The international, interdisciplinary journal Mathematical Social Sciences publishes original research articles, survey papers, short notes and book reviews. The journal emphasizes the unity of mathematical modelling in economics, psychology, political sciences, sociology and other social sciences.Topics of particular interest include the fundamental aspects of choice, information, and preferences (decision science) and of interaction (game theory and economic theory), the measurement of utility, welfare and inequality, the formal theories of justice and implementation, voting rules, cooperative games, fair division, cost allocation, bargaining, matching, social networks, and evolutionary and other dynamics models.Papers published by the journal are mathematically rigorous but no bounds, from above or from below, limits their technical level. The international mathematics education community is maturing at a rapid and exciting rate. Although this community has developed its own research perspectives and theoretical frameworks, it continues to expand its horizons by drawing upon new theories and research in mathematics, psychology, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, and information technology. Mathematical Thinking and Learning is directed at researchers interested in mathematics education from any of these perspectives, with a particular focus on mathematical thinking, reasoning, and learning.This journal seeks high-quality articles that address one or more of the following topics: interdisciplinary studies on mathematical learning, reasoning or thinking, and their developments at all ages; technological advances and their impact on mathematical thinking and learning; studies that explore the diverse processes of mathematical reasoning; new insights into how mathematical understandings develop across the life span, including significant transitional periods; changing perspectives on the nature of mathematics and their impact on mathematical thinking and learning in both formal and informal contexts; studies that explore the internationalization of mathematics education, together with other cross-cultural studies of mathematical thinking and learning; and studies of innovative instructional practices that foster mathematical learning, thinking, and development. The articles in Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development (MEC) range from theoretical and other problems of the measurement specialist to those directed to the administrator, the counselor, or the personnel worker--in schools and colleges, public and private agencies, business, industry, and government. All articles clearly describe implications for the counseling field and for practitioners in assessment, measurement, and evaluation.

Media Psychology is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to publishing theoretically-oriented empirical research that is at the intersection of psychology and media communication. These topics include media uses, processes, and effects. Such research is already well represented in mainstream journals in psychology and communication, but its publication is dispersed across many sources. Therefore, scholars working on common issues and problems in various disciplines often cannot fully utilize the contributions of kindred spirits in cognate disciplines. By providing a high-quality, common publication outlet for psychologists, communication researchers, human developmental specialists, and other scholars who are interested in the psychological consequences of the broad spectrum of communication media, potentially fertile cross-disciplinary work can flourish. Although most of the published articles will report original empirical research that bridges media communication and psychology, state-of-the-art reviews and meta-analyses that provide a major synthesis of primary research findings in a pivotal area will be considered. Studies of messages using single exemplars must include justification for the message selection and implications for generalizability. Manuscripts will be judged by the degree to which they contribute to theory and advance the body of knowledge about the psychology of uses, processes, or effects of the media. Memory Studies affords recognition, form and direction to work in this nascent field, and provides a critical forum for dialogue and debate on the theoretical, empirical, and methodological issues central to a collaborative understanding of memory today. Memory Studies examines the social, cultural, cognitive, political and technological shifts affecting how, what and why individuals, groups and societies remember, and forget.

Mental Health and Physical Activity is an international forum for scholarly reports on any aspect of relevance to advancing our understanding of the relationship between mental health and physical activity. Manuscripts will be considered for publication which deal with high quality research, comprehensive research reviews, and critical reflection of applied or research issues. The journal is open to the use of diverse methodological approaches. The journal 'Metacognition and Learning' addresses various components of metacognition, such as metacognitive awareness, experiences, knowledge, and executive skills. Moreover, both general metacognition as well as domain-specific metacognitions in various task domains (mathematics, physics, reading, writing etc.) are considered. Papers may address fundamental theoretical issues, measurement issues regarding both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as empirical studies about individual differences in metacognition, relations with other learner characteristics and learning strategies, developmental issues, the training of metacognition components in learning, and the teacher’s role in metacognition training. Submitted papers are judged on theoretical relevance, methodological thoroughness, and appeal to an international audience. The journal aims for a high academic standard with relevance to the field of educational practices. One restriction is that papers should pertain to the role of metacognition in learning situations. Self-regulation in clinical settings, such as coping with phobia or anxiety outside learning situations, is beyond the scope of the journal.

Manuscripts will be evaluated on the basis of style as well as content. In order to set off printed figurative text from nonfigurative use of (a) italicization (underlining in manuscripts) for indicating emphasis, (b) quotation marks for indicating quotations, and (c) capitalization for indicating headings and subheadings, authors should abide by the following conventions: Any sentence or phrase in which a word or words are intended as figurative should be set in quoted lower-case italics (e.g., 'My soul is an enchanted boat,' 'to let the cat out of the bag,' etc.). What are called metaphor themes or metaphor formulas should be set in quoted upper-case italics (e.g., 'LIFE IS A JOURNEY,' 'LOVE IS INSANITY,' etc.), with italicization indicated by underlining in the manuscripts. Subordinate instances of these two sample themes should be set in quoted lower-case italics ('Our relationship has come a long way' and 'He was madly in love with her,' respectively). Methodology is the successor of the two journals Metodologia de las Ciencias del Comportamiento and Methods of Psychological Research-Online (MPR-Online). All issues are still available at http://www.aemcco.org/ and www.dgps.de/fachgruppen/methoden/mpr-online/. Methodology is the official organ of the European Association of Methodology (EAM; www.eam-online.org), a union of methodologists working in different areas of the social and behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics, educational and political sciences). The journal provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange of methodological research and applications in the different fields, including new methodological approaches, review articles, software information, and instructional papers that can be used in teaching. Three main disciplines are covered: data analysis, research methodology, and psychometrics. The articles published in the journal are not only accessible to methodologists but also to more applied researchers in the various disciplines.
