The Geographical Journal has been the academic journal of the Royal Geographical Society, under the terms of the Royal Charter, since 1893. It publishes original research papers and review articles, all of which are refereed. Editorial policy is not influenced by the views of the sponsors. The papers range across the entire subject of Geography, with particular reference to public debates, policy-orientated agendas and notions of ‘relevance’. Particular emphasis is placed on:* Publishing articles that make a major theoretical, conceptual and/or empirical intervention to the advancement of both geography and ideas pertaining to ‘public relevance’* Stimulating and shaping future public and policy-orientated agendas across human and physical geography* Publishing a range of articles, editorial interventions and other forms of commentaries, which investigate why problems, issues and solutions are posed in particular ways* Evaluating the manner in which geographical knowledge is used to influence and underpin local, national and global policies* Attracting articles and other contributions that communicate ‘cutting-edge’ research in an accessible manner. The GJ also carries book reviews and longer comparative reviews of books and other public sources that focus on the public debates, policy-orientated agendas and critical assessments of ‘relevance’.

Aims & Scope: Translation of mRNA into protein is a central step in the gene expression pathway. It is tightly controlled to provide cells with a rapid, robust and highly specific means to respond to changes in its microenvironment. Pathological regulation of translation occurs in many diseases including diabetes, heart failure and cancer. Agents to correct aberrant translation are being actively developed.
Translation is planned as a unique peer-reviewed, high-profile journal with a broad international audience. The launch of this journal reflects the tremendous progress in the field of translation over the past decade.
Translation will cover two major areas:
Dyes and Pigments covers the scientific and technical aspects of the chemistry and physics of dyes, pigments and their intermediates. Emphasis is placed on the properties of the colouring matters themselves rather than on their applications or the system in which they may be applied. Thus the journal accepts research and review papers on the synthesis of dyes, pigments and intermediates, their physical or chemical properties, e.g. spectroscopic, surface, solution or solid state characteristics, the physical aspects of their preparation, e.g. precipitation, nucleation and growth, crystal formation, liquid crystalline characteristics, their photochemical, ecological or biological properties and the relationship between colour and chemical constitution. However, papers are considered which deal with the more fundamental aspects of colourant application and of the interactions of colourants with substrates or media. The journal will interest a wide variety of workers in a range of disciplines whose work involves dyes, pigments and their intermediates, and provides a platform for investigators with common interests but diverse fields of activity such as cosmetics, reprographics, dye and pigment synthesis, medical research, polymers, etc.Contact: Please feel free to contact us for any comments, questions or feedback. In addition, we are always interested in any publication proposals for books, electronic products, new journals and co-operation for existing journals.

The journal is concerned with the use of mathematical models and systems analysis for the description of ecological processes and for the sustainable management of resources. Human activity and well-being are dependent on and integrated with the functioning of ecosystems and the services they provide. We aim to understand these basic ecosystem functions using mathematical and conceptual modelling, systems analysis, thermodynamics, computer simulations, and ecological theory. This leads to a preference for process-based models embedded in theory with explicit causative agents as opposed to strictly statistical or correlative descriptions. These modelling methods can be applied to a wide spectrum of issues ranging from basic ecology to human ecology to socio-ecological systems. The journal welcomes research articles, short communications, review articles, letters to the editor, book reviews, and other communications. The journal also supports the activities of the International Society of Ecological Modelling (ISEM).Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. This journal continues to serve the large technical community concerned with quantitative and computational methods of optimization, and their application to engineering planning, design, manufacture and operational processes. The policy of the journal treats optimization as any formalized process for improvement. Algorithms for numerical optimization are therefore mainstream for the journal, but equally welcome are papers which use many of the methods of operations research, decision support, statistical decision theory, systems theory, logical inference, knowledge-based systems, artificial intelligence, information theory and processing, and all methods which can be used in the quantitative modelling of the decision-making process. The engineering dimension is vital. Engineering Optimization aims to serve all disciplines within the engineering community. Relevance to problems of engineering, planning, design, construction and operation is a key element in all published papers. Papers on both research aspects and practical industrial implementations are welcomed. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.
Engineering Structures provides a forum for a broad blend of scientific and technical papers to reflect the evolving needs of the structural engineering and structural mechanics communities.
