Journal of Water and Health is a peer-reviewed Open Access journal devoted to the dissemination of information on the health implications and control of waterborne microorganisms and chemical substances in the broadest sense for developing and developed countries worldwide. This includes microbial toxins, chemical quality and the aesthetic qualities of water.

The Journal of Water Chemistry and Technology focuses on water and wastewater treatment, water pollution monitoring, water purification, and similar topics. It publishes the results of research covering a very broad range, including the structure of water and its fundamental properties; chemical, physicochemical and biological methods of water treatment; methods of water analysis; instrumentation for monitoring water quality; and automation and control of treatment processes and systems. Its main rubrics are theoretical principles of water conditioning and treatment technology; physical chemistry of water treatment processes; analysis of natural and wastewaters; water treatment and demineralization technology; and biological methods of water treatment. Many of the articles originate from the Institute of Colloid Chemistry and Water Chemistry (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences), which is well known for its contributions to the study of chemical and physicochemical water treatment processes.

The Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development is an Open Access peer-reviewed journal devoted to the dissemination of high-quality information on the science, policy and practice of drinking-water supply, sanitation and hygiene at local, national and international levels. The journal publishes original contributions including research, analysis, review and commentary. It emphasizes issues of concern in developing and middle-income countries and in disadvantaged communities world-wide, such as: Water supply: intermittent supply, community and utility water supplies, water treatment, distribution, storage and use, water access and quality Sanitation: collection, transport, treatment, use, discharge, on-site and off-site sanitation, resources recovery Hygiene: behaviours, education, change Technical and managerial issues: characteristics of and constraints to conventional and innovative approaches, technical options and boundaries of technical application, emerging issues, emergencies and disasters, impacts on health, poverty and development, sustainability, demand, marketing, organizing supply chains Institutional development: roles of public and private sector, capacity building, governance, education and training Financing and economic analysis: including cost-effectiveness and cost-benefits, role and impact of subsidies, user fees, financial instruments, innovations in financing Policy: examining all aspects and developments in the role of national policy on service provision, human rights and rights-based approaches policy, developing appropriate and scaleable legal and regulatory approaches, norms and standards International policy: aid and aid effectiveness; international targets, conventions and agreements, UN and international policy

JAWRA seeks to be the preeminent scholarly publication on multidisciplinary water resources issues. JAWRA papers present ideas derived from multiple disciplines woven together to give insight into a critical water issue, or are based primarily upon a single discipline with important applications to other disciplines. Papers often cover the topics of recent AWRA conferences such as riparian ecology, geopraphic information systems, adaptive management, and water policy.JAWRA authors present work within their disciplinary fields to a broader audience. Our Associate Editors and reviewers reflect this diversity to ensure a knowledgeable and fair review of a broad range of topics. We particularly encourage submissions of papers which impart a 'take home message' our readers can use.

Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems (KMAE-Bulletin Français de la Pêche et de la Pisciculture since 1928) serves as a foundation for scientific advice across the broad spectrum of management and conservation issues related to freshwater ecosystems.The journal publishes articles, short communications, reviews, comments and replies that contribute to a scientific understanding of freshwater ecosystems and the impact of human activities upon these systems. Its scope includes economic, social, and public administration studies, in so far as they are directly concerned with the management of freshwater ecosystems (e.g. European Water Framework Directive, USA Clean Water Act, Canadian Water Quality Guidelines, …) and prove of general interest to freshwater specialists. Papers on insular freshwater ecosystems and on transitional waters or estuaries are welcome.

Numerous journals publish papers on systematic and / or morphological research. It is not easy to keep track of them all and to decide which one is the best journal to submit a given manuscript to. In order to assist others with finding the right journal for their manuscripts, I decided to put a list of journals on my websites that publish papers in the abovementioned areas. The list comes in two versions: one is alphabetical, in the other the journals are ranked by the average number of citations an article receives in the year after its publication.

Lake and Reservoir Management (LRM) publishes original, previously unpublished studies relevant to lake and reservoir management. Papers address the management of lakes and reservoirs, their watersheds and tributaries, along with the limnology and ecology needed for sound management of these systems. Case studies that advance the science of lake management or confirm important management concepts are appropriate. Papers on economic, social, regulatory and policy aspects of lake management are also welcome with appropriate supporting data. Literature syntheses and papers developing a conceptual foundation of lake and watershed ecology will be considered for publication, but are not the primary focus of this journal. Shorter notes that add to an important and documented base of knowledge or that convey important early results of long-term studies will also be considered if the contribution is significant. All submissions are subject to peer review to assure uniformity and high quality in materials published by NALMS. Typical areas of study addressed in LRM papers include: * Assessment of lake resources, uses, problems and threats * Monitoring methods or programs and their implications for management * Ecology and management of invasive species * Evaluation of in-lake management approaches and impacts * Evaluation of watershed-based management approaches and impacts * Social and economic dimensions of lake management LRM functions as a record of advances in lake management and a resource for lake managers, researchers and policy makers. Papers must demonstrate relevance to lake management, integrate findings with current knowledge, apply sound study design and data analysis, and convey an important message clearly and concisely.

Lakes & Reservoirs: Research and Management is the official publication of the International Lake Environment Committee Foundation (ILEC). The Journal aims to promote environmentally sound management of natural and artificial lakes, consistent with sustainable development policies. The Journal publishes international research on the management and conservation of lakes and reservoirs to facilitate the international exchange of results.

Limnology is a scientific journal published three times a year, in January, April, and August, by Springer in association with the Japanese Society of Limnology. The editors welcome original scientific contributions on physical, chemical, biological, or related research, including environmental issues, on any aspect of theoretical or applied limnology. The journal publishes research papers, notes, review articles, Asia/Oceania reports, and comments.   The aims and scope of Limnology are to publish scientific and/or technical papers in limnology, to serve as a platform for information dissemination among scientists and practitioners, to enhance international links, and to contribute to the development of linmology, especially in Asia and Oceania.
