Systematics and Biodiversity

ISSN: 1477-2000eISSN: 1478-0933

Now Publishing with Taylor & Francis: Free Online access to Volume 8 Issue 1 Systematics and Biodiversity is devoted to whole-organism biology. It is a quarterly, international, peer-reviewed, life science journal, without page charges, which is published by Taylor & Francis for The Natural History Museum, London. The criterion for publication is scientific merit. Systematics and Biodiversity documents the diversity of organisms in all natural phyla, through taxonomic papers that have a broad context (not single species descriptions), while also addressing topical issues relating to biological collections, and the principles of systematics. It particularly emphasises the importance and multi-disciplinary significance of systematics, with contributions which address the implications of other fields for systematics, or which advance our understanding of other fields through taxonomic knowledge, especially in relation to the nature, origins, and conservation of biodiversity, at all taxonomic levels. Each issue contains a main section devoted to formal peer-reviewed original research papers, and a shorter, more informal 'Perspective' section. As well as taxonomic discovery, description, revision and recording, the research section carries studies of adaptation, anatomy, biodiversity patterns in time and space (including response to environmental and human factors, and to global change), biogeography, coevolution, conservation biology, development, evolutionary biology, functional morphology, growth and form, molecular science, phylogenetics, cladistics, speciation, and systematic ecology. State-of-knowledge reviews and papers on the theory and practice of systematics are also welcome. There are no restrictions on the geographical location of authors, their material and study areas, or on the institutional locations of their studied collections. The 'Perspective' section covers a similar range of subjects to the main section, but gives scope for debate and comment as well as reviews of books. Temperature

ISSN: 2332-8940eISSN: 2332-8959

Aims & Scope: Temperature is a unique peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal with an international audience. It welcomes research papers broadly related to interactions between living matter and temperature. The journal’s logo is: “Temperature is life.” While the primary focus is on the biological and medical physiology of body temperature regulation, research in all scientific disciplines and at all levels of organization — from submolecular to biospheric — is of interest to the journal. If your paper deals with both temperature and life, it belongs in Temperature!

Vision: Our vision for this journal is explained in the inaugural Editorial: http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/ktmp20/1/1

Journal Features
  • Temperature maintains the most authoritative Editorial Board that attracts the best research to the journal and provides expert peer review.
  • Temperature publishes a wide variety of types of articles and is happy to accommodate almost any research paper format.
  • A manuscript rejected by a leading multidisciplinary journal or a leading specific-field journal may be submitted to Temperature with the rejection letter from that journal accompanied by all reviewers’ reports. This may allow Temperature to consider the already peer-reviewed manuscript without sending it for additional review.
  • Temperature has a special article type, called Challenge, designed for publishing paradigm-shifting research. Challenge articles dispute consensus views. They can be both original-research reports and reviews. Such “the-earth-is-round!” articles are typically rejected by anonymous reviewers who defend “the-earth-is-flat!” consensus views. Temperature intends to identify Challenge articles early during the peer-review process and - instead of rejecting them - to publish them and to subject them to additional, rigorous post-publication peer-review. Multiple Letters to Editor from the leading experts in the field will be invited. Temperature's credo is to promote scientific discussion and dispute. Any scientific model can be further improved (changed) by challenging current consensus views. Maybe the earth is round indeed!
  • Temperature has a special content type, Teaching Slide, allowing professors who teach temperature-related sciences to disseminate their creative work and receive full credit for it. Many universities treat funding-generating faculty members as first-class citizens, while faculty members dedicated to performing the main function of any university — teaching — are often treated as second-class citizens. Temperature has a different position. It is open to teachers and let them use the journal pages for teaching. Teaching Slides will always be free to authors and will always be published with immediate open access.
  • Due to the high concentration of temperature-related research in a single journal, your article will be noticed by colleagues and competitors immediately. The best research published by Temperature will be commented upon and discussed on our pages.
  • Temperature's goal is to become the world’s premier journal for thermal biology, thermal medicine, and other temperature-related sciences.
  • Temperature is published both online and in the traditional (paper) print format.
  • Currently, all Temperature articles receive immediate open access.
  • Currently, all publications in Temperature are free to authors. No submission charges. No page charges. No color charges for figures published online. No color charges for figures published in print. No open-access charges.
  • Temperature offers several Awards for the best research published in this journal. The winning research will be featured in future issues. Four awards are currently available for articles published in the first three issues.

