Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics provides a medium for the publication of papers from the fields of experimental gerontology and clinical and social geriatrics. The principal aim of the journal is to facilitate the exchange of information between specialists in these three fields of gerontological research. Experimental papers dealing with the basic mechanisms of aging at molecular, cellular, tissue or organ levels will be published.Clinical papers will be accepted if they provide sufficiently new information or are of fundamental importance for the knowledge of human aging. Purely descriptive clinical papers will be accepted only if the results permit further interpretation. Papers dealing with anti-aging pharmacological preparations in humans are welcome. Papers on the social aspects of geriatrics will be accepted if they are of general interest regarding the epidemiology of aging and the efficiency and working methods of the social organizations for the health care of the elderly.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology is an international journal that publishes articles in English that are of interest to insect biochemists and physiologists. Generally these articles will be in, or related to, one of the following subject areas: Endocrinology, Development, Neurobiology, Behavior, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Enzymes, Proteins, Peptides, Nucleic Acids, Molecular Biology, Toxicology. ARCHIVES will publish only original articles. Articles that are confirmatory in nature or deal with analytical methods previously described will not be accepted.
Archives of Microbiology publishes papers on all areas of basic research in microbiology.Research papers must make a significant and original contribution tomicrobiology and be of interest to a broad readership. The results of anyexperimental approach that meets these objectives are welcome, particularlybiochemical, molecular genetic, physiological, and/or physical investigations intomicrobial cells and their interactions with their environments, including their eukaryotic hosts.Mini-reviews in areas of special topical interest and papers on medical microbiology, ecology and systematics, including description of novel taxa, are also published.Theoretical papers and those that report analysis of 'mining' of data areacceptable in principle if new information, interpretation, or hypothesesemerge. 5-Year Impact Factor: 2.125 (2008)*
Archives of Oral Biology operates a web-based submission and review system. Please register at http://ees.elsevier.com/aob to submit a paper.Archives of Oral Biology is an international journal which aims to publish papers of the highest scientific quality in the oral and craniofacial sciences. The journal is particularly interested in research which advances knowledge in the mechanisms of craniofacial development and disease, including:• Cell and molecular biology• Molecular genetics• Immunology• Pathogenesis• Cellular microbiology• Embryology• Syndromology• Forensic dentistryThe aim is to be inclusive and multidisciplinary and papers are also welcome in the fields of structure and function of craniofacial tissues over the whole range of vertebrates including studies concerned with palaeontology and comparative anatomy. Archives of Oral Biology will also publish expert reviews and articles concerned with advancement in relevant methodologies. The journal will only consider clinical papers where they make a significant contribution to the understanding of a disease process.
Archives of Pharmacal Research is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of original scientific research papers and reviews in the fields of drug discovery, drug development, and drug actions with a view to providing fundamental and novel information on drugs and drug candidates.
Manuscripts will be considered for publication on the condition that the results reported are based on original research that has not been published elsewhere in any journal.
Upon acceptance for publication of an article in Archives of Pharmacal Research, the author tacitly agrees to make available any materials used in the published experiments, or novel or natural products disclosed in the article that are not commercially available, so that other researchers may confirm the observations.
For the studies using natural extract, the journal will determine the acceptability of such papers on an individual basis. Natural product contribution must meet the following specific criteria: a) any n
Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry: The Journal of Metabolic Diseases is an international peer-reviewed journal which has been relaunched to meet the increasing demand for integrated publication on molecular, biochemical and cellular aspects of metabolic diseases, as well as clinical and therapeutic strategies for their treatment. It publishes full-length original articles, rapid papers, reviews and mini-reviews on selected topics. It is the overall goal of the journal to disseminate novel approaches to an improved understanding of major metabolic disorders. The scope encompasses all topics related to the molecular and cellular pathophysiology of metabolic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, and their associated complications. Clinical studies are considered as an integral part of the Journal and should be related to one of the following topics: the dysregulation of hormone receptors and signal transduction the contribution of gene variants and gene regulatory processes the impairment of intermediary metabolism at the cellular level secretion and metabolism of peptides and other factors that mediate cellular crosstalk therapeutic strategies for managing metabolic diseases Special issues dedicated to topics in the field will be published regularly. Arthropod Structure & Development is a Journal of ArthropodStructural Biology, Development, and Functional Morphology; it considers manuscripts that deal with micro- and neuroanatomy, development, biomechanics, organogenesis in particular under comparative and evolutionary aspects but not merely taxonomic papers. The aim of the journal is to publish papers in the areas of functional and comparative anatomy and development, with an emphasis on the role of cellular organization in organ function. The journal will also publish papers on organogenisis, embryonic and postembryonic development, and organ or tissue regeneration and repair. Manuscripts dealing with comparative and evolutionary aspects of microanatomy and development are encouraged. Specifically, the following research areas will be covered:• Integument and effector organs (exoskeleton, muscles and glands).• Sensory structures, peripheral, autonomic and central nervous systems, and neuroendocrine systems.• Circulatory, respiratory, visceral, and excretory organs.• Reproductive systems, organogenesis and repair.• Pattern formation and development.• Comparative microanatomy and morphology of arthropods from the phylogenetic view.A thorough but efficient peer-review system with the assistance of section and advisory editors of world-wide reputation will ensure that published papers will conform to high scientific standards. Review articles and article series on relevant topics will be invited at regular intervals and will be subject to peer-review. Particular emphasis will be given to high quality line and half-tone illustrations. Exceptional colour plates will be printed free of charge. Supplementary 3-D and motion figures and other electronic addenda can be submitted with the manuscript and published on the journal's website after acceptance.
The scope of the journal covers integrative taxonomy, morphology/anatomy, phylogeny (molecular or morphology-based), bio- and phylogeography, and palaeontology. Purely descriptive work, faunistic work, and (usually) work with a strong regional focus are outside the scope. Descriptions of new taxa are welcome, but must be embedded in a novel wider context (e.g. a phylogenetic, evolutionary, or biogeographical framework).
Artificial Cells, Nanomedicine and Biotechnology covers the frontiers of interdisciplinary research and application, combining artificial cells, nanotechnology, nanobiotechnology, biotechnology, molecular biology, bioencapsulation, novel carriers, stem cells and tissue engineering. Emphasis is on basic research, applied research, and clinical and industrial applications of the following topics:.
Artificial Life is devoted to a new discipline that investigates the scientific, engineering, philosophical, and social issues involved in our rapidly increasing technological ability to synthesize life-like behaviorsfrom scratch in computers, machines, molecules, and other alternative media. By extending the horizons ofempirical research in biology beyond the territory currently circumscribed by life-as-we-know-it, the study of artificial life gives us access to the domain of life-as-it-could-be. Relevant topics span the hierarchy of biological organization, including studies of the origin of life, self-assembly, growth and development, evolutionary and ecological dynamics, animal and robot behavior, social organization, and cultural evolution.
