Microbial Cell Factories is ready to receive manuscripts on all aspects of the development, use and investigation of microbial cells as factories for production of both natural products and recombinant proteins.

The powerful emergence and global spread of antibiotic resistant microbial pathogens and resistance genes in the 1990s presents challenges to a wide range of disciplines - from the molecular biology of resistance mechanisms, virulence genes, and disease through molecular epidemiology all the way to drug design, infection control, and medical practice. This international journal provides a multidisciplinary forum for peer-reviewed original publications as well as topical reviews and special reports.

Microbial Ecology is a dedicated international forum for the presentation of high-quality scientific investigations of how microorganisms interact with their environment, with each other and with their hosts. It offers articles of original research in full paper and note formats, as well as brief reviews, commentaries and topical position papers. The journal was founded more than 50 years ago by Dr. Ralph Mitchell, Gordon McKay Professor of Applied Biology at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Microbial Genomics is a fully open access, mandatory open data peer reviewed journal publishing high-profile original research on archaea, bacteria, microbial eukaryotes and viruses. Submissions are welcome from across the breadth of microbiology and should include a genomic approach.

Microbial Informatics and Experimentation is an open access, peer-reviewed online journal, collegial in tone, which publishes high-quality research related to the application of computational methods to data from microbial organisms and systems. The journal aims to be a resource for both computational and experimental scientists, in which computational methods inform experimentation, and vice versa.

Microbial Pathogenesis publishes original contributions and reviews about the molecular and cellular mechanisms of infectious diseases. It covers microbiology, host-pathogen interaction and immunology related to infectious agents, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa. We are entering a new and exciting era of microbiological study and application. Recent advances in the now established disciplines of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics, together with extensive cooperation between academic and industrial concerns, have brought about an integration of basic and applied microbiology as never before. Microbial Physiology aims to reflect this development by publishing original research papers from all areas of microbiology and biotechnology. It also features written symposia on selected topics, timely reviews, and mini-reviews. Theoretical approaches and descriptions of novel, microbiologically relevant software are also considered. Contributions and ideas from large segments of the scientific community are welcome to make Microbial Physiology a viable, much needed, and up-and-coming forum for current basic and applied microbiological research.

The journal Microbial Risk Analysis accepts articles dealing with the study of risk analysis applied to microbial hazards. Manuscripts should at least cover any of the components of risk assessment (risk characterization, exposure assessment, etc.), risk management and/or risk communication in any microbiology field (clinical, environmental, food, veterinary, etc.). This journal also accepts article dealing with predictive microbiology, quantitative microbial ecology, mathematical modeling, risk studies applied to microbial ecology, quantitative microbiology for epidemiological studies, statistical methods applied to microbiology, and laws and regulatory policies aimed at lessening the risk of microbial hazards. Work focusing on risk studies of viruses, parasites, microbial toxins, antimicrobial resistant organisms, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and recombinant DNA products are also acceptable.

Microbiological Research is devoted to publishing reports on prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms such as yeasts, fungi, bacteria, archaea, and protozoa. Research on interactions between pathogenic microorganisms and their environment or hosts are also covered. The research should be original and include molecular aspects to generate a significant contribution of broad interest. Papers of rather specialised or of preliminary and descriptive content will normally not be considered. Founded in 1932, the journal Mikrobiologiya (Microbiology) covers a wide range of problems in the areas of fundamental and applied microbiology. The journal publishes experimental and theoretical papers, reviews of trends in a range of fields of microbiological science, and short communications describing unusual observations. Microbiology Resource Announcements® (MRA) is an online-only, fully open-access journal that publishes articles announcing the availability of any microbiological resource deposited in a repository available to the community. In addition to genome sequences of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbes and viruses in public databases, as published in Genome Announcements, MRA will consider metagenomics sequences, amplicon sequence collections, metabolomics data, proteome data, culture collections, mutant libraries, plasmids and other genetic constructs, publicly available databases and software, and protocols and workflows. Manuscripts submitted to MRA will be peer reviewed for appropriate content and handled by a board of Senior Editors who will accept manuscripts at their discretion.

Microbiology Spectrum® (Spectrum) is an online-only, fully open-access journal that publishes research from all domains of basic, applied, and clinical microbial sciences. Rather than making subjective evaluations of potential impact, Microbiology Spectrum publishes research studies that are of high technical quality and are useful to the community. All decisions are made by an international and diverse editorial board that fully represents the microbiology research community.
