Journal Guide

The Journal of Spanish Language Teaching is a new peer-reviewed journal that provides an international forum for innovative research, methods, materials and theories on the teaching and learning of Spanish as a foreign language. The Journal's main purpose is to create a dialogue between researchers and practitioners worldwide in order to enrich a discipline that is experiencing tremendous growth. The Journal invites contributions from researchers working on topics related to the teaching and learning of the Spanish language at any educational level and in any setting.

The Journal will publish original research papers as well as book reviews. Periodically, it will also consider monographic issues and critical surveys of recent research related to a specific sub-discipline or geographical area. A thorough peer review process will be applied to both commissioned and unsolicited articles. The Journal of Spanish Language Teaching will constitute an essential journal of reference in the field. There is currently no other academic publication dedicated solely to the teaching and learning of Spanish, which exists in both print and electronic formats, and is global in its reach. Targeted at both academics and practitioners, the Journal aims to have a major impact on the discipline.

Some of the areas especially relevant to the Journal's objectives are:

Advances in Eating Disorders: Theory, Research, & Practice is committed to providing a leading forum dedicated to the study and treatment of eating disorders by publishing high quality articles that offer an integrated perspective to these complex conditions. 
The journal covers all the traditional eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder, but also any form of disturbed eating behaviour, across the life span and in all cultural contexts. The specific and unique emphasis of this journal is its focus on combining theory, research and practice. Submissions should draw on at least two of these aspects, but preferably make reference to all three, either through their primary focus, or through the inclusion of a section specifically focusing on the integration. 
The Editors also encourage submission of commentary, debate and personal viewpoints.

Peer Review Integrity

Content: Military Psychology is the quarterly journal of Division 19 (Society for Military Psychology) of the American Psychological Association. The journal seeks to facilitate the scientific development of military psychology by encouraging communication between researchers and practitioners. The domain of military psychology is the conduct of research or practice of psychological principles within a military environment. The journal publishes behavioral science research articles having military applications in the areas of clinical and health psychology, training and human factors, manpower and personnel, social and organizational systems, and testing and measurement. Topics of major concern to military psychology will be covered in special journal issues. Military Psychology is international in scope, and the editors encourage submission of articles that address research being carried out in a variety of national settings. Contributions will be considered for publication in the following categories: Research Articles: Reports of empirical research. Notes: Brief articles describing work that is largely confirmatory, advances in knowledge arising as by-products of broader studies, or new research techniques and methodologies. Reviews: Scholarly integrations of individual areas of empirical research. Communications: Information on policies and trends that affect the support and direction of research in military psychology. Clinical Practice: Case studies, theoretical articles, program development evaluations, and research articles of direct application for military psychologists in clinical settings. Comments and Letters to the Editor will be published on a space-available basis. Peer Review Policy: Once a manuscript is processed it is assigned a manuscript control number and given to an Action Editor (one of the Associate Editors) for editorial oversight. The Action Editor will oversee the review process, obtain review from two subject matter experts, compile reviewer comments and prepare an editorial recommendation for the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief processes the editorial recommendation, makes a final decision and communicates with the author(s). Applied Mobilities publishes theoretically informed, applied research and practice-orientated perspectives in mobilities. It focuses on the planning, design, technologies and social and cultural applications of mobilities. Through an emphasis on social theory and planning practice it also seeks to develop a greater understanding of the transition of mobility systems towards sustainable practices and the consequences of diverse mobilities on societies. 

It publishes original research articles, practice based commentaries and reviews.

Applied Mobilities publishes articles of international scope that meets one or more of the following areas of publication:
- Interdisciplinary research in planning, design, technology and culture relating to mobilities.
- Theory driven applied research emphasizing the social, cultural, economic and environmental aspects of mobilities.
- Development of the interdisciplinarity of mobilities research by bridging social science, art and practice.  

Commentaries
This section of Applied Mobilities invites practitioners and/or scholars to develop to introduce and reflect upon new themes and debates that are relevant to mobilities thinking, research and practice. Such innovative perspectives aim to increase the impact of research on the re-thinking of mobilities and help to develop political and societal strategies to understand the social, ecological and economic consequences of diverse mobilities on societies.

Case studies or interviews which reflect on the impact that mobilities research has had on practice, planning or policy.

Case studies or interviews which reflect upon current practical intervention(s) in mobilities.

Applied Mobilities publishes thematic book reviews on key topics in the field.  The selection of books for review is intended to reflect their potential impact on further research within the overall scope of the journal.