Territory, Politics, Governance

ISSN: 2162-2671eISSN: 2162-268X

Territory, Politics, Governance is an interdisciplinary journal from the Regional Studies Association.  It is committed to the development of theory and research in territorial politics and the governance of space.  This journal creates a platform on which to explore the interface between territory, politics, economy, identity and the organisation of political space. It confronts topical and emergent issues of world economic and political concern. The journal publishes original, high quality international scholarship from this growing, international and increasingly vibrant field directed at a worldwide academic audience and at policy makers, activists and other communities of practice.

The journal is under consideration for inclusion in Social Science Citation Index and will have a significant circulation footprint from Volume 1, Issue 1 as it is distributed with its sister journals, Regional Studies and Spatial Economic Analysis. It will be essential reading for academics and practitioners alike.

With the advantages of being a new journal with shorter average turnaround from submission to review to decision the journal aims to publish two issues in 2013, three in 2014, moving to quarterly from 2015.

To be accepted, a paper must adhere to a high standard of scholarship and make an important contribution to this emerging field. Original paper submissions are sought from political scientists, geographers, sociologists, planners, lawyers, humanists and others working on territorial politics and the governance of space.

We encourage contributions that develop the field and promote communication across spatial and disciplinary borders. The following examples illustrate some of the subjects of interest:

• Links between territories and politics across time and space
• Globalization and geopolitical imaginations
• Territorial identities and politics
• Theories of socio-spatial relations such as territories, places, scales, and networks
• Territory, planning, and development
• Multi-level governance, federalism, and supranational organizations
• Territories of resistance
• Spaces of postcolonial governance

The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science

ISSN: 0007-0882eISSN: 1464-3537

For over fifty years The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science has published the best international work in the philosophy of science under a distinguished list of editors including A. C. Crombie, Mary Hesse, Imre Lakatos, D. H. Mellor and David Papineau. One of the leading international journals in the field, it publishes outstanding new work on a variety of traditional and 'cutting edge' issues, such as the metaphysics of science and the applicability of mathematics to physics, as well as foundational issues in the physical sciences, the life sciences and the social sciences. Recent topics covered in the journal include: the nature of theoretical knowledge, probabilistic analyses of causation, the stability of cultural traits, gene-based accounts of the 'tree of life', and non-linguistic representations in organic chemistry. The journal seeks to advance the field by publishing innovative and thought-provoking papers, discussion notes and book reviews that open up new directions or shed new light on well-known issues. The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science receives over 250 submissions a year. The editors seek advice from the members of the editorial panel and a large number of expert referees. The new editors have instituted the policy of deciding on all submissions within six weeks of receipt. This is partly because we want to encourage authors to send us articles, but also because we think it is unnecessary, and therefore wrong, for authors to be kept waiting longer. The editorial team also ensures comprehensive coverage of books on philosophy of science and related subjects and publishes longer review articles on books of major significance in the field. The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science is published for The British Society for the Philosophy of Science by Oxford University Press. The Society holds monthly meetings during the academic year, at which papers are read and discussed. The venue for meetings is the Centre for the Philosophy of the Natural and Social Sciences, Tymes Court Building, London School of Economics. These meetings are open to Society members and the general public. The Society also holds a three-day annual conference each September, and occasional one-day conferences at different venues.Membership to the Society is open to anybody on payment of the annual subscription. Members can subscribe to the Journal at a reduced rate, receive the programme of monthly Society talks, and are entitled to vote at the general meetings of the Society. The annual membership of the Society is £7 for the UK and Europe, $11 for the USA and elsewhere. Student memberships are £1. The Clinical Neuropsychologist

ISSN: 1385-4046eISSN: 1744-4144
Impact Factor 1.719
5-Year Impact Factor 2.208
© 2015 Thomson Reuters, 2015 Journals Citation Reports ®

The Clinical Neuropsychologist (TCN) serves as the premier forum for (1) state-of-the-art clinically-relevant scientific research, (2) in-depth professional discussions of matters germane to evidence-based practice, and (3) clinical case studies in neuropsychology. Of particular interest are papers that can make definitive statements about a given topic (thereby having implications for the standards of clinical practice) and those with the potential to expand today’s clinical frontiers (e.g., introduction of a disorder that is typically not under the purview of clinical neuropsychology, yet presents with neurocognitive sequelae; introduction of new assessment or intervention tools). Research on all age groups, and on both clinical and normal populations, is considered.

