Landscape and Urban Planning

ISSN: 0169-2046eISSN: 1872-6062

Landscape and Urban Planning is an international journal aimed at advancing conceptual, scientific, and applied understandings of landscape in order to promote sustainable solutions for landscape change. Landscapes are visible and integrative social-ecological systems with variable spatial and temporal dimensions. They have expressive aesthetic, natural, and cultural qualities that are perceived and valued by people in multiple ways and invite actions resulting in landscape change. Landscapes are increasingly urban in nature and ecologically and culturally sensitive to changes at local through global scales. Multiple disciplines and perspectives are required to understand landscapes and align social and ecological values to ensure the sustainability of landscapes. The journal is based on the premise that landscape science linked to planning and design can provide mutually supportive outcomes for people and nature.Landscape science brings landscape ecology and urban ecology together with other disciplines and cross-disciplinary fields to identify patterns and understand social-ecological processes influencing landscape change. Landscape planning brings landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, landscape and ecological engineering, and other practice-oriented fields to bear in processes for identifying problems and analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating desirable alternatives for landscape change. Landscape design brings plans, designs, management prescriptions, policies and other activities and form-giving products to bear in effecting landscape change. The implementation of landscape planning and design also generates new patterns of evidence and hypotheses for further research, providing an integral link with landscape science and encouraging transdisciplinary collaborations to build robust knowledge and problem solving capacity.

Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies

ISSN: 0007-4918eISSN: 1472-7234

The Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Indonesia Project at The Australian National University's College of Asia and the Pacific, fills a significant void by providing a well respected outlet for high-quality research on any and all matters pertaining to the Indonesian economy, and touching on closely related fields such as law, the environment, government and politics, demography, education and health. In doing so, it has played an important role in helping the world, and Indonesians themselves, to understand Indonesia. In addition to the usual papers reporting economic analysis and research, each issue leads with a comprehensive 'Survey of recent developments', which aims to be reasonably accessible even to non-economists, and helps to account for the journal's diverse readership within academia, government, business and the broader public. All issues also contain a number of reviews of books on Indonesian economics and related issues. Published with financial support from the Australian Agency for International Development and the Arndt-Corden Division of Economics, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Neither the Agency nor the Economics Division takes responsibility for the views expressed by authors in this journal. The Bulletin is published in Indonesia by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Jakarta . The journal is published three times a year, in April, August and December. These three issues constitute one volume. A volume index of articles and book reviews by author is published in the last issue of each volume. Peer Review Statement All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, consisting of initial screening by the editor and double-blind refereeing by at least two reviewers. All Surveys of Recent Developments in this journal are specially commissioned papers that have undergone rigorous peer review, consisting of assessment by, and incorporation of comments from, the editor and academic staff of the Indonesia Project at The Australian National University and their colleagues. Press Release - Hearts and Minds? British Counterinsurgency from Malaya to Iraq2009 Impact Factor: 0.422Ranking 41/59 (International Relations); 83/112 (Political Science) 169; 2010 Thomson Reuters, 2009 Journal Citation Reports174;Free to Access! - Highlighted articles from 2008 - Find out moreThe 2009 prize was awarded to Michael Beckley, for his article 8216;Economic Development and Military Effectiveness'. His article was printed in the first issue of 2010. Over the last twenty years, the reshaping of the world politics and the development of innovative military technologies has placed a huge question mark beside the efficacy of force in contemporary statecraft. Consequently, the field of strategic studies has never been of greater significance than it is today. Since the appearance of the first issue in 1978, The Journal of Strategic Studies has taken a lead in promoting fresh thinking in the field among practitioners and academics alike. The defining feature of The Journal of Strategic Studies is its commitment to multi-disciplinary approach. The editors welcome articles that challenge our historical understanding of man's efforts to achieve political ends through the application of military and diplomatic means; articles on contemporary security and theoretical controversies of enduring value; and of course articles that explicitly combine the historical and theoretical approaches to the study of modern warfare, defence policy and modern strategy. In addition to a well-established review section, The Journal of Strategic Studies offers its diverse readership a wide range of 'special issues' and 'special sections'. Recent editions have focused on the disarmament of Germany in the inter-war years, the rise of China and counter-insurgency warfare.Award - Annual Amos Perlmutter PrizePeer ReviewAll articles in The Journal of Strategic Studies have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and review by one or more anonymous referees. Preventive Veterinary Medicine

