Studies in the History of Gardens & Designed Landscapes addresses itself to readers with a serious interest in the subject, and is now established as the main place in which to publish scholarly work on all aspects of garden history. The journal's main emphasis is on detailed and documentary analysis of specific sites in all parts of the world, with focus on both design and reception. The journal is also specifically interested in garden and landscape history as part of wider contexts such as social and cultural history and geography, aesthetics, technology, (most obviously horticulture), presentation and conservation. From time to time issues are centered around themes, for example, the Anglo-Dutch garden in the age of William and Mary, eighteenth-century gardens of the Chesapeake, gardens of the Ancient Mediterranean, or rediscovering the British garden. The Journal publishes reviews and review essays of important literature. The Journal of Cost Analysis and Parametrics is the official publication of the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association. It is a scholarly journal featuring peer-reviewed articles that provide the latest developments in cost estimating, cost analysis, and cost management. Its objective is to improve the theory and practice of cost estimating, analysis, management, and research results among cost-analysis educators and practitioners around the world.
The Journal seeks to publish research that is interesting, intellectually rigorous, and advances the body of knowledge of cost analysis and parametrics. Papers involving a variety of topics, settings, and research methods are solicited. Manuscripts related to a broad range of application areas for any sector of the economy including manufacturing, financial services, construction, retail, defense, and not-for-profit are desired. New theories, topical areas, and research methods are encouraged. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Cost model development and validation
- Decision analysis
- Risk and uncertainty
- Simulation
- Trade studies
- Learning curves
- Productivity assessment
- Earned value management
- Design to cost
- Lifecycle costing
- Statistical techniques for analyzing data

Submissions will be evaluated based on their: (1) readability; (2) relevance; and (3) reliability. All papers accepted for publication in the Journal must have a high level of readability. Poor readability can impede the ability of a reviewer to evaluate the contribution of a paper and may lead to rejection. It is necessary to ensure the paper can be readily understood by individuals involved in the area discussed in the paper. References should not impede the flow of the paper and unnecessary obscure jargon should not be used. If applicable, details of the statistical methodology should be in an appendix rather than in the body of the paper if they are not central to the focus of the manuscript.
The second criterion is relevance. A paper is relevant if it has the potential to influence cost estimating, analysis, or management. A paper that appeals to a broad spectrum of readers or is unique or innovative has a better possibility of influencing practice and theory development and therefore, is more relevant than a paper without these features.
The third criterion is reliability. The paper is reliable if the conclusions of the paper can be reasonably inferred from the arguments. Reliability is easier to assess when a paper is statistical or involves empirical research with which the reviewer is familiar. Authors can improve the probability of acceptance of a paper by including a section on the limitations of the research techniques.

Energy Sources, Part B will carry articles related to the continuing increases in worldwide energy costs and diminishing accessibility of fossil energy resources, and the economic impact of energy use on the environment. In addition to petroleum-related articles (that also includes articles related to heavy oil), the economic and political aspects of the development and use of coal, geothermal energy, natural gas, nuclear energy, ocean thermal gradients, oil shale, organic waste, solar energy, tar, sand, and wind will be covered. Full-length articles and invited review papers reporting on the economic and developmental state of the art in extraction and conversion of energy sources, as well as on their impact on the environment are welcome. Energy Sources, Part B will also publish selected proceedings from a conference or a collection of papers dealing with a single topic.

Race, ethnicity and nationalism are at the heart of many of the major social and political issues in the present global environment. New antagonisms have emerged which require a rethinking of traditional theoretical and empirical perspectives. Ethnic and Racial Studies, published ten times a year, is the leading journal for the analysis of these issues throughout the world. The journal provides an interdisciplinary academic forum for the presentation of research and theoretical analysis, drawing on sociology, social policy, anthropology, political science, economics, geography, international relations, history, social psychology and cultural studies. Ethnic and Racial Studies welcomes contributions from both established and younger scholars working in any of the main areas of interest. We welcome articles with an empirical focus as well as contributions at the cutting edge of theoretical debates in this field. Each issue carries reviews of the latest books on race, ethnicity and nationalism. Regular special issues provide innovative perspectives on questions of current importance. European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology
The study of culture is the fastest growing area in both European and North American sociology. Political sociology is also re-establishing itself as a central plank of the discipline. The European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology aims to be a forum not so much for these fields of study considered separately, as for any work seeking to explore the relationship between culture and politics through a sociological lens. It welcomes, thus, both considerations of cultural phenomena in relation to political context, work that situates political phenomena within a cultural framework, and all points between these poles. In so doing it seeks both to address matters of immediate concern and to recover the broad sociological sensibility that was once a staple of the classical tradition.

European Security
European Security is a forum for discussing challenges and approaches to security within the region as well as for Europe in a global context. The journal seeks to publish critical analyses of policies and developments in European institutions and member states, their relations with European and other immediate neighbours, and their relations with the wider world, including other regional and international organisations. It is also interested in non-European perspectives on Europe in a global context.
Whilst the journal is particularly interested in stimulating debate between varied theoretical approaches, it strongly encourages policy debates on topical issues that combine conceptual and empirical analyses. Within this broad framework the journal invites submissions in the following areas:
- Theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of security in Europe
- Comparative and in-depth studies of European states and national defence policies

Evolutionary Intelligence
Evolutionary Intelligence is an international journal devoted to the publication and dissemination of theoretical and practical aspects of the use of population-based search for artificial intelligence. Techniques of interest include evolving rule-based systems, evolving artificial neural networks, evolving fuzzy systems, evolving Bayesian and statistical approaches, artificial immune systems, and hybrid systems which combine evolutionary computation with other A.I. techniques in general.
