Associated with the International Association for Aerobiology, Aerobiologia is an international medium for original research and review articles in the interdisciplinary fields of aerobiology and interaction of human, plant and animal systems on the biosphere. Coverage includes bioaerosols, transport mechanisms, biometeorology, climatology, air-sea interaction, land-surface/atmosphere interaction, biological pollution, biological input to global change, microbiology, aeromycology, aeropalynology, arthropod dispersal and environmental policy. Emphasis is placed on respiratory allergology, plant pathology, pest management, biological weathering and biodeterioration, indoor air quality, air-conditioning technology, industrial aerobiology and more.

African Invertebrates is an international peer-reviewed journal that covers the taxonomy, systematics, biology, biogeography, ecology, conservation and palaeontology of Afrotropical invertebrates, whether terrestrial, freshwater or marine, published jointly by the Council of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and Pensoft Publishers. A printed version of the journal is produced twice a year. All contributions are published in English (British Standard), with an option to add an abstract in any other language that uses Latin or Cyrillic alphabet. When preparing manuscripts, authors are encouraged to make use of extensive holdings of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and other South African museums and collections, and to deposit holotypes (paratypes) and voucher specimens in recognised South African institutions.

African Journal of Ecology (formerly East African Wildlife Journal) publishes original scientific research into the ecology and conservation of the animals and plants of Africa. It has a wide circulation both within and outside Africa and is the foremost research journal on the ecology of the continent. In addition to original articles, the Journal publishes comprehensive reviews on topical subjects and brief communications of preliminary results. African Journal of Herpetology (AJH)  serves as an outlet for original research on the biology of African amphibians and reptiles. AJH is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes original articles and reviews from diverse fields and disciplines, such as conservation, phylogenetics, evolution, systematics, performance, physiology, ecology, behavioural ecology, ethology, and morphology.

African (formerly South African) Journal of Marine Science provides an international forum for the publication of original, peer-reviewed contributions in all disciplines of marine research, including reports on new techniques and methods. The scope covers all aspects of marine science, from estuaries and coastal waters to the open ocean, from chemical and physical to biological oceanography, and including fisheries, socio-economic science, co-management, ecosystems and other topical advisory subjects. Contributions from African waters, including the Southern Ocean, are particularly encouraged, although not to the exclusion of those from elsewhere. They may take the form of a paper, a critical review or a short communication. The journal publishes proceedings of symposia in dedicated issues, as well as guest-edited suites on thematic topics in regular issues. The journal is produced by NISC in association with the Fisheries branch of the South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF). African Journal of Range & Forage Science is the leading rangeland and pastoral journal in Africa. The Journal is dedicated to publishing quality original material that advances rangeland ecology and pasture management in Africa. Contributions reporting on research not done in Africa, which is applicable in Africa, are welcome. The Journal promotes both science and its application and authors are encouraged to explicitly identify the practical implications of their work. Peer-reviewed research papers and research notes deal primarily with all aspects of rangeland and pasture ecology and management, including the ecophysiology and biogeochemistry of rangelands and pastures, terrestrial plant8211;herbivore interactions (both domestic and wild), rangeland assessment and monitoring, effects of climate change on rangelands, rangeland and pasture management, rangeland rehabilitation, ecosystem services in support of production, conservation and biodiversity goals, and the identification and development of intensive and semi-intensive pasture and forage resources to meet livestock production needs in Africa. Koedoe, with the sub-title 'African Protected Area Conservation and Science' is an influential, frequently cited, accredited, peer reviewed and Open Access journal published since 1958. Koedoe promotes and contributes to the scientific (biology) and environmental (ecology and biodiversity) conservation practices of Africa, by defining the key practices that will ensure biological diversity in Africa.

African Zoology continues Zoologica Africana and South African Journal of Zoology and is published by the Zoological Society of Southern Africa. Full-length papers and short communications on original research on any aspect of zoology in Africa (or that is relevant to Africa) and its surrounding oceans, seas and islands will be considered for publication, especially studies in: ecology; ethology; physiology; functional morphology; genetics; taxonomy; systematics and phylogeny; biodiversity and conservation.

The African Journal of Biotechnology (AJB), a new broad-based journal, is an open access journal that was founded on two key tenets: To publish the most exciting research in all areas of applied biochemistry, industrial microbiology, molecular biology, genomics and proteomics, food and agricultural technologies, and metabolic engineering. Secondly, to provide the most rapid turn-around time possible for reviewing and publishing, and to disseminate the articles freely for teaching and reference purposes. All articles published in AJB are peer-reviewed.

Agrekon provides a respected forum for research, debate, policy, and practice regarding agricultural economics in southern Africa. It welcomes high-quality contributions that advance studies in the area. The quarterly journal serves as the official publication of the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA).

Agri Gene strives to be a diverse journal and topics in multiple fields will be considered for publication so long as their main focus is on agriculturally important organisms (plants, animals, insects, or microorganisms). Although not limited to the following, some examples of potential topics include:

• Genetic markers to guide traditional breeding.
• Genetic effects of transposable elements.
• Evolutionary genetics, molecular evolution, population genetics, and phylogenetics.

Agri Gene encourages submission of novel manuscripts that present a reasonable level of analysis, functional relevance and/or mechanistic insight. Agri Gene also welcomes papers that have predominantly a descriptive component but improve the essential basis of knowledge for subsequent functional studies, or which provide important confirmation of recently published discoveries provided that the information is new.

Agribusiness: An International Journal publishes research that improves our understanding of how food systems work, how they are evolving, and how public and/or private actions affect the performance of the global agro-industrial complex. The journal focuses on the application of economic analysis to the organization and performance of firms and markets in industrial food systems. Subject matter areas include supply and demand analysis, industrial organization analysis, price and trade analysis, marketing, finance, and public policy analysis. International, cross-country comparative, and within-country studies are welcome. To facilitate research the journal's Forum section, on an intermittent basis, offers commentary and reports on business policy issues.

Agricultural Economics aims to disseminate the most important research results and policy analyses in our discipline, from all regions of the world. Topical coverage ranges from consumption and nutrition to land use and the environment, at every scale of analysis from households to markets and the macro-economy. Applicable methodologies include econometric estimation and statistical hypothesis testing, optimization and simulation models, descriptive reviews and policy analyses. We particularly encourage submission of empirical work that can be replicated and tested by others.
