Anthropology and Humanism concerns that central question of the discipline: what it is to be human. AH welcomes contributions from all major fields of anthropology and from scholars in other social science disciplines, as well as the humanities. It seeks to bring out the intricate and contradictory processes of life in other cultures--including those of anthropologists. Whether working with life histories or demographics, poetics or nutrition, artistic expression or scientific writing, this journal strives to maintain a focus on the human actors themselves. AH values writing that delights, writing that outrages, writing that evokes the human condition in all its messiness, glory, and misery, writing that reveals the social blockages that are deleterious to our social and physical environment and is able to promote cross-cultural understanding.

To this end, Anthropology and Humanism publishes work in a variety of genres, including fiction and creative nonfiction, poetry, drama, and photo essays, as well as more conventional articles and reviews. The journal publishes semi-annually by the Society for Humanistic Anthropology.

European Journal of Clinical Nutrition (EJCN) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing articles related to human and clinical nutrition. The scope of the journal includes publishing Original Articles, Invited Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Clinical Trials papers and Short Communications based on clinical, metabolic and epidemiological studies that describe methodologies, mechanisms, associations and benefits of nutritional interventions for clinical disease and health promotion. Editorials, Letters to the Editor, Response to Letter and Commentaries also feature in EJCN. EJCN also publishes Supplements to the main journal which feature papers from important international expert consultations and proceedings of relevant meetings and conferences.EJCN aims to cover all aspects of human and clinical nutrition: Clinical and whole body metabolic investigations; Epidemiological, social and behavioural studies in nutrition; Nutritional determinants of growth, development and health; Assessment and measurement of nutritional status and indicators, and their relation to function and health; Nutritional causes and effects of disease; Nutritional interventions in clinical practice and in population settings; Community nutrition and education; and Nutrition, population health and health promotion. Manuscripts based on animal nutrition and in vitro studies will not be considered for publication.

European Journal of East Asian Studies is a multi-disciplinary journal dedicated to East Asia, one of the most varied, complex, and rapidly changing parts of the world. Published in Europe by European specialists, the journal is open to new ideas and findings from wherever they may come. We welcome the submission of manuscripts in social sciences such as political science, economics, sociology and cultural studies (including but not limited to business studies, development studies, international relations, political economy,...). Articles can address the wider East Asian region (China, Japan, Korean Peninsular, Japan, Mongolia), including Southeast Asia (ASEAN countries but not Oceania/South Pacific). They may also study inter-regional relations involving the Asian region (such as Asia-Europe relations for instance), or sub-regions (such as Southeast Asia for example) and individual East Asian countries. The journal covers both 20th and 21st centuries with a clear contemporary focus.

Whilst the journal is particularly interested in stimulating debate between varied theoretical approaches, it strongly encourages policy debates on topical issues that combine conceptual and empirical analyses. Within this broad framework the journal invites submissions in the following areas:

Social change within the countries of Central Europe has brought major changes in agriculture. The abandonment of central planning and the introduction of the open market have created a need for the quickest possible exchange of knowledge. All countries in transition have similar problems; so a logical step is to create a shared journal. The beginning of a new millennium and the spreading of new electronic technologies creates new fields of publishing and easier access to knowledge from remote places. Besides a need for knowledge, there is a need to share problems and solutions with our neighbours but it is also equally important to keep and develop our national languages and identities. We have tried to combine such contradictory problems in one unifying electronic agricultural journal for Central and Eastern Europe. Not less important intention is to ease the demand on the present West European journals in agriculture, and to give opportunity and encouragement to Central European scientists to publish faster. The multilingual strategy of the journal accepts the world intention to preserve and support the development of national languages. The Journal publishes original articles, rapid communication of information and proceedings of scientific meetings in English, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak and Slovenian.

Journal of Curriculum Studies publishes original refereed contributions on all aspects of curriculum studies (including those derived from historical, philosophical, comparative and policy-related investigations), pedagogic theory, teacher education and development, assessment and evaluation, and the present state of schooling. Cognitive Neuropsychology aims to promote the investigation of human cognition that is based on neuropsychological methods including brain pathology, recording, stimulation or imaging. The research can involve brain-lesioned or neurologically-intact adults, children or non-human animals as long as it makes an explicit contribution to our understanding of normal human cognitive processes and representations. Cognition is understood broadly to include the domains of perception, attention, planning, language, thinking, memory and action. The research may, additionally, contribute to issues regarding clinical populations and the neurobiology of cognition. JELS: Where scholarship and practice meet The Journal of Empirical Legal Studies (JELS) is a peer-edited, peer-refereed, interdisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality, emirically-oriented articles of interest to scholars in a diverse range of law and law-related fields, including civil justice, corporate law, criminal justice, domestic relations, economics, finance, health care, political science, psychology, public policy, securities regulation, and sociology. Both experimental and nonexperimental data analysis are welcome, as are law-related empirical studies from around the world. Launched in 2004, JELS is devoted to the dissemination of empirical studies of the legal system. The Journal's editors and editorial advisory boards comprise renowned international scholars from diverse disciplines, including law, statistics, economics, psychology, industrial relations, and dispute resolution. Recognizing that many legal and policy debates hinge on assumptions about the operation of the legal system, the Journal seeks to encourage and promote the careful, dispassionate testing of these assumptions. The editorial policy of the Journal is open to empirical work from any disciplinary or ideological approach to the study of law. Empirical analysis of the legal system has a long, if spotty, tradition in the academy. Many legal realists of the 1930s made their mark with empirical studies. A growing number of contemporary scholars recognize the value of empirical analysis in understanding the legal system and its role in society. JELS provides an outlet for publication of high quality empirical work, supporting and encouraging this growing field of study. There is currently a gap in the legal and social science literature that has often left scholars, lawyers, and policymakers without basic knowledge of legal systems or with false or distorted impressions. Even simple descriptive data about the functioning of courts and the legal systems are often lacking. Reform and intellectual debate have previously proceeded in an empirical vacuum. Courts and lawyers often do not know what to make of empirical findings in part because they so rarely encounter them. JELS fills this gap. The time is ripe for empirical studies of the legal system. With the explosion in information technology, data sources on the legal system are improving in quality and accessibility. Compared with just a few years ago, researchers today can easily access original data sets. For example, using internet browsers and the archive at the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, academic researchers can obtain data ranging from the RAND studies of jury verdicts in California and Chicago, to the Wisconsin Civil Litigation Research Project's data, to the Federal Judicial Center's archives of all federal court cases. A major goal of JELS is to make these and other worldwide data sets more widely known and used. JELS papers should clearly document their data sources and methodology so that all researchers can access, replicate, and criticize the analysis and results. JELS has an International Advisory Board that includes empirical scholars from around the world, including Japan, continental Europe, Scandinavia, England, and Australia. Journals edited in the United States sometimes exhibit a form of provincialism in assessing empirical work based in foreign countries. If there are no direct and obvious implications for the United States, the data are sometimes treated as being of insufficient interest to warrant publication. JELS will have a self-consciously international perspective. An article that provides useful insights into the experience of a country will be judged by the article's potential appeal to a worldwide audience and not solely to a U.S. readership. By the time the first issue of JELS was published in January of 2004, controversial, topical, and thought-provoking articles from the first volume had already been discussed and debated in The New York Times, The Economist, the Financial Times (London), the Wall Street Journal, and the International Herald Tribune.
