctional land use and global change; and the development and application of decision and discussion support systems; approaches to analyzing and improving farming systems; technology transfer in tropical and temperate agriculture; and the relationship between agricultural development issues and policy. The journal publishes original scientific papers, short communications, review articles and book reviews. Review articles and book reviews should only be submitted after consultation or invitation from either an Editor or the Book Review Editor, respectively. Please bookmark this page as: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/agsyFor more information/suggestions/comments please contact AuthorSupport@elsevier.com

Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety

eISSN: 1541-4337

Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety (CRFSFS) is one of the peer-reviewed on-line journals of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). It has been published quarterly since 2002 (www.ift.org). Review papers provide in-depth coverage of a narrowly defined topic on any food science or food safety aspect, including nutrition, engineering, microbiology, sensory evaluation, physiology, genetics, economics, regulations, and history. A typical review embodies careful assessment of all pertinent studies (weaknesses, strengths, discrepancies in findings) so that insightful, integrative interpretations, summaries, and conclusions are presented. For either an unsolicited or an invited manuscript authors should submit to the Scientific Editor a suitable title, a brief outline, and a short statement describing the importance of the topic and how the presentation will advance food science and food technology. AIM of IFT Peer-Reviewed Publications The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the professional society of food science and technology, is committed to the continued improvement and accessibility of its peer-reviewed journals. Collectively, the IFT believes that peer-reviewed journals must have a high priority in any scientific society, and specifically for IFT in order for the society to remain a credible source of science-based information. IFT publishes scientific journals to provide its members and the larger scientific community with scientific information that is important and of current interest. This is done in accord with the highest standards of professional ethics. Research papers serve to convey the results of original work that has a clear relationship to human foods or the teaching of food science. Review papers serve to convey in-depth interpretive coverage of topics of current importance. Acceptability of articles for publication is carefully considered, with quality of the science, appropriateness, and importance weighing heavily in the final decision.