Peer Review Statement
All submissions will be subject to double-blind peer review by up to three referees.

The Atlantic Economic Journal (AEJ) has an international reputation for excellent articles in all interest areas, without regard to fields or methodological preferences. Founded in 1973 by the International Atlantic Economic Society, a need was identified for increased communication among scholars from different countries. For over 30 years, the AEJ has continuously sought articles that traced some of the most critical economic changes and developments to occur on the global level. The journal's goal is to facilitate and synthesize economic research across nations to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas and scholarly research. Contributors include some of the world's most respected economists and financial specialists, including Nobel laureates and leading government officials. AEJ welcomes both theoretical and empirical articles, as well as public policy papers. All manuscripts are submitted to a double-blind, peer review process.In addition to formal publication of full-length articles, the AEJ provides an opportunity for less formal communication through its Anthology section. A small point may not be worthy of a full-length, formal paper but is important enough to warrant dissemination to other researchers. Research in progress may be of interest to other scholars in the field. A research approach ending in negative results needs to be shared to save others similar pitfalls. The Anthology section has been established to facilitate these forms of communication. Anthologies provide a means by which short manuscripts of less than 500 words can quickly appear in the AEJ. All submissions are formally reviewed by the Board of Editors.The Book Review Article section of the journal does not publish standard book reviews. Instead, full-length book review articles are published that are refereed and meet high publication standards. International Critical Thought aims to cultivate, encourage and facilitate the development and dissemination of thinking and scholarship responding to the profound social, political, cultural and economic changes taking place in the world today. It aims:

1. To provide a multi-disciplinary forum for reflection on and insight to the major problems facing humanity (energy, environment, poverty, war, etc.), where living and breathing contemporary experiences can be processed into works of theoretical depth and scholarly rigor.
2. To build a global forum for dialogue among various social currents, as an attempt to better integrate different perspectives and reconcile different needs and interests.
3. To emphasize the position of developing countries and bring attention to the practical, theoretical and methodological efforts made within non-Western contexts, in view of the fact that the future of human development requires cultural diversity to counterbalance the linear evolutionism characteristic of most modern Western theories.
4. To highlight the case of China, which, with its stunning economic development and social transformation, has challenged old wisdom of development while leaving profound questions to be answered with respect to its own future as well as its role in a world of economic, ecological, and to a great extent, political crises.

The International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine is a peer-reviewed journal that provides for the publication of high quality research articles and review papers that are as broad as the many disciplines that influence and underpin the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine. Particular emphasis is given to basic science research, clinical epidemiology and health social science in relation to osteopathy and neuromusculoskeletal medicine.The Editorial Board encourages submission of articles based on both quantitative and qualitative research designs. The Editorial Board also aims to provide a forum for discourse and debate on any aspect of osteopathy and neuromusculoskeletal medicine with the aim of critically evaluating existing practices in regard to the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal disorders and somatic dysfunction. All manuscripts submitted to the IJOM are subject to a blinded review process. The categories currently available for publication include reports of original research, review papers, commentaries and articles related to clinical practice, including case reports. Papers from academics involved in the teaching of students in the classroom are welcomed alongside those from clinical staff involved in the education of osteopaths in practice, through post-qualifying education and training initiatives. It is essential that the evidence-base to education is developed and this is reflected in papers submitted for publication. In alignment with the journal's overall Aims and Scope, papers submitted for consideration of publication should be relevant to an international audience, even if they are national in scale of study. Schizophrenia Bulletin seeks to review recent developments and empirically based hypotheses regarding the etiology and treatment of schizophrenia. We view the field as broad and deep, and will publish new knowledge ranging from the molecular basis to social and cultural factors. We will give new emphasis to translational reports which simultaneously highlight basic neurobiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations. Much of the Bulletin content will be invited reviews and manuscripts organized as a theme by special guest editors. Also, the Bulletin will carry unsolicited manuscripts of high quality that report original data related to theme issues or where the Bulletin can provide a special venue for a major study.The editorial policy of the Schizophrenia Bulletin generally follows the Uniform Requirements guidelines articulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (http://www.icmje.org). The journal is published bi-monthly serving readership and contributors from the USA and internationally. Each issue of the Bulletin will be based on a major review and/or one or more themes comprised of 2-5 Reviews Articles covering clinical and basic scientific aspects of the theme area of the issue. Topics for future issues will be announced ahead of time and Original Reports related to the themes will be accepted for review. Studies in the Education of Adults is an international journal for theorising and critically examining the education of adults in all contexts. The journal seeks to foster and stimulate a global community of academics and researchers with a broad interest in research in the education of adults. It is equally focused on adult learning, the nature of adult curriculum and on the role of the educator. Adult learning may occur in institutional, professional and community settings including colleges, universities, the workplace, trade unions and voluntary organisations. Adult learning may also occur in a wide variety of contexts such as the home, public spaces, through leisure activities, social movements and virtual media. We encourage submissions that examine learning in these various contexts. The Editorial Board is also keen to promote the role of adult learning and education in social justice.