ISSN: 0167-5877eISSN: 1873-1716

Preventive Veterinary Medicine is one of the leading international resources for scientific reports on animal health programs and preventive veterinary medicine. The journal follows the guidelines for standardizing and strengthening the reporting of biomedical research which are available from the CONSORT, MOOSE, PRISMA, REFLECT, STARD, and STROBE statements. The journal focuses on:Epidemiology of health events relevant to domestic and wild animals;Economic impacts of epidemic and endemic animal and zoonotic diseases;Latest methods and approaches in veterinary epidemiology;Disease and infection control or eradication measures; The "One Health" concept and the relationships between veterinary medicine, human health, animal-production systems, and the environment;Development of new techniques in surveillance systems and diagnosis;Evaluation and control of diseases in animal populations. The journal encourages the submission of clinical and field-trial studies, particularly those related to new vaccines and other preventive measures. These studies, however, should follow the Consort Statement (http://www.consort-statement.org) or Reflect Statement (http://reflect-statement.org).Prevalence studies may be considered for publication, but only if the results are likely to be of international interest (i.e. it must be possible to generalize the findings using scientifically based approaches). For these studies, key considerations in the review process will include (but are not limited to): consideration of both animal-level and herd-level demographics in the sampling design; the study population's relevance to the authors' described target population; the potential for confounding; and how well the sample-size justification assures high precision. The sensitivity and specificity of non-perfect tests used must be declared; the true rather than the apparent prevalence must be presented.Submissions of reviews of relevant topics are also encouraged, but these should follow the systematic-review process addressed by the guidelines in the following two websites: http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/reprint/283/15/2008; http://prisma-statement.org.Preventive Veterinary Medicine does not publish studies on experimental development of diagnostic assays without the appropriate field evaluation. Guidelines for the evaluation of diagnostic assays are followed in the review process (http://www.stard-statement.org)).Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. International Journal of Paleopathology

ISSN: 1879-9817eISSN: 1879-9825

Paleopathology is the study and application of methods and techniques for investigating diseases and related conditions from skeletal and soft tissue remains. The International Journal of Paleopathology (IJPP) will publish original and significant articles on human and animal (including hominids) disease, based upon the study of physical remains, including osseous, dental, and preserved soft tissues at a range of methodological levels, from direct observation to molecular, chemical, histological and radiographic analysis. Discussion of ways in which these methods can be applied to the reconstruction of health, disease and life histories in the past is central to the discipline, so the journal would also encourage papers covering interpretive and theoretical issues, and those that place the study of disease at the centre of a bioarchaeological or biocultural approach. Papers dealing with historical evidence relating to disease in the past (rather than history of medicine) will also be published. The journal will also accept significant studies that applied previously developed techniques to new materials, setting the research in the context of current debates on past human and animal health.

Types of paper:

• Research Articles: A full-length, original scholarly article, for example a contextually grounded study of disease one or more ancient communities. Both historical and prehistoric perspectives are appropriate for publication inIJPP. Research articles will usually contain the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Articlehttp://ees.elsevier.com/ijppsubmissions should not normally exceed 6000 words excluding tables and citations.

• Case Study: Case studies of special significance are suitable for publication inIJPP. These must be justified in terms of disease, temporal, and/or locational uniqueness. As a rule, case studies are normally less lengthy than research reports and should not exceed 3000 words, excluding tables and citations.

• Technical Note: Normally shorter than research reports (and not to exceed 1500 words excluding tables and citations), technical notes describe innovative methodologies or validation techniques.

• Brief Communication: No longer than a published page (1500 words maximum, excluding tables and citations), brief communications report the presence of a condition not sufficiently unique to merit a longer treatment (case study). Brief communications register data that may be useful for other researchers wishing to initiate comparative analyses.

• Review: Reviews of periodicals, books or other media related to paleopathology. Book reviews will normally be solicited by the IJPP Review Editor. Individual volumes of special interest to the readership of the IJPP are appropriate, as are volumes in related fields. Cluster reviews of recent publications that place them in historical and disciplinary contexts are also encouraged. Authors who wish to volunteer individual or cluster reviews should consult with the Review Editor concerning the suitability of material and length of the contribution.

• Invited Commentary: Commentaries invited by the Editor-in-Chief.

Membership Benefits:
Members of the http://www.paleopathology.org/Paleopathology Association receive online access to the International Journal of Paleopathology for free as a member benefit.
