Journal Guide

The Journal for the History of Knowledge is an open access, peer-reviewed journal devoted to the history of knowledge in its broadest sense. This includes the study of science, but also of indigenous, artisanal, and other types of knowledge as well as the history of knowledge developed in the humanities and social sciences. Special attention is paid to interactions and processes of demarcation between science and other forms of knowledge. Contributions may deal with the history of concepts of knowledge, the study of knowledge making practices and institutions and sites of knowledge production, adjudication, and legitimation (including universities). Contributions which highlight the relevance of the history of knowledge to current policy concerns (for example, by historicizing and problematizing concepts such as the "knowledge society") are particularly welcome.

JHoK is affiliated with Gewina, the Belgian-Dutch Society for History of Science and Universities. It is supported by the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities, Huygens Institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Vossius Centre for the History of Humanities and Sciences, and the Stevin Centre for History of Science and Humanities.

The journal is explicitly global in scope. It offers a platform for publications that concern western and non-western cases, that compare western and non-western knowledge making practices or that show the connections between concepts and practices of knowledge in different parts of the globe.

Its time-span is antiquity to the present.

ANIMAL SCIENCE PAPERS AND REPORTS (Anim. Sci. Pap. Rep.) is an English language quarterly published by the Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Jastrzebiec. Papers are welcome reporting studies in all aspects of animal breeding and genetics, reproduction, animal biotechnology, physiology, ethology and welfare. Critical review papers and short reports will also be considered and in justified cases also other original articles dealing with animal science and production. Proceedings of the related meetings and conferences will be published as supplements.

It is an international journal, which has been issued under the care of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The Bulletin derived from ‘Bulletin of High Agronomical Studies Academy of Cluj’ and 'Buletinul Universitatii de Stiinte Agricole si Medicina Veterinara Cluj-Napoca, Seria Zootehnie si Biotehnologii'. Content in English; biannual.The journal publishes the proceedings of the International Symposium “Prospects for the 3rdMillennium Agriculture” , held annually at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Esophagus, the official journal of the Japan Esophageal Society, introduces practitioners and researchers to significant studies in the fields of benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus. The journal welcomes original articles, review articles, case reports, and short articles including technical notes ( How I do it ), which will be peer-reviewed by the editorial board. Letters to the editor are also welcome. Special articles on esophageal diseases will be provided by the editorial board, and proceedings of symposia and workshops will be included in special issues for the Annual Congress of the Society.

Inflammation presents the latest international advances in experimental and clinical research on the physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, and pharmacology of inflammation. Published items include full-length scientific reports, short definitive articles, and papers from meetings and symposia proceedings. The journal's coverage extends to acute and chronic inflammation; mediators of inflammation; mechanisms of tissue injury and cytotoxicity; pharmacology of inflammation; and clinical studies of inflammation and its modification.

International Journal of Population Studies (IJPS) is an open access, multidisciplinary journal that publishes high quality original research and timely reviews of recent advances and emerging issues in population processes; dynamics of fertility, mortality, and migration; and linkages with socioeconomic and environmental change across times, spaces, and cultures.

The journal aims to provide a platform for researchers worldwide to promote and share cutting-edge knowledge and advances in different areas of population research. Article formats include original research, commentaries, meta analyses, perspectives, shorter technical research notes, review essays, and book reviews that address demography and population-related issues. The journal also offers special conference proceedings and other meetings.

The Journal of Agriculture and Food Research is a peer-reviewed open access journal focusing on research in the agricultural and food sciences. The journal welcomes full length research articles, reviews, short communications, perspectives, and commentaries from researchers in academic institutions, international research centers, and public and private research organizations. The journal has a special interest in the research that links agriculture and food together, and editors will prioritize to publish papers in this interdisciplinary field. Special issues covering topics in a specific subject area and conference proceedings are also considered for publication. 

Strabismus publishes articles on all areas of the field including esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia, and Duane's Syndrome. The quarterly publication also discusses related disorders including amblyopia, infant visual development, binocular vision, stereopsis, suppression, amblyopia-related disorders of refraction, visual stimulus deprivation, and anisometropia. It aims to bridge the gap between neuroscientists and ophthalmologists and orthoptists treating strabismus and amblyopia patients. Strabismus includes the following sections: editorials, original papers, research reports, reviews, symposium proceedings, letters to the editor and selected abstracts.