We encourage writers from a broad range of ideological interests, theoretical positions and research traditions and we especially welcome multidisciplinary research. We will promote the thematic exploration of specific areas as well as the exploration of new territories for adult education. We invite readers with an interest in developing a themed issue to submit outline proposals for consideration to the editors.

Peer Review Policy:

Territory, Politics, Governance is an interdisciplinary journal from the Regional Studies Association.  It is committed to the development of theory and research in territorial politics and the governance of space.  This journal creates a platform on which to explore the interface between territory, politics, economy, identity and the organisation of political space. It confronts topical and emergent issues of world economic and political concern. The journal publishes original, high quality international scholarship from this growing, international and increasingly vibrant field directed at a worldwide academic audience and at policy makers, activists and other communities of practice.

The journal is under consideration for inclusion in Social Science Citation Index and will have a significant circulation footprint from Volume 1, Issue 1 as it is distributed with its sister journals, Regional Studies and Spatial Economic Analysis. It will be essential reading for academics and practitioners alike.

With the advantages of being a new journal with shorter average turnaround from submission to review to decision the journal aims to publish two issues in 2013, three in 2014, moving to quarterly from 2015.

To be accepted, a paper must adhere to a high standard of scholarship and make an important contribution to this emerging field. Original paper submissions are sought from political scientists, geographers, sociologists, planners, lawyers, humanists and others working on territorial politics and the governance of space.

Visual Communication Quarterly (VCQ) is an international, peer-reviewed journal of theory, research, practical criticism, and creative work in all areas of visual communication. Our goal is to promote an inclusive, broad discussion of all things visual, while also encouraging synthesis and theory building across our fascinating field of study. We define "visual" in the broadest sense of the word -- from dreams and cognitive theory through gesture and geography, as well as issues concerning visual ethics, visual ecology, representation, visual media in all forms, and visual behavior. Methods range from tightly controlled quantitative studies through critical analysis, essays, qualitative scholarship, and creative art. We also print numerous single images and portfolios as well as multimedia work on our Web site, a rarity among academic journals. VCQ, the official publication of the Visual Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, has published regularly since 1994. For 11 years, VCQ was distributed to more than 10,000 professionals and scholars through News Photographer magazine of the National Press Photographers Association. Polymer Reviews publishes topical issues, consisting of invited high quality reviews on topics of current interest in all areas of macromolecular science and engineering. Areas of particular interest are biomedical applications, organic electronics and photonics, nanostructures, micro- and nano-fabrication, biological molecules (DNA, proteins, carbohydrates), polymers for renewable energy and the environment, and polymers at the interfaces with other disciplines. Progress in Physical Geography is an international journal, encompassing an interdisciplinary approach incorporating the latest developments and debates within Physical Geography and interrelated fields across the Earth, Biological and Ecological System Sciences. Contributions which review progress to date; which blend review material with new and original findings; or which introduce material, methods or techniques at the forefront of current knowledge, while setting directions for future work are welcomed. Authors need not be uncritically exhaustive in synthesizing research on a particular topic, but should concentrate on what they consider to be the most promising recent productive trends and developments which are likely to be transformative.They should further aim at the widest possible international coverage and should consider the relevance of tangential or parallel developments to their fields. In addition, authors are encouraged to evaluate the general significance of research to date, including practical and policy applications where relevant.

Qualitative Research Reports in Communication is a scholarly, peer-reviewed annual journal sponsored by the Eastern Communication Association. The journal publishes brief qualitative and critical research essays of 2,500 words or less on a wide range of topics extending and enhancing the understanding of human communication. Topics appropriate for the journal include but are not limited to studies of intercultural, mediated, political, organizational, interpersonal and legal communication. Submissions are welcomed from all geographical regions of the globe.