1.       Scientific research.   TCN publishes research that is of interest to practicing clinicians, with the over-arching goal of contributing to advances in evidence-based practice.  Original empirical research, meta-analyses/systematic reviews, and critical integrative reviews of clinically-relevant topics  are considered. Of particular interest are studies pertaining to the following:
  • neuropsychological, behavioral, and psychiatric manifestations of neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative, and neuropsychiatric conditions, and acquired brain disorders
  • brain-behavior relationships, especially if pertaining to performance on clinical neuropsychological measures, or if pertaining to a specific disorder
  • psychometrics and/or norms of clinical instruments
  • forensic applications
  • professional issues (e.g., credentialing, education and training, and ethics) and practice-related surveys

2.       Professional discussions. TCN publishes both invited and unsolicited papers that contribute to the journal’s over-arching goal of establishing (and raising) standards of practice.  These include the following:

  • practice guidelines, consensus statements, and position papers that guide clinicians and clinical educators
  • invited opinions, commentaries, or discussions
  • book reviews (solicited by the Book Review section editor)

3.       Case studies. The Grand Rounds in Clinical Neuropsychology section of the journal is devoted to single case study presentations of interesting, timely, important, or unusual cases. Cases should be instructive and focus on the contributions that competent neuropsychological assessment make in terms of (a) elucidating brain-behavior relationships, (b) determining the functional status of patients, and (c) instructing intervention, treatment, rehabilitation, education, etc.  Essential elements of a case study submission include the following:

  • a well-documented history of the patient
  • medical/neurologic/psychiatric findings, and neuroimaging (preferred, but not required )
  • detailed results of neuropsychological evaluation
  • discussion of differential diagnosis and relevent treatment/management considerations

An additional online forum, in the form of an annual online supplement, aims to provide an outlet for narrow interest sound practice research that may only be of benefit to clinicians whose services are provided in the context of other languages or cultures. For more information on the online supplement and the types of articles considered, please read the TCN:OS Aims & Scope document here (PDF).

As a service to readers, select articles in each issue are available for CE credits, which are provided under the auspices of AACN via its website.

TCN
and the AACN jointly sponsor a yearly competition for the best scholarly manuscript based on a student project. The winner will be announced at the AACN annual meeting (starting in 2016).  The first-prize winner will receive a $1000 monetary award, and two runner-ups will receive $500 each. Read more on the Student Project Competition.

Peer Review: All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief, and, if found suitable for further consideration, are then peer reviewed by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is single blind and submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.

The Electricity Journal

ISSN: 1040-6190eISSN: 1873-6874

The Electricity Journal is the leading policy journal for the U.S. electric power industry. The Journal began publishing in July 1988. It was created because its founding editor and publisher, Robert Marritz, then a utility lawyer in private practice, was convinced that the electricity industry was moving on a fundamentally different track from the one it had traveled for most of the 20th century. He felt that electric utilities had lost the bedrock confidence of the public, largely as a result of their unsuccessful gamble with nuclear power. During this time, a small but growing industry of alternative suppliers generating power from natural gas-fired co-generation and renewable energy plants (wind power, biomass, hydro and solar), spurred by Congress's passage in 1978 of the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, were finding markets for their power. These alternative suppliers formed the vanguard of what has now proved to be a highly competitive business: selling power in large quantities at the wholesale level (for resale to end users). The Journal is now the principal print venue for those who are, with their ideas, forging the new shape and design of the electricity/energy industry. The component pieces of the Journal; articles, a news summary, features, letters and editorials; comprise a print version of a town hall meeting for the most thoughtful and influential people in the business:• Utility and independent power executives;• Federal and state regulators;• Consultants and lawyers;• Academics specializing in the field; and• Sophisticated customer and environmental representatives.Their continuing discussions about such matters as transmission access and pricing, energy trading, mergers and de-mergers, market power, the changing role of regulation, corporate strategy, and overseas investment are covered more cogently in the pages of The Electricity Journal than in any other print medium.Addresses to contact for other information.