Transfusion is the foremost publication in the world for new information regarding transfusion medicine. Written by and for members of AABB and other health-care workers, Transfusion reports on the latest technical advances, discusses opposing viewpoints regarding controversial issues, and presents key conference proceedings. In addition to blood banking and transfusion medicine topics, Transfusion also presents submissions concerning tissue transplantation and hematopoietic, cellular, and gene therapies.

The Proceedings of the Geologists' Association is an international geoscience journal that was founded in 1859 and publishes research and review papers on all aspects of Earth Science. In particular, papers will focus on the geology of northwestern Europe and the Mediterranean, including both the onshore and offshore record. Following a long tradition, the PGA will focus on: i) a range of article types (see below) on topics of wide relevance to Earth Sciences ii) papers on aspects of Earth Science that have societal relevance including geoconservation and Earth management, iii) papers on palaeoenvironments and palaeontology of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, iv) papers on aspects of Quaternary geology and climate change, and v) papers on the history of geology with particular reference to individuals that have shaped the subject. These topics will also steer the content of the themes of the Special Issues that are published in the PGA.Papers published in the PGA will take the form of Research papers and Review papers. In addition it will publish Viewpoints, which are aimed to provide authoritative views from Earth Scientists on topics of debate within our subject, Topical or Teaching Perspectives on subjects of current, or potentially future importance and are not necessarily research papers but are written in a manner that makes them particularly accessible to the general public and students, and Contexts, which are short papers giving the wider scientific context of a paper that is published in the same issue. Submissions of all these types of papers, within the scope and aims of the journal, are welcome. The American Orthoptic Journal enables those in the orthoptic and ophthalmologic communities to keep abreast of current clinical practice and research in ocular motility. The Journal serves as a forum for the presentation of new material in the fields of pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, amblyopia and strabismus. Materials contained in the journal include freely submitted peer reviewed articles, the Richard G. Scobee Memorial Lecture, the John Pratt Johnson Lecture, and the proceedings of the combined AOC/AACO/AAO symposium held at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Abstracts of the English, French, German, and Spanish literature on the subjects of amblyopia and strabismus as well as book reviews are also included. American Orthoptic Journal is indexed in MEDLINE.

The Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology-AIAN (ISSN 0972-2327) is the official journal of the Indian Academy of Neurology. Our aim is to serve as a medium for dissemination of information and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in neurosciences. The journal is published Quarterly. We accept for publication, manuscripts that were not published earlier or are under simultaneous consideration by another journal. The publication of the material as an abstract of conference proceedings is exempted. We follow the broad guidelines for good publications practice brought out by the Committee On Publication Ethics (COPE) and recommendations of World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). The Editorial Board shall scrutinize each article submitted to the journal and shall submit it to peer review.

Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research is a quarterly international journal. It publishes original research papers, shorter contributions, resulting correspondence, and book reviews. The subject matter deals with any scientific or cultural aspect of Arctic, Antarctic, and alpine environments and related topics on subarctic, subantarctic, subalpine environments, and paleoenvironments. Papers may be uni- or multidisciplinary but should have interdisciplinary appeal. Special thematic issues and proceedings are published from time to time.

Brain and Development is devoted to publishing Review Articles, Full Length Original Papers, Case Reports and Letters to the Editor in the field of Child Neurology and related sciences. Proceedings of meetings, and professional announcements will be published at the Editor's discretion. Dædalus was founded in 1955 as the Journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and established as a quarterly in 1958. It continues the volume and numbering system of the Academy's Proceedings, which ceased publication under that title with Volume 85. Dædalus draws on the enormous intellectual capacity of the American Academy, whose Fellows are among the nation's most prominent thinkers in the arts, sciences, and the humanities, as well as the full range of professions and public life. Each issue addresses a theme with original authoritative essays. .

History of European Ideas is devoted to the intellectual history of Europe from the Renaissance onwards. It is interdisciplinary in that it aims to publish papers on the history of ideas in a number of different fields: political and economic thought, philosophy, natural philosophy and science, theology and literature. Treatments of the history of ideas which cut across these categories or which trace connections between them in different European countries are particularly welcome. Proposals for special issues devoted to historical themes or to proceedings of conferences are also encouraged.
