Most research and experiments in the fields of science, engineering and social studies have spent significant efforts to find rules from various complicated phenomena by observations, recorded data, logic derivations and so on. The rules are normally summarised as concise and quantitative expressions or "models". "Identification" provides mechanisms to establish the models and "control" provides mechanisms to improve the system's (represented by its model) performance. IJMIC has been set up to reflect the relevant generic studies in this area.

In recent years, frontiers of research in engineering, science and technology have been driven by developments in nanomaterials, encompassing a diverse range of disciplines such as materials science, biomedical engineering, nanomedicine and biology, manufacturing technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and nanoelectronics. Nanoparticles are becoming key components in a wide range of applications. Research encompasses numerous disciplines, e.g. nanotechnology, molecular engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical drug manufacture, biology, chemistry, physics, optical components, polymer science, mechanical engineering, toxicology, cosmetics, energy, food technology and environmental and health sciences. IJNP highlights the chemical, physical and biological phenomena/processes associated with nanoparticles and nanostructures ranging from molecular size to 100nm which exhibit improved properties or have novel applications due to their size. Submicron nanoparticles are included in special cases.

IJSISE covers theoretical, experimental and applied aspects of the engineering design of signal and imaging systems, with emphasis on signal generation and image formation mechanisms, transmission, sensing, analysis and processing, and post-processing algorithms. IJSISE provides the interface between basic research, algorithms and techniques in signal and image processing/analysis/transmission on one side and integral systems on the other. State-of-the-art systems analysis, design, integration, evaluation, standardisation, and the development of algorithms evaluated towards building such systems are the journal's primary focus.

Invertebrate Neuroscience publishes original articles, reviews and technical reports describing recent advances in the field of invertebrate neuroscience. The journal reports on research that exploits the simplicity and experimental tractability of the invertebrate preparations to underpin fundamental advances in neuroscience. Articles published in Invertebrate Neurosciences serve to highlight properties of signalling in the invertebrate nervous system that may be exploited in the field of antiparisitics, molluscicides and insecticides. Aspects of particular interest include: functional analysis of the invertebrate nervous system; molecular neuropharmacology and toxicology; neurogenetics and genomics; functional anatomy; neurodevelopment; neuronal networks; and molecular and cellular mechanisms of behaviour and behavioural plasticity.

The main part of each issue will be devoted to original research papers which should present new results of interest in the field of Fertility and infertility, ethical and social issues of assisted reproductive technologies, cellular and molecular biology of reproduction, including the development of gametes and early embryos, assisted reproductive technologies in model system and in a clinical environment, reproductive endocrinology, andrology, epidemiology, pathology, genetics, oncology, surgery, psychology and physiology. Emerging topics including cloning, the biology of embryonic stem cells are encouraged. The IJRM will also consider review, case report, short communication and letter to editor.

The initial nucleus of Shiraz University was formed in 1946 with the establishment of the junior College of Health which aimed at training specialists in the Medical Sciences during a four year program. In 1949 this was transformed to a Medical College and shortly thereafter in 1953 the Namazi School of Nursing and in 1955 the Colleges of Agriculture and Arts and Sciences were established. Shiraz University which, prior to the Islamic Revolution, was called Pahlavi University was founded in 1954 with the addition of the College of Engineering and College of Veterinary Medicine. Other units that were subsequently added were the Dental School in 1969, the Graduate School and the Junior College of Electronics in 1969, and the Colleges of Law and Education in 1977.
