Atención Primaria Práctica

ISSN: 2605-0730eISSN: 2605-0730

tención Primaria Práctica is a new, peer reviewed, online open access journal. It is a Spanish and English language international journal that publishes articles of interest for health professionals that wish to become familiar with the practical aspects of the discipline. Although it is included in the group of "case report" journals, it is not limited to publishing clinical cases, as it also approaches all those aspects that are of interest in Primary Care practice, such as projects on the improvement of clinical quality, patient safety, patient-centred care, community programs, ethical conflicts, or organisational innovations that improve Primary Care.

Descriptive studies of cases and unique experiences are situated at the bottom of the scientific evidence pyramid, and for this reason they are not usually accepted in journals that publish biomedical research; however, these works provide knowledge that can be very useful for the clinician, the student, and the researcher. They are of interest for identifying rare or new diseases, to evaluate the effects of therapeutics, their adverse effects, or the cost of interventions, as well as contributing to problem-based learning and non-repetition of errors. They serve to encourage the creation of guidelines or clinical practice pathways or to suggest future research projects.

Atmospheric Environment

ISSN: 1352-2310

Atmospheric Environment is the international journal for scientists and researchers in different disciplines interested in air pollution and its societal impacts. The journal publishes papers on the consequences of natural and human-induced perturbations to the earth's atmospheres, including processes involving chemistry and physics of the atmosphere as well as subjects related to human health, welfare, climate change, and environmental policy. Atmospheric Environment publishes original research and review articles, special issues, supplements, and New Directions columns. Papers should be novel and results based and present scientific methods involving atmospheric observations, modeling, and analysis extending from local to global scales.Key topics for stand-alone papers and special issues:-Innovative air quality observations including space based remote sensingAnthropogenic/biogenic emissions and inventoriesBiospheric-atmospheric exchange and depositionModeling and analysisAir pollution - climate change interactionsRadiative effects of aerosols, clouds, and albedo changesHealth and welfare effects associated with pollution exposure in a changing global environmentIndoor air pollutionEnvironmental policy and regulatory impactsField campaigns and laboratory studies of atmospheric physical, chemical, and radiative processesOur scope is broad, but Atmospheric Environment has air pollution as its core theme. We have to maintain this tradition, while attracting high quality papers of sufficient novelty to contribute to science and its implications for policy. Three fundamental questions help the Editors in reaching a decision on whether to send a paper out for review:1. Scope - is the work directly or explicitly related to air pollution and has it been prepared or framed in such a way?2. Novelty - does the work provide something new (new method, new results) or does it add significantly to the literature of air pollution science?3. Quality - does the work suffer from obvious quality problems, problems in method (e.g. insufficient sample size) or writing style etc.We try to be flexible with novel papers on air pollution issues even if they don't have atmospheric measurements (e.g. wind tunnel studies, dynamometer studies, remote sensing retrieval etc). However, we are still cautious of purely mathematical derivations, preliminary results or case studies, making sure that these represent substantial contributions to the science of Air Pollution before sending them for review. Air pollution should also feature in manuscripts that lie at the margins of our scope e.g. agriculture, meteorology, climatology, building comfort, carbon footprint, physiology, noise, engineering, occupational hygiene, meteorological visibility, heating and ventilation etcBenefits to authors:-We also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Biomedicine and Preventive Nutrition

ISSN: 2210-5239

Compelling evidence supports a link between nutrition and a number of acute and chronic diseases. Malnutrition is either the result of inadequate nutrient intake (a condition that magnifies the need for one or several nutrients) or the cause or effect of illness. In developing countries, malnutrition and infections are the major cause of premature death whereas in developed countries chronic diseases including cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis are predominant pathologies. In children, appropriate nutrition can ensure a child's genetic potential. Eating disorders starting at puberty are more common in girls than boys. In adult pathology, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is becoming an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The complexity of medical and nutritional management is illustrated by diabetes mellitus. Obesity is one complicating factor that appears to exacerbate disturbances of insulin homeostasis. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma and gout all have also nutritional implications that need to be part of the overall treatment requiring changes in lifestyle. One of which is diet and the use of "functional foods" (foods that provide a health benefit beyond basic nutrition and beyond the traditional nutrients provided). Functional foods focus primarily on the risk factors of blood cholesterol, homocysteine and hypertension. As a result of increased longevity, phosphate depletion, Vitamin D deficiency and osteomalacia are more prevalent conditions. Osteoporosis is another major public health problem that is more acute in women but is becoming a problem for men in their seventh and eight decades. The relationship between immunity and nutritional status can be intricate. Maintenance of immuno-competence may be strongly influenced by adherence to a balanced diet. The objective of "Biomedicine & Preventive Nutrition" is to provide physicians, nutritionists, dentists, pharmacists, dieticians, health educators, policy makers and research investigators with up-to-date research indicating that the risk of many of the major diseases affecting children and adults can be prevented or at least delayed with nutritional approaches. In addition, Biomedicine & Preventive Nutrition will publish a comprehensive and introduction to natural products and natural metabolites from plants and marine natural products (bacteria, fungi, microalgae, sponges and mollusks) that will be of special interest to chemists, pharmacologists, ecologists, physicians those who are interested in medicinal natural products.

