The Lancet publishes medical news, original research, and reviews on all aspects of clinical medicine and global health. The journal is committed to applying scientific knowledge to improve health and advance human progress, and this is as true today as it was when the first issue was published on October 5, 1823.

Medical Care Research and Review provides essential information about the field of health services to researchers, policy makers, managers, and practitioners. MCR&R publishes peer-reviewed articles synthesizing empirical and theoretical research on health services, examining such issues as organization, financing, health care reform, quality of care, and patient-provider relationships. The journal seeks three kinds of manuscripts: review articles that synthesize previous research in several disciplines and therewith provide guidance to others conducting empirical research as well as to policy makers, managers, and/or practitioners; methodologically rigorous empirical research that provides a significant contribution to previous knowledge; and articles that present new data and trends in the health care area or help us better understand how data can be used by the field.

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health: Part B has been instituted to provide a quarterly outlet for in-depth critical reviews, both commissioned and unsolicited, which complement the original research published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health. In keeping with the original scope, Part B will focus on environmental toxicology in general as well as on special interest fields such as: * target organ toxicities; * immunotoxicology; * risk assessment; * carcinogenesis and mutagenesis; * ecotoxicology and aquatic toxicology; * environmental factors affecting health. Emphasis will be on the toxicological effects of natural and anthropogenic environmental pollutants and their action on both intact organisms and in vitro systems. The World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WJPCHS) is a new, quarterly, peer-reviewed scientific publication dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge pertaining to congenital heart anomalies, and pediatric heart diseases in general. Official journal of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, WJPCHS focuses on the surgical aspect of the care of infants, children, and adults. The International Editorial Advisory Board includes specialists in congenital heart surgery, cardiology, anesthesia, critical care and nursing.

Pragmatics & Cognition is an interdisciplinary journal seeking to bring together such disciplines as philosophy, linguistics, semiotics, cognitive science, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, ethology, and cognitive anthropology, among others. The journal seeks to explore relations of all sorts between semiotic systems as used by humans, animals and machines, in connection with mental activities: logical and causal dependence; condition of acquisition, development of loss; modeling, simulation of formalization, shared or separate biological and neurological bases; social and cultural variation; aesthetic expression; historical development; etc. Pragmatics & Cognition's basic assumption is that the proper understanding of mental life and inter-personal relations requires an intensive and thoughtful exchange of views across disciplines.

While safety permeates all ACS journals, it benefits from its preeminence in ACS Chemical Health & Safety where its authors influence chemical safety and guide tomorrow’s science. Chemical safety research can be transformational and innovative, and it can also focus on practice and be narrowly scoped. This includes foundational datasets or variations on well-studied themes because they hold value to those working with hazardous materials. ACS Chemical Health & Safety provides the opportunity to publish across all these areas. As a discipline, chemical health and safety does not limit itself to laboratories and chemical facilities, and our authors are more than just chemists and chemical engineers; they are scientists with broad research backgrounds and members of the public from many disciplines, including environmental safety and health professionals, industrial hygienists, public health professionals, safety policy makers, human factors specialists, and more.

Manuscripts relating to commercial products are welcome, provided that they are not advertisements. 

Topics that address new medical approaches (e.g., those utilizing nano materials to deliver targeted drug therapies) and environmental contaminates will be considered but are not regularly accepted for peer review because we believe the topics could be better served by the journals that specialize in those fields.

All manuscripts are subject to critical, anonymous peer review. The final decision relating to a manuscript’s suitability for the journal rests solely with the Editor.

Infectious Diseases of Poverty is an open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing topic areas and methods that address essential public health questions relating to infectious diseases of poverty. These include various aspects of the biology of pathogens and vectors, diagnosis and detection, treatment and case management, epidemiology and modeling, zoonotic hosts and animal reservoirs, control strategies and implementation, new technologies and application. Transdisciplinary or multisectoral effects on health systems, ecohealth, environmental management, and innovative technology are also considered.

Informatics in Medicine Unlocked (IMU) is an international gold open access journal covering a broad spectrum of topics within medical informatics, including (but not limited to) papers focusing on imaging, pathology, teledermatology, public health, ophthalmological, nursing and translational medicine informatics. The full papers that are published in the journal are accessible to all who visit the website.

Only manuscripts of sufficient quality with scientific relevance will be considered for publication; the types of articles accepted include original research papers, reviews, perspectives, letters to the editor and editorials, tutorials, and papers on innovative and topical new technology. Proposals for special focus issues from leading research groups will also be considered.

Manuscript referees will be experts in the subject matter, working in academia, industry, and at government institutions. Usually, comments from 2-5 referees will be returned to the authors after first submission of the manuscript. Average turnaround time for manuscript evaluation is expected to be less than 4 weeks. Average time from first submission to publication of accepted papers, including revision, will typically be 2-4 months.

The Harvard Review of Psychiatry is the authoritative source for scholarly reviews and perspectives on a diverse range of important topics in psychiatry. Founded by the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry, the journal is peer-reviewed and not industry sponsored. It is the property of President and Fellows of Harvard College and is affiliated with all of the Departments of Psychiatry at the Harvard teaching hospitals. Articles encompass all major issues in contemporary psychiatry, including (but not limited to) neuroscience, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, history of psychiatry, and ethics. ADHD Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders publishes the results of basic and clinical research contributing to the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of all psychiatric syndromes in which attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may be a feature.Regular features will include: original research reports: review papers: case studies: short communications: and letters to the Editor.

The Journal publishes novel papers that contribute to the understanding of ADHD. Alcohol and Alcoholism publishes papers on the biomedical, psychological, and sociological aspects of alcoholism and alcohol research, provided that they make a new and significant contribution to knowledge in the field.Papers include new results obtained experimentally, descriptions of new experimental (including clinical) methods of importance to the field of alcohol research and treatment, or new interpretations of existing results.Theoretical contributions are considered equally with papers dealing with experimental work provided that such theoretical contributions are not of a largely speculative or philosophical nature.