Biomolecular Detection and Quantification (BDQ) is an open access, peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to championing excellence in molecular study design, measurement, data analysis and reporting. Its focus is on the application of qualitative and quantitative molecular methodologies to all areas of clinical and life sciences. The journal has two main aims:to provide a forum for discussion and recommendation of guidelines designed to improve the accuracy of molecular measurement, its data analysis and the transparency of its subsequent reporting;to publish molecular biology based studies that adhere to best practice guidelines, both current and future.BDQ was established by a group of scientists based on their experience developing and publishing the Minimum Information for Publication of Quantitative Real-Time (and Digital) PCR Experiments (the MIQE and digital MIQE guidelines). The deliberately broad scope of the journal covers clinical areas such as cancer, epigenetics, metagenomics, and infectious diseases as well non clinical subjects including environmental, microbiology and food science. BDQ revolves around the common theme of promoting excellence in molecular measurement and its data analysis. It will serve as a repository for sharing key findings across what may otherwise be disparate specialties.BDQ is distinguished by its three highly respected founding editors and molecular methodology pioneers Carl Wittwer, Michael W. Pfaffl and Ron Cook, and an international editorial board comprised of experienced scientists with broad expert interest.BDQ is published quarterly and includes:original research articles (both methodological and applied)short communicationsreviewseditorials and commentspoints of view and perspective articlesIn conjunction to scientific meetings in the field special extra issues can be released. All submitted manuscripts must present original contributions and contain no data that have been published elsewhere. Bioorganic Chemistry

ISSN: 0045-2068eISSN: 1090-2120

Bioorganic Chemistry publishes accounts of research that provide mechanistic insight inspired by Biology. The guiding principle that the Editorial Board will follow in accepting manuscripts for publication is that the research uses the principles and techniques of organic and physical organic chemistry in attempting to solve some problem of relevance to biology or that are directly inspired by some biological observation.Within this context, manuscripts suitable for submission are ones that deal with such topics as enzymology and biocatalysis (including the study of ribozymes and catalytic antibodies), closely-relevant enzyme models, biosynthesis and combinatorial biosynthesis, and biomimetic synthesis. In addition, the theoretical treatment of any of these topics is appropriate, as is the application of biophysical and analytical techniques to advance our understanding of one of these topics. Biosensors and Bioelectronics

ISSN: 0956-5663

Biosensors & Bioelectronics is the principal international journal devoted to research, design, development and application of biosensors and bioelectronics. It is an interdisciplinary journal serving professionals with an interest in the exploitation of biological materials and designs in novel diagnostic and electronic devices including sensors, DNA chips, electronic noses, lab-on-a-chip and µ-TAS.Biosensors are defined as analytical devices incorporating a biological material (e.g. tissue, microorganisms, organelles, cell receptors, enzymes, antibodies, nucleic acids, natural products etc.), a biologically derived material (e.g. recombinant antibodies, engineered proteins, aptamers etc) or a biomimic (e.g. synthetic receptors, biomimetic catalysts, combinatorial ligands, imprinted polymers etc) intimately associated with or integrated within a physicochemical transducer or transducing microsystem, which may be optical, electrochemical, thermometric, piezoelectric, magnetic or micromechanical (Turner et al., 1987; Turner, 1989). Biosensors usually yield a digital electronic signal which is proportional to the concentration of a specific analyte or group of analytes. While the signal may in principle be continuous, devices can be configured to yield single measurements to meet specific market requirements. Examples of Biosensors include immunosensors, enzyme-based biosensors, organism- and whole cell-based biosensors. They have been applied to a wide variety of analytical problems including uses in medicine, biomedical research, drug discovery, the environment, food, process industries, security and defence. The design and study of molecular and supramolecular structures with molecular biorecognition and biomimetic properties for use in analytical devices is also included within the scope of the journal. Here the focus is on the complementary intersection between molecular recognition, nanotechnology, molecular imprinting and supramolecular chemistry to improve the analytical performance and robustness of devices. The emerging field of Bioelectronics seeks to exploit biology in conjunction with electronics in a wider context encompassing, for example, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information processing, information storage, electronic components and actuators. A key aspect is the interface between biological materials and micro- and nano-electronics.While endeavouring to maintain coherence in the scope of the journal, the editors will accept reviews and papers of obvious relevance to the community, which describe important new concepts, underpin understanding of the field or provide important insights into the practical application, manufacture and commercialisation of biosensors and bioelectronics.

Brain Research Bulletin

ISSN: 0361-9230

The Brain Research Bulletin (BRB) aims to publish novel work that advances our knowledge of cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie neural network properties associated with brain function and behavior and plastic changes occurring in the healthy nervous system or that is linked to neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. The BRB is especially interested in studies investigating in vivoneural functions using novel methodologies, such as optogenetics, multielectrode array recordings and life imaging. Although clinical research is out of the Journal's scope, the BRB is interested in publishing translation research that provides insight into biological mechanisms and processes affected in disease, such as the use of animal models for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Accordingly, studies on drugs with novel targets and actions are also of interest.Manuscripts should use a combination of experimental approaches to address at least two of the general areas aforementioned; research that is exclusively descriptive in nature will not be considered for publication. For example, manuscripts describing changes in RNA or protein expression patterns alone are not appropriate for publication but can be considered if they include experiments that investigate the function of those proteins or how changes in their expression levels may be related to behavior, plasticity or neurotransmission. In addition, studies that exclusive report on the association of genetic polymorphism with disease, but fail to include additional experiments demonstrating alterations in the gene's expression or to address potential biological mechanisms relevant to the disease, will not be viewed favorably by the Journal.Brain Research Bulletin offers simple electronic submission, accelerated peer-review, rapid publication and high quality color production with no expense to authors. Section Editors are committed to work closely with authors to provide constructive assistance to enhance visibility and impact of published articles.US National Institutes of Health (NIH) voluntary posting ("Public Access") policyBrain Research Bulletin and Elsevier facilitate the author's response to the NIH Public Access Policy.
